Why I generally avoid servers at night...

Recommended Posts

lol throw a flare.

You will have to throw flares all along your traveling route? Wtf. Just think of daylight. The chances you get seen travelling over the land is about 1% per hour. Vs an NVG player at night it is reduced by further 50%.

Where is the danger? At hotspots. Throw a flare in the town and job done. Omg start thinking.

That's assuming you have the chance to throw said flares' date=' while stationary, after not dying from the initial ambush from NVG'd bandit. Surviving that scenario is about as probable as finding working Huey and no players around it.

The point is to throw the flares down BEFORE you're getting shot at.

I swear, PvE players need their hand held every step of the god damn way.

I don't think you are thinking it through.

Let's play a game.

In real life, I will get a sniper rifle and nvg, and you get some road flares.

Then, you will be forced to run around in pitch black all night from now on until I decide to shoot you.

Bang. Too late, you're dead.

You see, they can shoot you before you are aware of their presence.

I swear, sometimes these pvp players have no logic circuitry.

i like to play at night.

1) i never ran into another player with NVG. i have been playing at night in cherno, elektro, berenzino, in the woods, along the coast, in small towns, north, east and west. i have played through full nights, without any contact at all, plenty times. maybe i'm just lucky.

2) i can hear zombies at night, just as at day. dayz not only about what you see. also zombies won't see as good as in daylight.

3) i have no trouble finding a full server with night time. and even on full servers. to find another player you need to go to hotspots or just be very lucky, again the same as at daylight. but once you get familiar with night like me, you can use it to your advantage against players who are not so comfy with it.

continually throw down flares as you move around at night cos someone may have nvg? stupid suggestion. but so is suggesting nvg be removed.

to op: just because an item gives one an advantage in some situations is no reason to call for its removal. should guns be removed because they give someone an advantage over someone who doesnt have a gun?

At not point have I suggested the removal of NVG's. You have me mistaken with another. I just pointed out why I don't tend to play at night.

Pls point me to these mythical servers you play on. If you say they are filled at night with 40+ players, then by all means, share with the rest of us.

we need to do somthing about the "everyone = threat" idea circulating in the comunity lol.

Everyone is a threat. You are in a kill or be killed environment. Choosing to trust someone you do not know is the biggest risk you can take. People with the attitude you have would be the first to die in a post apocalyptic world.

i havent played during the DAY in a month. always night servers with like 2 people on them, i dont have NVGs. i just prefer killing zombies rather than people. oh and btw, HDR on very high, and full brightness and gamme, makes night as bright as daytime. just give it a minute or two for your eyes in game to adjust.

You don't even need NVG to play at night... ever tried increasing your gamma and brightness all the way up and putting your HDR quality on max? It makes you see almost everything, one flare only while having this setting increases it's light range by like x6.

Wish there was a way to make this setting not affect night vision without the proper equipment.

NVGs need to spawn more regularly in more locations. I think all three or at least the two northern airfields should spawn them. I think full night servers would be great.

Its not even about NVGs, its about making the screen not PITCH BLACK and having more light sources, like who do street lamps not work?

I dont know if its realistic or not, but its unplayable. IN REAL LIFE you have senses that cannot be put into this game that let you know when your close to someone and im sure you eyes can adjust to allow you to see like at least 10 feet a front of you.

There is a reason NO other game ever created has pitch black screen for night which looks like your monitor is off, not cause they are not hardcore but because its stupid and unplayable.

( waiting for people with custom settings, NVGs or just trolls who dont play at nigh to call be a care-bear).

Street lamps require electricity or gas to run.

The staff at the power plant probably won't keep coming to work when the zombies keep eating them or the snipers keep shooting them.

Oh i see haha, makes sense.

Did not think it went that far, for some odd reason.

BTW, except from the red light, what does the military light offer? Is the light less visible from distance?

Also, can it be possible to make it so that flashpoints are attached to your body somehow? Like on your shoulder.

I've stopped playing at night when I've been crawling around thinking that Im unseen and then I've decided to turn gamma on...I was a sitting duck for all this time.

So,unless you turn gamma on,you are at disadvantage(Im not even touching NVGs here). And that kills one of the most fun experience - try playing with a friend at night without gamma tricks - one lights enemies with flashlight, other shoots.Do not keep flashlight turned on when it is not needed , use chemlights not to lose each other. Its a great fun.

So' date=' just to make sure I'm reading you correctly, you're saying that your typical nighttime trip consists of one long unbroken chain of flares, from town to town? Because yeah, that sounds super safe.

[/quote']

No that's not what I'm saying. I suggest you search on youtube for exactly what flares look like to an NVG player.

Say you're hitting up Elektro. Toss a flare on the north side of elektro (just south of the powerplant), and any NVG player on the hills will see nothing but bright green. Then go about your business.

You have to know where you're likely to be attacked FROM, and put a flare between you and that spot. Don't put flares down ON your location, the ambient lighting from the flare will give you enough visibility even 100m off.

Had an absolute blast on a server that was night earlier (don't know why it was, the servers actual time was around 4pm) but someone had thrown a flair and I went o have a look, and so did about 7 other people. Ended up all joining up and raiding the city, we did lose each other and went off into 2 groups in the end but I found some pretty trust worthy people, gave me a gun and took me to their tents (and no, I didnt steal anything, infact, put 4 blood bags in them when they had logged off)

I picked up buddies at NW today. I was driving with NVGs and they chucked flares all over the place. Had no troubles finding them at all. Even from quite a distance away I was possible to distinguish between players and zombies pretty damn easily. The funniest thing is probably that you can't see chemlights without NVGs after 25/50/75m (depending on color). But even those things stick out like a sore thumb with NVGs from 200m away.

NVG's has to go. or supplied with limited rare batteries.

other than that,

try going into big town, in pack of three people, where only one has a flashlight. lighting the way for all three, surrounded by growls from the darkness. leaves extremely strong impressions.

and yeah, this topic belongs to "night is too fucking dark"

Well your friends don't know what they're doing.

pause the video at 2:23, you can see the hill that has a flare on it completely saturated.

o . . . . . . . F <- flare

^ you

x <- enemy will still see you with NVG's.

-------------------------

o <- you

F <- flare

x <- enemy will see only silhouettes.

-------------------------

HILL

F <- flare

o <- you on hill below flare

X <- NVG enemy will see washed out hill.

I wanted to go PKing with NVGs a few days ago and couldn't find a single night server that had more than 15 people. I don't even bother playing at night anymore even though I have NVGs, servers are just too dead.
