Atleast they are being honest.

 

Outright telling the community that this cannot be fixed is far better than letting it go on and never fixing it.

 

It worked for all the ARMA games right? :P

 

It's getting crazy heated over there at Reddit. I posted in this thread after reading it, went outside to smoke and by the time I came back in it had like 70 more replies.

This is exactly what I said is the problem with hiring community management people just three days ago.

Our feedback tracker manager can only go off the information he has at hand. Currently, it is not a bug because there is nothing we can do about it in the current engine. To do anything we would have to replace the renderer. Curiously enough, that is what we are doing.

Please for the love of god, do not crucify our community and feedback staff - or you will be stuck with Brian and me forever! I requested the feedback manager do a full regression on all voted ticket items with thecurrent status. He has been on the project a few weeks, he will post the status of what he knows and where things are currently at.

FACT: We cannot fix this in the current rendering engine. It is impossible.

FACT: We are currently replacing the entire rendering engine.

Once we have replaced it, we will review the situation.

The guy was doing what he was told and used one wrong word and is getting crucified for it. Tough crowd these DayZ fans are.

How it played inside my head...

Meanwhile in the DayZ Nuclear Facilities

-Regular day,worker on the Reactor command PC,doing his usuall work.

Suddenly....."Reactor level:Critical"

-What the hell? Oh God,what did i do? Please somebody save us!!!!

*Rocket steps in*

-I'll save you,give me a keyboard! Quickly!

*types*

Moments later...

"Reactor Stabilized"

Then everyone cheering and women screaming "HAVE MY CHILDREN"

 

But really now,the representative that poor guy at the feedback tracker must have gotten some serious hate.

It's good that it was all a big misunderstanding.

It's now time to scrap night time, if lights can go through walls then what's the point in working on making night better. I'm thinking this will be the first of many engine limitations in this flawed project as Rocket said himself.

I really think this is about the time where people HAVE to start seeing the direction this game is going...

Apparently its to expensive for them to try and fix or some such of they were to upgrade things.

Why? If they've made significant progress on the rendering side of things, then we should hopefully have it implemented in not too distant future. At the same time though, they've always released loads of info on a patch before it actually went live, so I'm worried this is going to take a WHILE...

sure it's always been this way, it's only a hindrance in peoples minds - those that use it as an excuse to not play at night ( at least now its not tears like - boo hoo " I can't play at night NVG's!!"... waaaa "I can't play at night thermal scopes". etc etc).  Believe me, Dayz has never been better to play at night than it is now, yes it will be  much improved when they sort a lot of stuff out, but it's still very playable and really enjoyable too.  You haven't played this game properly yet until you suddenly hear Z's footsteps running at you in the pitch dark..

doesn't bother me in slightest, I think you'd be surprised at the numbers of people who don't exploit, you don't find everyone gltiching in walls do you?, only wankers, same for gamma exploiters. You're always going to bump into wankers in online gaming, as has always been the case.. *shrugs* i've as much chance being killed by a glitch, someone playing on a potato on all low settings, as I have of being killed by a gamma exploiter, I play loads at night, and i've not been killed yet..

Wtf is this shit ? you are trying to justify a game breaking bug by saying people who need to play at high FOVs due to multi monitor set ups or high resolutions should have some kind of penalty ?

 

A weapons magnification should remain the same for everyone regardless of their FOV setting.

 

Not justifying it, I'm saying folks who use graphics settings to their advantage shouldn't be an accepted norm.

 

You're artificially tweaking your graphics settings to see more than someone else.

 

If you're not okay with third person looking around corners, then you can't be in support of FOV's which allow you to SEE more than others in first-person without being hypocritical. It's the same concept. Both provide an artificially enhanced view.

back on the fov thing, i think  standard fov is too limiting, and i also think that iron sights distance should be locked. playing the game with standard fov is like having your eyes a foot or two in front of your face, you look down and you cant see your body properly, where as when you turn the fov up a bit, it seems much more natural. i want to play with much higher fov, like almost maximum. im not wanting to do it for any advantage, i want to do it because it will give more of a realistic view, but without locked iron sights/scope whatever, its not an option anyway its too zoomed out, unless i put my face right up to my 24 inch monitor. i think lots of players want high fov without scoped penalty for same reason, its a natural view, we dont want to cheat or get an advantage at all, it is a natural advantage sure, because it s a more natural view, thats it.

You are always going to bump into hackers too,so what is your point?

Stop defending night time for the sake of the argument,when you know that there are some serious issues with it.

Gamma explotation and flashlight "beacons" that illuminate the whole city are 2 bugs that are almost gamebreaking.

They need to be fixed and imo,should be a high priority.

if they fix the "light through walls" issue and Zombies not glitching through walls, i am totally satisfied with the game. they dont Need to release more Content if they fix those bugs!

 

if they fix those minor bugs and make it full release and stop developemnt completely.  I WILL ALSO BE A HAPPY PERSON

 

ist just those 2 bugs that completely destroy my nightplay experience!

 

AND I LOVE TO PLAY AT NIGHT! the fear, the Immersion, the constant danger ,  THE THRILLS^^

If y'all bothered to read more into the Reddit post, he CLEARLY says that it's impossible to fix it with the current Renderer which is why when they finally implement the new one later on that this light issue will be fixed. Reading does some amazing wonders. :)

Thought he said only after they implement the new renderer that they will once again review on the problem again. Doesn't guarantee a fix =/

before the release they said "we have a new engine. we can make soooo much cool things with it. it doesnt Limit us like the arma2 engine!"   yet now they come and say shit like this!

 

i am ok with the slow progressoin of developement.   atleast they do something!   but dont sell shit as Gold!!!!
