DayZ SA still much more laggy than anything else I play

Recommended Posts

When are they going to fix the issues they're having with the bandwidth use or what not? If I remember correctly, isn't that the client is spamming messages to the server (Or vice versa, I don't remember) therefore taking up to much bandwidth?

hmm i have very little  lag and i play at max graphics possible.

don't forget they are switching engines for the game so trying to fix things on this engine will only slow the release of the game further.

That's misleading, the engine we have now IS the Infusion engine, it's simply the case that for the sake of marketing/honest misphrasing Dean repacked it in an interview as being new but it could be more accurately understood as "we have changed so much and have so much more planned from where we started that this essentially is a new engine".

I'm not talking about FPS. I have fine FPS, I'm talking about my internet, and the fact that the majority of the time, I'm dealing with 100000 de-sync (literally)

wait until they move to the new engine all issues will probably be solved (wont happen and dont take as gospel as its alpha and all know alpha over writes anything )

There is no "new engine"...  It was stated as such for marketing purposes more than anything else (this is my opinion of course)...  The "new" engine is the exact same engine we have atm, it's just being rebranded as development continues to draw it further and further away from it's roots.  Deans comments were extremely misleading which is the reason hicks came forward and explained the reality of the situation to the reddit community shortly after...

The move to support Dx10/11 should see a fairly decent improvement (if done well) and there is the fact that the devs haven't specifically done any client optimisation - everything that has improved it has been more by accident than design. However, I will say that the current exp build was far worse in terms of FPS for me than the current stable. I've not tried it since the rubber banding has been fixed so perhaps that's resolved it.

we had two big meetings in day z with 10+ players in the same area a few people dropped items and the server crashed both times it seemed.. have they done tests like this ? gathering 10 or 20 people in a building? I saw a day Z Flash mob video so i know that happened and reassured me. But happened to our group twice now, met up for a big trading event and the server stopped responding both times on different servers that were arranged specially..

It used to be bad when one person in a group had a yellow box in their inventory. It used to make me lag if I carried one..but l  think they fixed that. But if a load of people all come together with very big inventorys and lots of boxes , etc i think their might be issues currently!

the rubber banding should be fixed in the next experimental. form what they have said, and most serves will kick you out for more than 100 ping

The rubberbanding in exp has nothing to do with desync though.

Going to a new renderer is a new engine in terms of graphics which should help with performance being going to DX10/11. True it's not a "new engine" in the same sense of say ditching everything and going to Cryengine or something like that. However implementing a new renderer Is big and is going to be the steps needed to improve graphical performance in this game, along with everything else planned. When this game is finally released it should run fairly well I would imagine.

Quote from Hicks, one of the developers:

When DayZ started - we took the source from the existing RV Engine - Over the last many months, extensive clean up, new functionality, and so forth has been created for that engine - while at the same time, vast amounts of it were removed, or rewritten entirely. The changes Dean spoke of entail major leaps forward in that work, with those changes and the many more that will come through out development - we have begun to approach the point in which DayZ's engine is so no longer recognizable as RV, and because of that - and the massive work to come, it is now known by its own name, Enfusion.

People need to realize theres no move, they always had a "new engine" in the scope, its been the plan ever since DayZ SA was announced....

Rocket just use the term "new engine" very loosely, because it is still the same engine, they are just making so many changes (and planing many many more) it cant be called RV anymore, so they found a new name for it.

Stop expecting an "engine switch", its not gonna happen, they will work and improve on, what they spend the last 6-12 months working on.

Ditching that work and starting from scratch, is insane and would do nothing but create a giant shit storm, because both players and developers would feel they have wasted almost a year, doing what they did.

If you want to know more, read this entire thread, it explains alot more in detail and gives a ton of links to official statements.

Think of it like this:

You buy a stock car, and then you modify the crap out of it, so its no longer like the stock car, but its not a "new car" either, its just hand tailored to what you want it to be.

After they fix:

The zombie issues

The path finding AI issues

the ability to have more than 5 people on a server before it becomes laggy

The extreme lag vaulting over fences or using hotkeys

the poor fps ability

the loot spawn mechanics

the zombie respawn mechanics

This added to a load of things i have either blanked from my mind or forgotten.

But I hear they will be introducing some new snazzy casual clothing spawns to keep us happy.
