maninthewall 470 Posted June 6, 2014 DayZ needs more civillian clothing, more jackets, long sleeved tshirts and such.I think military clothes should be really rare to find, even in military spawn. Nowadays you can almost detect a KOS:er just by his clothes, usually the ones with fully green military clothes are the ones that kill on sight.Either way, in a real apocalypse, you'd probably wear whatever you wear on normal days. Unfortunately, I'm probably the only one who thinks that way. This won't change dayz much, but I'm really tired of seeing all green guys running around tbh.

skypig 139 Posted June 6, 2014 to be honest.. in an apocalyptic setting I'd wear what I had.. but if I found camo I'd wear camo.but in dayz I make it a point not to wear military stuff but civi things in green/browns
Filipsss 19 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) I have military clothes in my wardrobe. Using them when going to mountains etc... not because they are green but those clothes are really well made and they can sustain really bad terrain, sharp rocks and more without tearing into shreds... Why would I wear something else in zombie apocalypse ? Edited June 6, 2014 by Filipsss

Durable material designed to take abuse in wilderness scenarios that ALSO helps camouflage you? Sign my happy ass up. And I mean, lets be honest, there is a SHITLOAD of civilian clothing out there that most people pickup and wear for a while already. Munson_fry (DayZ) 312 Posted June 6, 2014 arrghhhh i cant find my armani suit and my gucci shoes ! its zombiapocalypse and i will go in style or i wont leave the house . that aside ... full tsko or hunting gear anything else is plain stupid.
kimmaz 63 Posted June 6, 2014 the point off clothes is not min/maxing. its about having your own identity, your own story, and to be able to tell who you meet. I think its grreat! I would say more types of clothes cant be a bad thing. as for what is "best" irl isnt that relevant. its only looks in the game. there's only minor advantage with military gear its not like its that good..,
Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) Yes, because the first thought people are going to have is "How do I look like a soldier and gets the big gunz" in apocalypse  Wannabe soldier boys are the ones I KoS. kimmaz 63 Posted June 6, 2014 also as of now, there's no stealth. the zombies can see you even if you wear a bush on your head. its not like you can sneak past em anymore. MAYBE when its possible to crouch, sneak your way around the zombies, that the clothing have differences. in the mod, your noise and visibility wasn't affected by clothing. but i hope it will in standalone. I really enjoyed sneaking through a city, looting it without being spotted(by zombies). it was a fun challenge that id like to be able to do once again!
sloasdaylight 129 Posted June 6, 2014 Yes, because the first thought people are going to have is "How do I look like a soldier and gets the big gunz" in apocalypse  Wannabe soldier boys are the ones I KoS. I think the first thought most people are going to have is "How can I maximize my chance of surviving this?" In my case, it's getting gear that hides me from sight, as best as possible, and lets me carry the most stuff. Military/Hunter gear lets me do that, so that's what I'm getting. You think I'm going to pass on a Megavest if I already have a chest holster? Or a hunter backpack if I have a kid's briefcase?
Briljin 102 Posted June 6, 2014 Yes, because the first thought people are going to have is "How do I look like a soldier and gets the big gunz" in apocalypse  Wannabe soldier boys are the ones I KoS. It has nothing to do with "wannabe solider" and everyone to do with increasing your chance of survival. Military/hunting gear tends to be more functional and better suited for survival settings.

I've got some milsurp Forest BDU's in my closet that I use when I go camping. The whole ensemble consists of a shirt-jacket (with 4 pockets), trousers (with 6 pockets), boots, and a web belt, on which I can carry about 3 MOLLE-compatible pouches. All of these articles of clothing put together can carry about 3 days worth of gear comfortably. Better yet, it is somewhat water-resistant, tear-resistant, comfortable, and can hide me almost anywhere (it breaks up your outline, which is far more important in camouflage than simple coloration)Why would I wear anything else? Not to mention the huge disparity in carry space between military loot and civilian loot even though realistically the civilian loot could usually carry just as much if not more than the military clothing. Bambi Population Control 90 Posted June 6, 2014 Well, with some of this I agree, but then, it will allow way too much freedom of expression to wear clothes, and people are just going to dress ridiculous clothes just for the "lolz". And if I see someone wearing a cap improperly A.K.A "swagging" he's as good as dead. I use camo pants and combat boots in my everyday life. Not only it makes you look tougher, but when properly worn, those camo pants are the most comfortable piece of clothing I have ever worn and allow really flexible movement. +shaved head, and you are ready to go whenever you want to, wherever you to, except a night club. Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted June 6, 2014 For some people. I enjoy both hardcore and regular for different reasons.I hear ya. I use 3 pp for screwing around on with testing and pvp. Hardcore for actually playing the game but I definitely do not like not being able to see over my shoulder with a mountain pack or the down jacket. I will stick with the taloon pack before picking up a mountain pack. Are those the only two items that hinder the over the shoulder view?
liquidsnake 275 Posted June 6, 2014 I solely wear military clothing because it holds more gear. The actual only reason. I wish there were some civilian clothing which holds as much as the best set of military clothing does. I love to wear civ clothing, but the restriction of carrying gear just gets to me
Bororm 1156 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) I solely wear military clothing because it holds more gear. The actual only reason. I wish there were some civilian clothing which holds as much as the best set of military clothing does. I love to wear civ clothing, but the restriction of carrying gear just gets to me I think this is true of most people. Would be nice if there were more options for civ gear with larger inventories. Personally, I wear goofy outfits and don't like the camo/mil gear at all, I care very little about inventory space. But most people are all about the slots, and just grab whatever has more regardless of aesthetics, which has the end result of mil/camo gear. Nothing wrong with it, just ends up with the boring result of everyone looking very similar. Edited June 6, 2014 by Bororm
kimmaz 63 Posted June 6, 2014 I wish the inventory was smaller overall. that way you would have to choose and we could have different loadout's depending on purpuse and playstyle. I had sks, shotgun and 3 pistols with mags and 2 stacks of ammo, 3 tools once. I think its too much. Ive tried playing without backpack, and I can have with me everything i might need! blue jeans, leather jacket with 4 slots, and pistol in a holster. compass, 1 bandage, 1 ammo stack, 1 mag, and a can opener.. thats 5 slots, and i even got 3 slots for food!
