Yesterday I played the Mod after 200 hours of Standalone.

Recommended Posts

My friends and I have put in about 150 hours of SA.

We have since all moved back to EPOCH.

SA did do a good job on some things... like the inventory system, controls, lighting/graphics

But other than that there just isnt fuck all to do in SA.  The game has zero content in its current state.

you probably never left the coast in those 150 hours. SA has more content than mod (not sure about EPOCH, but from videos it looked very dull and empty). When people complain about "no content" all they mean is cars and helicopters, which isn't that much of a content. It is just two items. Once SA get hunting and cars there will be people complaining about no content, because there still will be no helicopters. Yet, servers are full and there are hundreds of them.

How?

It's one shot kill, you can mow down the entire map. Every single zombie. It's SO easy.

No matter how much they respawn.

I can just run around the map no matter what location killing everything just with an M4A1, without stopping to think, and ammo will never be a problem.

Anyone can.

yeah they need to go to  headshot only on the new zeds or at least once they stop walking through walls there excuse is they aren't zombies they are infected and to that I say well they still need headshots only for the simple faxt if they are pumped to the gills with adrenaline and full of rage and they are mindless so pain is not an issue much like a fuck crazed on PCP or meth they can take bullets as well as punishment. so that covers realism now make the game harder. because as of now hardest thing in SA is deciding what colors to wear like Barbie for men.except where ken is murdered everyday

Wow.  You went full retard with this post.  Never go full retard bro.

Content, as in crafting, scavenging, base building, persistent objects, player economy... you know all the things that make a game a fucking game?  SA has none of those things.  The MOD (particularity EPOCH) has all of them.

Helicopters and vehicles in general are not content... they are items.  SA has a ton of items, worthless items with nothing to do with them.  The content comes from repairing, building, re-fueling vehicles... that is CONTENT.  The infrastructure surrounding an item

a mod, is a modification of an existing game, dayz mod has been around for a long time

dayz standalone is a NEW game, being built and tested as we speak,

any comparision is misguided at best. surely thats it, we really need to stop posting on these clueless topics, let the noobs think what they want

So, yesterday, I finally found a server that would provide me a hardcore, original DayZ experience.

Goddamn it was like a whole different game, it was MUCH MORE difficult than the Standalone.

It was actually scary and frustrating, and suprisingly, those feelings weren't coming from glitches and game breaking bugs, like they do in the Standalone, and people were suprisingly more friendly and cooperative than in the Standalone.

Like, I actually had to use my brain to go around places, and had to scout a zone before actually entering and zombies ARE a real danger. Headshot only of course, and they were fast as fuck, difficult to shoot if you only had a pistol and 2 mags, and I had a TERRIBLE time trying to find a vehicle.

Being tactical actually has a use other than looking cool and pro.

Oh and night time. That was such a NICE and terrifying experience, it actually affected how the zombies detected you, unlike in the Standalone.

I was fighting to survive.

And then I see Standalone, I can tell, that it's not going in the right direction. With each update it gets easier and easier.

When I think of Standalone, I think of "Call Of Duty: I'm Hungry Edition".

Yes, ladies, I said it, no matter how much of that "Alpha" shit you SPAM at me.

I see the roadmap, the plans for it, and I just see it getting easier.

Fancy graphics (actually quite bad), fancy guns, fancy clothes.

The only thing Standalone has is character customization and better inventory system WHICH should have animations when accessing parts of your gear like the backpack.

10/10 people, if you're new to DayZ, and haven't played the Mod, I totally recommend it. There's a lot of server variety, for the hardcore, and Epoch for the easier thing.

I played the original mod back in the day, but the Standalone is already 10 times better IMHO. And it's still only in Alpha which really surprises me.

Sure there's lots of features that are in the mod that will eventually make it to the Standalone but I expected it to be much worse at this stage. So far it's pretty damn good if you ask me.

Then again these are all just opinions much like yours. ;)

Haha I forgot about that. I tried both of those manoeuvres when I first picked up the Standalone. Got taken out pretty darn quick when the Zeds just kept coming at me.....lol.

Hate to say it but its alpha. I would rather them work on core things instead of balancing loot and all that crap. I promise as soon as the whole survival part is made harder the cod kosers will run for the hills or just stop playing, which in turn will make the community better.

Yes, ladies, I said it

Who are you, Mark Levin?

I like how you use "and don't say it's an alpha" like a get out of jail free card.

It's an alpha. The devs have barely got the game engine working, and you're going to whine about the condition of the game? That's like standing under a wooden frame in the rain and then complaining that your house isn't keeping you dry.

We are playtesters. When they release an update, we test the new features and we give feedback so that these features can be implemented properly in future.

If you don't like the alpha, don't play it. This little thread you've made contributes nothing. It isn't a criticism. It isn't anything new. It isn't productive in any way. It's just you crying and whining because you clicked "I understand" without actually understanding what that means.

What if, not everyone want a game harder than 4 Dark Souls taped together?

