It is possible future of DayZ?

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to make DayZ in future:

- without desync problem

- without city fps drops

- without zombies running through walls?

- without lags, warps, etc?

VR -> Infusion engine will be capable of it? Im owner of DayZ SA, i'm old player of mod and i want still play but im very interested about possiblities of fixing arma engine issues.

Most of those are just current gaming technology issues that cannot be fixed. Hopefully there is a gaming technology break through in future. Zombies can be fixed.

Well, they can be fixed... I don't understand how you got to that conclusion- is DayZ the only online game you have ever played?

These problems don't exist in other games unless you have an absolutely horrible connection to the server like 300+ ping. Lag warps and desync should not exist with current gaming technology when you're on a server with under 60ms ping. That is a problem specific to this game (/possibly the ARMA series, I haven't played it only the DayZ SA and know the engines are very similar) and not a common problem caused by current tech.

Ok I seem to be getting a lot of flack for my choice of wording. Obviously these things exist in other games, I thought it was clear to anyone with basic comprehension skills that I mean they do not exist to an extent where they severely effect the core gameplay as they do in this engine.

E.g. I have never bought a gun in CS, then went to pull it out and it's not there. Sometimes, trying to look smart being pedantic just makes you look like you couldn't understand the context behind a very simple statement.

And this is question, will Infusion differ than VR so much that desync will be fixed... and fps drops...

Yes. Anything is possible. It's just early in development and issues like these are around. It's not too surprising to see from an alpha. They seem pretty confident in fixing these by expanding their development teams and are on track with the road map.

- x64 server architecture for less ram limitation. Server optimizations.

- multi-thread support. General game optimization (in beta).

- zombie navmesh to prevent ghostly zombies and better AI.

- more server optimizations.

there is always going to be a LITTLE desync and lag. please tell me a game where it doesn't exist? And yes I have played other games FYI. It's just it is really noticeable in dayz.

Just to be a smartass, it doesn't exist in single player games :P

It's not just that it's really 'noticeable' in DayZ- it's that it's such a major issue that severely effects gameplay (i.e. pick up an item and 5 mins later when you want to use it it's not there), whereas in other games where there will always be a little lag, it's a negligible issue because such a small amount has an insignificant effect on the gameplay, and most of the time goes completely unnoticed.

I take it when you said "current gaming technology issues that cannot be fixed", you meant issues that cannot be entirely eradicated but can be fixed to the extent that it is rarely even noticed in game. The implication I got from your statement was that DayZ is currently the epitome of netcode and the only reason it desyncs and lags is due to our primitive internet technology.

i spend few hours on empty server. No lags, no desyncs, no fps drops - that is performance that dayz should target. Try it and look how dayz should perform.

...

Just to be an smartass, even sp games have lag, you have it even now when you moving your mouse or type on your keyboard. But its so minor that you cant notice it.

There is lag even when you move your eyes, when the signal must travel through to your muscles.. :P

There will be always lag when you process it through hardware and software applications.

But to the OP, those can be fixed.. in time.

I seriously doubt this retooled engine will ever get there, it might be more acceptable in the future but I just assume anything from Bohemia Interactive will come out rough around the edges. A better question is can the game release enough content and bug fixes to make it interesting again, only time will tell.

That's taking it a few steps past smartass into the territory of total pedanticism. Lag for the signal to go from brain to eyes, desync for the light to travel from the object to your eyes, more lag for that light to be processed to an image and sent back to the brain. I had already considered this but decided to leave bringing it up until someone pointed out mouse/kb/monitor lag, they both are such insignificant factors that without the inevitable person being fastidiously pedantic, they don't even warrant a mention.

..

Exactly and all these need to be taken account for the epic 360 noscope headshots.

the sad truth is this is the truth.

BI = Buggy Interactive.

in 2 years time if dayz is even done then zombies will still go through walls, game will still have desync / lag.

if this could of been sorted it would of by now.

best to except that or just dont play tbh.

The game is still pre-64 bit implementation and more importantly still, the real optimisation phase is not going to occur until beta. So how it will eventually end up is rather difficult to say, but it is definitely going to be better than it currently is regarding fps/desync and those kind of things.

Since you have obviously not been following the development of the game, and seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that they are going to introduce navmesh for zombies, then I find the rest of your post impossible to take seriously, as it is likely written on the same mixture of ignorance and prejudice.

to be honest with you, I think it's possible, Arma 3 Has pretty much fixed all those problems on my rig. its really well optimised unlike standalone, the map is larger with more on and still runs far far smoother... Also Arma and Day Z have a lot of configuration user end and things you can change yourself to improve it...
