Why the server is So Expensive?

Why the DayZ server is so expensive? Our asian can't afford that!! We just need our own server TAT who can help us?

As long as you have a monopoly you can make the prices, of course you still have to take the hardware prices into account and electricity is also not getting cheaper but more expensive by the minute. Data volume/transfer and having the game installed and configured on a server is the least of the problems.

the key is.. how much gameserver can u run on one hardwareserver...

 

this game is not optimized.. so u cant run the same ammount of gameservers as bf or cod or any other game could handle.

 

more gameservers per hardware = cheaper gameservers

As this game isn't released yet the serverfiles will not be released to public and stay with trusted serverhosts.

 

It's not only the fact that only certain providers can host servers, DayZ Servers are also fairly resource-demanding, which is why they're that pricey. Hardware costs quite a bit after all.

Yah right ! As Quantum2k6 stated, server must be a resource hogs as many devs stated this too. So you can t run as many servers/machine as others games = pricey ( just for now i hope )

and in recent game conference, they talked about this a little, like how multi threading and guaranteed data, and server limited to lower players may be cheaper (but i think thats plans for way ahead)

 

Added:

i run a sandbox type server (not dayz) and it cost about 350US a month an can only handle about 40-50 players, so, good prices here :P

DayZ servers aren't easy to run, simple as that, and like one of the people above said, prices for stuff isn't getting cheaper.

Don't waste your money on a server.  All you can do is restart the server when needed and kick people.  Other than that, your just another player on it. Complete rip off.
