Getting punshed, knockout immediately & melee weapons all the same dmg?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Anyone else irritated on the fact that it's so easy to knock somebody unconcoious with your hands?

I mean it, I walked around in a small city, then a new spawned player comes up to me and knocks me out with 1 or 2 hits stealing all my gear and leaving me.

That have happend like 4-6 times. Also the melee weapons seems to have the same dmg, so a baseball bat and a machete have the same dmg. Does that make sense? Not really, and you only need 2-3 hits with any melee weapon to knock somebody out. So your hands are as good as a melee weapon. I dont get it?

Am I mistaken?

Is it anything that I dont like is it the fact that I get fisted and lose my gear.

Will they fix it? Do you think it should be done anything with it?

I agree. Melee weapons should be far, far more effective in CQC than bare fists. It is, after all, why they were invented in the first place!

I would like to see three different damage "types" present, each doing different "levels" of damage and with different effects.

-Bludgeon: fists, bat, wrench, hammer, axe etc. Do low (fists) to extremely high (hammer, sledge) impact damage, with the possibility of breaking bones and causing shock-knockouts as the damage goes higher, alongside internal bleeding. Very slow attack speed.

-Slash: slashing with knives. low damage, with superficial surface bleeding. Very high attack speed.

-Stab: Stabbing with knives, spears. High damage, with high chance of internal bleeding, but extremely hard to aim and attack is telegraphed a lot.. Medium attack speed.

This..

Theoretically, You could be able to change the same way you change the fire mode on your rifle, I dislike how LITTLE damage the one handed bladed weapons do.. If you get stabbed in the chest/stomach, You're gonna have a BAD time.

We're they ruined?

I can 100% confirm that Motorbike helmets and Hard hats take around 40 or so punches before you can knock someone out.

EDIT : Or 3-4 baseball bat hits.

Didn't read. A bunch of the heavy melees have headshot multipliers, dealing enough damage to knock out in one hit and overwhelms helmet protection.

Read them up on http://dayzdb.com.

No, I just saw a guy with pristine helmet, started punching him and after 4 or 5 punches he was down

That is nice. What about the rest of the body? You shouldn't be able to tank axe blows/knife stabs/what may you, regardless of where they hit.

Have you ever hit yourself in the limb before? I have, because of a stupid mistake with a 3/4-sized (I am a rather small man, so a smaller axe is more comfortable to use) splitting axe. The axe-head sheared through the log I was splitting, bounced off the platform, and literally bounced off my shin. The axe was travelling under it's own weight and inertia at that point (without me putting any muscle behind the swing, as that is how you are supposed to split logs), and only struck my leg a glancing blow via the toe of the blade. It SPLIT my shinbone in HALF (like a log, hehehe), without splitting the skin open. I wasn't bleeding (not on the outside, at least), but I was in A LOT of pain, and most definitely could not walk on the leg. I was lucky I had someone with me, as otherwise I would have been screwed.

Now imagine if I had put some strength behind that, and aimed it at your chest.

Should an axe or other melee weapon beat a firearm in a fight across an open field? Of course not. Should a melee weapon be able to be put into play faster than a longarm in CQC or in urban combat? Yep. Melee weapons are tools of ambush, and therefore, should kill someone dead, not take 8-10 blows to kill someone.

Look at the latest video posted in the KOS thread, of someone wandering around Elektro axing people. They take more than 8 hits to die! Ridiculous.

The hard hat is the knockout-proof headgear in my experience. I walked up and down the coast with one of those and I was the undisputed boxing champ. No one could knock me out (until I got shot).

I am currently wearing a motorcycle helmet, on experimental and it does protect form being punched out.

How do i find the experimental servers? And it's awesome that it protects you, what about the "worker hat" you know the ones you use when constructing buildings.

That is extreamly true. Reality : I stab a person 1-2 times, expecially at the chest/head he would have died. In DayZ SA, I can beat up a zombie with a machete for ages, like 15 times to the head with it.

In the DayZ mod, you are able to see how much blood you have, and blood = your health. But what about in the SA? How can you know if your health is low or to find out how much a weapon deals?

Anyone here knows how the "ruingear system" works? I feel like If I hit someone with a .50 caliber in the chest that 90% of the gear will be ruined. Is it random how much that gets ruined? If you kill them by shoting on the head or on the pants, will the chest items be destroyed aswell?
