Karmaterror 982 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) My answer is no.... We have all the info we need on the inventory screen. It only takes a couple of seconds to check and all status things can be seen. The only ones it dosent show are broken arms or legs, and that has real in game implications for us to spot. It feels to me like a constant intrusion on my immersion, especially in rain lol. I think it would be much better to just keep adding to the list of inventory boxes for other statuses, and keep our in game screens clear of clutter. So what you guys think, keep em or get rid? blunce 991 Posted May 13, 2014 The short answer; Yes. New content will be added that require status messages, which we, the community, will be testing.

Phoenix777 43 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) Yeah, it's mostly for testing; like say its raining and you enter a certain part of a building and it starts saying " I am getting wet" you'd make a report that there's something wrong with that building.Basically they're like debug messages... Hopefully they'll get rid of them or make them much more rare when the game finally comes out. Edited May 13, 2014 by Phoenix777

I think I know what ya mean....things for illnesses like "my stomach hurts" or something. That could also be done in the inv tho with a box that just states "stomach pain", maybe a small ingame hint like your guy rubbing his belly/head or whatever to lead you to checking the inv :)
zeroy 240 Posted May 13, 2014 Make it an option to toggle in menu?

UltimateGentleman 355 Posted May 13, 2014 Yeah sick of you are getting wet you are no longer getting wet you are getting wet you are no longer getting wet I'm hungry you are getting wet you are no longer getting wet. That one certainly needs to go, I mean it's fairly obvious when you're getting wet.For when you're not getting wet, for example under a tree the sound should be the indicator the rain noise should muffle a bit to show you're not getting hit. Everything else in the TAB menu for a fracture your character should just be holding their arm or limping. Hunger shown by stomach growling.Thirst I'm not sure about though, maybe when you badly need one it could come up saying so.
OrLoK 16185 Posted May 13, 2014 Hello there AFAIK the text messages are "placeholders" (yeah, that word again). There should be a more subtle and more intuitive system inbound at a later date. Bear in mind when we were discussing this with the devs it was a long time ago so much may have changed. Rgds LoK
Karmaterror 982 Posted May 13, 2014 legacy UI from teh mod Plz.whinging text pop up are anoying. I really did like that old UI, I just feel it would look nicer with nothing at all on our screens. Have it all there on the inv, quick to access and check, even in a firefight but no clutter :)
agentneo 337 Posted May 13, 2014 Yes we know it is 'place holder' and 'alpha'. If anyone is going to say alpha on every thread they may as well not bother, because we already know that. But we can at least give feedback then it won;t get left as something we can just deal with forever like things in these games often are, not priority and left broken. So I agree OP and furthurmore I would like to see toggles in the options menu for this.
HIHBGaming 14 Posted May 13, 2014 There was talk at the beginning of having moodlets like Project Zomboid or something similar. Although, the text can be annoying at times I'm sure it's not going to be something permanent.
Karmaterror 982 Posted May 13, 2014 Well its good to hear its a placeholder....they do love those don't they lol Ithink a simple animation and status box on inv would be great, no clutter but all the relevant info relayed to player. The animation lets you know you have a headache or whatever, then digging a little deeper into inv you can see the severity. Animations could be real simple... Headache....hold head for a sec every few mins....gets quicker with severityStomach pain.....hold stomach....same as aboveSweating/High temp.....wipe brow....same again

(and mor eimportantly because it demonstarates that blood/health is being lost shows rater your need is extremely urgent or not)
St. Jimmy 1631 Posted May 13, 2014 I think at least there shouldn't bee that much spam. IMO we need customizable UI so we can toggle and place what we want to see. Just like we can customize UI in Arma 3 but also we could toggle them on/off like the GPS with keys or from a menu. That way people who don't like overlays can toggle them off but they can toggle them on when needed.

It's clean, it's minimal, and at a quick clance i can determine how sever my hunger, thirst or injury is. I can except not having a precision "debug monitor" with excact values as that could be somewhat against the idea of having to make decision based on 'feeling'. i think the real time hunger meter groing from light green to dark red, then flashing clearly indiccates how badly hungry you are. this is akin to "feeling" more hungry, then ultimately weak or ill from malnourishment IRL. Its doesnt give a definitive numerical value but its fairly clear to tell if im dieing of starvation and how quickly.

Just take it easy, this is one of the nicest discussion threads I've seen so far on the forum. :P It'll likely stick around until either a better system that can tell the same thing is introduced or the majority of the statuses and causes are in and working. Everyone says "do the mod thing" but I wonder if there isn't another way that information can be conveyed, without spamming us. Obviously a player should be able to deduce when they are getting wet on their own, but then even that could be put in the status indicator's nice colour coding system (very faint blue indicates getting wet, then transitions into the damp one we have now.) Well its good to hear its a placeholder....they do love those don't they lol Ithink a simple animation and status box on inv would be great, no clutter but all the relevant info relayed to player. If you are holding your stomach that is its own uninterruptible animation, so can you not shoot or swing your weapon during that? Wheras you would realistically be able to fire your weapon and take cover, even if you were having stomach cramps. I just don't think its so simple, but I'd like to hear more. In my mind it would be an uninterruptable animation....but only last a second or two. At the wrong time that could stab you in the back, but the length would make it not so bad to live with. Alls it is for in my eyes is a visual que sending the player to the inv screen to do a detailed assessment :) EDIT - oh yeah and an increasing amount of effect on gameplay. If your stomach is 50% sore (orange status box) its just one 2 second animation every 5 mins or so.....if its 95% (or a red status box) then its happening much more frequently...like once a min. They are not however an absolute answer or retort. Obviously one is free to express one's thoughts on any subject/topic that's within the rules. As to the GUI not being a priority, well I know for a fact that is not true BUT feel free to knock ideas around all decent ideas are wanted. Rgds LoK
