Sawed-off IZH-43 disappearing out of Hunter backpack

Recommended Posts

I've been getting a strange "bug" since today. My Sawed-off IZH-43 continuously keeps disappearing out of my Hunter Backpack!

Every time I log back in to the game my Sawed-off IZH-43 (plus munitions and snap-loader) are gone from my bag - and it's always just that item.

I say "always" because it's happened 4 times today! Twice I was really lucky and found a new shotgun right after spawning but every damn time I would log off and come back it would be gone again. It's driving me nuts.

I had more or less the exact same gear yesterday and this never happened...

I have tried changing backpacks in case mine was bugged somehow but it kept happening with the new one too.

I've changed servers too.

I am (was) carrying a total of 4 weapons at the moment. A FNX45 in my jacket, an M4A1 strapped to my back, an SKS in my hands and until today a sawn-off lZH-43 in my backpack.

I really doubt that the amount of guns makes a difference since I have carried more before and as said I had the same weapons yesterday and I played a couple of times without this disappearing problem.

Any ideas?

when you log back on and the game attempts too "organize" your gear in the pack, are you carrying an almost full pack? do you put the shotty on the top, and single slot items lower down?

in my case I am pretty sure I had one empty slot and I had the shotty on the bottom row, when I logged on and checked the pack I had 5 empty slots - that's what got me sayin to meself "didn't I have a sawn off in here yesterday?"

You should make or add to a Bug Report about this.

Your bags must be organized from the top to bottom. If you have empty bag slots above the items within the bag, when you log on the game organizes them from top to bottom. Sometimes items can be deleted during this process, so make sure to leave no empty slots above items in your bag.

I'm pretty sure I had my shotgun on the bottom row of my backpack with (probably) very few empty slots left.

The suggestions in this thread lead me to believe that it is possibly indeed the way the stuff is ordered in the backpack since I had the shotty in my pack before without it dissapearing.

I will try Grimey Rick's suggestion of filling my bag from the top leaving empty slots at the very bottom. Hopefully this changes the outcome. I will report back, once I've found yet another shotty.

Honestly, this isn't something people should have to worry about. So like I said before, if this is happening to you, make a bug report or add to one if there already is one.

This is exactly why items disappear from inventory and exactly why we need to have a better database system for what we are carrying.  Items shouldn't just magically vanish just because the game decided you didn't have enough room to rearrange all of your gear the ass backwards way it loves to do, and disappear from your person completely.  At the least they should be dropped to the ground upon logging in.

You should make or add to a Bug Report about this.

It's been known about pretty much since the sawed off shotgun and larger items have been introduced into the game.

I didn't claim I like how it works, did I? I'm just informing him how to avoid losing items until it's fixed. I reported this issue months ago and am still waiting for a fix.

Everyone else is right, when you log back in, it will reorganize your backpack. If the shotgun doesn't have room, it will be deleted. Annoying I know.

Hey, I have an idea. Instead of complaining about the bug in the wrong thread, go to http://feedback.dayzgame.com/ and report the bug there.

Thanks B)

I hope that we will be able to turn that off, it's really annoying...

Where do you see me complaining? I was merely stating an issue I was having, but I wasn't sure it was a bug per se and wanted some feedback before I went further, which more-or-less everyone else in this thread provided, bar you. If you'd even bother reading all the thread and replies you'd see that it's been mentioned several times by others that it might be an idea to enter this (again) in to the bug report even though it's an issue which is already known.

Not only that but I got a solution to beating this problem from various people in this thread (thanks again guys!) which I wouldn't have gotten from the bug report and which I was hoping to get and wasn't dissapointed (until your post).

So yeah - great idea by you. So great in fact that someone already mentioned this "idea" 7 posts before you started to spout your drivel.

What you might want to do is rather than trying (and failing) to be a smart-Alec is to provide some actual useful information on the subject matter or move on to another thread to provide nothing of use to someone else.

Thanks B)

I've had this issue multiple times but NOT just with the sawed off. I've had a sawed off shotgun, protector case, ammo box & two pistols all disappear from my inventory. I have no idea why the game decides it's going to re-organize your inventory for you, but it's annoying. The biggest issue I've noticed so far is when carrying a fishing pole in the backup. Since it takes up a full 6 slots, veritcally, you really have to be careful what you place in the bag. I've noticed if I have the rod & mostly things that take up 4 slots (2x2) it's not an issue. However, if I have something like the shotty or 1 slot & 2x2 slot items, it will make some of them disappear. I've learned to start moving things around myself to avoid the issue.

I had the same issue with my hunting bag and my poor shawdy :( ,  my maosin disappeared from my hands as well.

My first instinct was to check the forums and possibly make a thread about it to find out the opinions of others who share the same issue but, i can see thats been done already :) Am reporting the issue now
