Weyland Yutani (DayZ) 1159 Posted May 24, 2014 So I went fishing in 0.45 and for the life of me I can't catch one. Tried about 5 different sized ponds. If there any technique once they start nibbling? Like do you wait to pull or spam to pull or etc? I've exhausted all technique and still w/o a catch. :(
odin_lowe 3686 Posted May 24, 2014 Did you use worms? And did use a hook? I had both, but got killed before using them...
Weyland Yutani (DayZ) 1159 Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) Did you use worms? And did use a hook? I had both, but got killed before using them... Yeah, I have everything. I've spent about an hour RL time with no fish. Curious if there is a bug with the bait. I've gotten several nibbles but the bait is still there and once the bait is on you can't take it off to rebait. Sistinas1973 50 Posted May 24, 2014 I think he means, check what options come up via scroll wheel while in 1st person. Fish don't magically bite as soon as you drop the line in the water. When one hooks, you'll see the option appear with the other scroll options.
hombrecz 832 Posted May 24, 2014 Just wish experimentals were not so rubberbanding, would make testing new stuff so much more exciting.

Answer found here:* Once the red font appears saying the fish had bitten the bait, "QUICKLY" scroll and select "pull out" option. I've had the fish bite the bait, nothing says they "hook" in my experience. (Which I was a total freak for when I played it.)
detrimented 1 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) I've actually had an easy time fishing so far, though i suppose its currently more random than skill based, at least at its early stages. A short summary of what i did on my first tries was toss the line, check it several times until i got a message saying there is movement nearby and just waited for a bite. Once you have a bite make sure to quickly pull out before you lose your chance (and yes, its a matter of seconds). Afterwards, to remain successful i simply switched spot and remained patient. I'd say it was an average of 3 mins for every bite so far.Cooked fish fillet anyone? courtesy of the chef ;) Edited May 25, 2014 by Detrimental
Katana67 2907 Posted May 25, 2014 On an unrelated note, does the shading on the Megavest look off? Everything else looks so natural, but the black and green Megavest just sticks out like a sore thumb.
Reg Park 160 Posted May 25, 2014 I wanted to fish but the rubber banding is comical (tried even crawling out of buildings) plus the game kept crashing on me, sigh.....back on stable now.
