The ability to relax ...

Recommended Posts

I feel we should be able to relax on couches and  chairs in the game for a boost to our energy when its introduced and if its introduced. Might make some good family pictures for our Christmas cards ;)

Scavenger enters a building, sees a medic and sniper sitting down on a couch watching a TV.

Scavenger: "What the hell?"

Medic: "Dude, we got the telly to work."

Scavenger: "Really?  Holy shit, what's on?"

Sniper: "Night of the Living Dead."

Scavenger sits down on the couch.

Bandit and a handcuffed freshspawn walk in.

Freshspawn: "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP ME!"

Bandit: "Shut up noob!"

Medic: "You got the stuff?"

Bandit: "Yeah man, it's in his pack."

Medic goes into the freshspawn's pack and passes everyone soda and food.

Freshspawn: "HELP!"

Bandit hits him with a baseball bat: "Shut up and sit down."

Id love this, more "roleplay of a survivor" feeling and adds immersion. Especially when barricades are in, block off a cabin and just chill XD

Great anectdote

more of a pass time to me, plus a game that wants realism needs to be realistic with some key features and needs, rest included ;)

what about ability to cry ?

technically we already have that ability ... like when you get shot and bitch about someone better then you killing you ... funny the game is getting more realistic as we go

Implement a sleep mechanic is way better. :)

Also make all furniture dynamic rather than static objects.

Imo,every item ingame should have implemented psysics, and allow player interaction(moveable/openable/destructable and allow sit/sleep/etc).

Sleep mechanics, and will that work ? Will it fast forward time ? Or will I need to leave the game on for some time ?

Both options have disadvantages,

Fist means you can't wake up if something happens, not realistic.

Second is simply retarded.

sleeping doesnt really work as the gent above so blatantly stated, he makes a point that it can't fast forward time since everyone is on the same time and the fact of leaving a game on while you sleep is just useless to me. The reason i say resting is let your character sit for a minute to get a rested status, depending on the object whether it be the ground or couch could effect the speed of your resting, being rested will last a while so it shouldnt be like our hunger and drain quickly but it should have to be done periodically as you run X amount of miles. Poor rest could result in heavy breathing quicker while running, lack the ability to steady your weapon so KoS should be a little harder but not by much because lets face it KoS keeps us on our feet ;) and you will get thirsty and hungrier the longer you dont rest a bit. Simple to do and wouldn't change the game by much but would add in another factor you need to look out for, basicly making our characters life's a bit more lively.

Sleeping would work , just like sitting in this game is a risk. Sleeping would just be greater risk but while you're sleeping you'd regenerate blood faster .. I think many would take that risk including me for a quick boost in health (obviously quick is an overstatement , it would take like 30 mins or so to regenerate half Health from almost 0 , or whatever works ).

And eventually I would love to see a lot of the couches and chairs "sitable" lol it just adds to immersion !

Or we could assume you sleep while being offline.

I don't think sleep would be a very good mechanic to add.  If it was an ingame thing, where you actually have to be logged in and sleep, how would that be handled?  I mean I don't play for more than 4 hours at a time on most occasions, say we need to rest 8 hours every 'day' of play.  That'd be two play sessions of just black screen, that's if they do a real time thing (which they'ed have to since this is multiplayer persistent and not a single player game where you can just fast forward when you sleep IE Skyrim).  If they made us 'sleep' when we log off like what I hear Rust does...well we hear enough bitching on this forum about people getting killed in the 30 seconds it takes to log out.  I also see no correlation between sleep and 'healing', other than some of the natural processes a HEALTHY body goes through (yes there are some parts of the body that only 'heal' while you're sleeping).

Then there's the limitation thing.  IE if you play so long your avatar gets tired and the game 'forces' you to log out for a certain amount of time.  While that could be argued for 'realism', I say real life is good enough for that and they don't need to spend time making a game mechanic for that.  Say you pull a marathon session, in real life you're gonna be tired, your brain won't function as well, you'll be making mistakes in game, more missed shots, not seeing that movement in the treeline, or shooting at that same movement, thinking it's a player and it turned out to just be a deer, now there's zombies all around you as well as alerting the KOSer/Bandit nearby.  Now if they made something like while you log off you slowly heal if you are hydrated and fed (like say 1/10th the healing you'd do if you were actually logged in).  But even then, what happens to your hunger and thirst while logged out?  Does that go down too?  What happens if you can't/don't play for a week?

I'd say resting would be the better alternative, other than providing a small boost to your sprint or whatever was intended.  Let's say you're badly wounded.  Very low on blood, broken leg, ect.  You've got a camp set up and a friend is making a hospital run for supplies.  While you're waiting for morphine and possibly a blood bag you're back at camp cooking/smoking meat, or otherwise improving the camp and otherwise just killing time.  Since you're not doing anything strenuous like sprinting for 5 kilometers with two guns and a pack full of canned food, you're healing a little faster, not using up as much energy/calories.
