Ammo loss chance while reloading and sprinting

Recommended Posts

Hello people,my suggestion is preety self explanatory.

What if we give a certain percentage chance,of the player droping his ammo

on the ground while reloading his weapon in full spinting?

Reloading should be best done while stationary cause alot of mishaps can happen while running.

Maybe it's a bit much on the realism side, but it could give a nice touch to the game.

What is your opinion on this?

hahah yeah this makes great sense actually - kudos dude - I feel like this happens to me all the time already, I swear when I am in dire straits and the zeds are a closing in I'm droppin shells like crazy just to get two more loaded in the shotty. (its really just that massive FPS drop I get when I get myself involved in close encounters around buildings but it sure feels like I'm a clumsy oaf at times)

maybe for shotguns...but not for weapons that use mags

A good idea :3 Though I think far less ammo overall would somewhat solve whatever this is trying to solve. It'd stop the silly people saying: "wtf I can't sprint while reloading without dropping ammo" (see all the "drop food while opening cans" -gate)

When you try to load the bullet in the mag,

you still have a chance of accidently dropping it.

I know it well, cause it has happened to me (G3 mag).

Yes i agree, but there is one small diference. The food that drops from the open cans, can't be recovered, the bullets can.

They will just lie on the ground. The only frustration would be the time to pick it back up,but while in combat that would be hard.

It would give an incentive to players to look for cover while reloading.

This is not important for me. There are many other things that need to be added

I though you meant reloading weapons, not mags...anyway,if you meant mags too, than you are right, there are big chances to lose some bullets while filling mag and sprint at same time

It would definitely add to the whole "realism" thing. Loading rounds into a magazine is a pretty simple concept, but I can definitely see someone in panic mode, hands shaking as they are running with a couple zombies right behind them or hearing rounds whip past their head or impact the ground by their feet.

I don't know how many of you have actually been shot at in the real world, but it definitely makes even the easiest movements and actions tougher because your adrenaline and nerves are going wild.

Dropping a magazine in a panic COULD happen, but so can your belt becoming undone and you pants falling to your waist. Dropping magazines isn't such a common occurrence that it needs to be implemented in game, especially since you can practice to prevent doing such things..

I wonder how many people that want more random fumbling martial interaction would be accepting of the same random fumbling introduced to social interactions?

To simulate the stress of social interactions in a world with no rules, characters may randomly flip the bird during interaction.

To simulate the common misunderstandings of high-stress communication, characters will randomly draw and aim their weapon at other players.

And maybe add in, the Mic muting randomly, but appearing to work fine. And perhaps a random accidental discharge of your weapon if you are pointing it at someone for a long time while your mic is active. Maybe even a chance of a panic attack that forces your character into run-mode upon meeting another player.

When you change a mag, the empty mag should fall to the ground. Then you pick it up if you want it.

It should NOT magically replace itself in your backpack, specially if you're running or under fire..

That only happens to "thugs" and "ghetto lovers". Anyone who wears their pants like a normal person shouldn't have to worry about their pants dropping to their ankles in a panic.

That does remind me of some video I was watching where some fat slob was outside shooting a shotgun into the air. He fires the shot and his pants immediately fall to his ankles. Good laughs.

How about there being a 30-45% chance of that happening while running? it wouldn't make sense to drop a clip while simultaneously reloading and running.

Sounds like a bloody nuisance, not a great feature.

When Rocket talked about "authenticity" over sheer "realism" this kind of stuff is what I like to think he was referring to...

I though that he was talking about bullets, not magazines...I was in the army and we used AK rifles, and i can tell you that I never lost a single bullet or mag...You almost always have some cover and time to stop and reload your weapon.Anyway I think its so rare that its not so important to be in game...

I was talking while reloading bullets into weapons like mosin or magnum, the magazine as a whole is for m4s,AKs and etc...

I'm talking about all weapon categories :)

It's not realistic that your charachter sprints full speed dodging incoming fire while perfoming a perfect 3 second reload every time.

Like i said...I agree that there is chance to drop some bullets while you reloading shotgun, mosin or magnum(weapons that are not using mags)...but if you are under fire at open, you will not reload your weapon. You will run to cover as fast as you can, and try to stay alive. And than you will change your mag,or reload bullets...Anyway,keep your mag full, and go from cover to cover and you have big chances of surviving, and you will have time to reload :)