I'm not one for the ballbusting difficulty you seem to want out of DayZ. Personally, I like it as it is. I wish people wouldn't assume everyone wants something that is annoyingly difficult. It's idiotic, and narrow-minded.

Your opinion is not valid.

DayZ is supposed to be an anti-game. True fans of DayZ enjoy the difficulty. The fun IS in the challenge. People like you with your awful opinions should have absolutely no say. The game is supposed to be difficult and not cater to people who want it easy, such as yourself. Your opinion and other like minded people are why I wish DayZ was never as commercially successful as it was. It was a niche product that got mainstream and because of that, we get a watered down product.

Good day sir, you're the type of person who has caused DayZ to become bland.

Hmm.... Coming from a guy who's played the DayZ mod before it was mainstream, I don't think the challenge is the best part. I don't want it easy, but I don't need ridiculous difficulty.

The fact you're so arrogant as to assume this simply astounds me. It's extremely stubborn, really.

I'm a fan of challenge, but not of the ridiculous difficulty OP wants. If anything, you're the type of person that has caused the DayZ forums to become a mess. The type of person that believes their opinion is the only way, and that all disbelievers should be burned on the stake.

There are plenty of "true fans" of DayZ who've played from the beginning who don't always enjoy the difficulty.

Why so narrow minded? You should respect others' opinions. Whether or not they agree with your opinion of the game having perfect difficulty.

(Personally, I believe DayZ is quite fun right now. And it isn't that hard.)

The funniest thing is that DayZ is completely unique as a survival-horror, and you still say it is niche and watered down. Please name one game that does what DayZ does, but better.

I'm excluding H1Z1, because that'll crumble under its hype.

DayZ is an unique experience. The point of it is to cater to every style. Whether it be casual fun, or 1337 faze optix hardmode gameplay as you seem to like. That's the best feature of DayZ, well, ANY sandbox. Individual playstyles. If you're going to cry at anyone because you dislike their playstyle, cry at the wall. DayZ isn't CoD. It should have multiple playstyles. And you obviously must hate having different playstyles.

Maybe I just don't understand the psyche of hardcore 1337 gamers. I play DayZ to have a good time. Not to decapitate my future children via difficulty.

Jesus, People like you are the worst. When private servers come out, and hardcore 1337 1 blood quickskopz servers are online, can you stop crying?

(And your opinion is less valid than mine)

EDIT: Fixed text wall. No idea why TAB doesn't work.

Would like to point out that there is really only one thing in this Alpha that is going to kill you.  Other players.  We don't get sick, we don't get cold, starving and dying of thirst are none existent.   This is why it's a straight pvp match.  Players don't have to worry about carrying around actual supplies to survive so the majority have thousands of rounds of ammo(slight exaggeration).  Let them get the meat of the game in before the tweaking starts.

All I read was "The point of it is to cater to every style" and lost it. There shouldn't be catering, to anything. That's the FUCKING PROBLEM.

It's supposed to be brutally hard. You should be dying and learning from your mistakes over and over again. DayZ has no fucking difficulty right now.  That's the problem. The game is nothing right now. It's CoD Chernarus Zombie infestation.

"The funniest thing is that DayZ is completely unique as a survival-horror, and you still say it is niche and watered down. Please name one game that does what DayZ does, but better."

The mod does. The mod is actually fun and challenging. No place is safe, zombies take a decent amount of damage, they can be stealthed passed. The mod was and still IS great.

And your cop-out statement that i'm just hating on different playstyles is so left field I can't even. Difficulty has nothing to do with playstyle, if anything it changes how the fuck you're going to react. There should be no playstyles other than action-reaction.

Great post mate, beans to you. Always welcome diferent opinions and legitimate arguments with some kind of information or examples behind them. Simply stating opinions as facts or using one liners like "because alpha" or "LOL go play CoD" is simply childish and anoying.

Of course the mod is more difficult and challenging.  The mod is complete.  DayZ SA is far from it.

From a lot of the information I have gathered. They are taking the game in the complete wrong direction.

It's sickening. They want to omit certain weapons because they're "Functionally the same." ......... where's the god damn variety? They want to stream line the game, and they're going to make it "accessible" for people..

No. No. No. DayZ should never be a game that's "accessible" I want to work, struggle and be challenged to achieve my goals ingame, not handed to me on a silver plate and congratulating me on how awesome I am.

The game has to be accessible to a broad enough spectrum of players to achieve a healthy revenue spread. 60 m in alpha pre sales is a good foundation to build a great game but the 180 m for a successful post launch relies upon more than the 10-20% leet unforgiving mode players.

I'm sorry. I broke into laughter. I use the term "Catering" as a form of "using". As in, it is meant for. Difficulty actually does have quite a influence upon playstyle. I play casually, so I like to be a hero. If I played hardcore 1337 no deaths, I'd be a bandit.

"There should be no playstyles other than action-reaction"

This isn't CoD. What if I want to be a hero, avoiding fights rather than partaking in them?

I sincerely wish you could accept that not everyone wants brutal difficulty. You are still a "true DayZ player" even if you like less hardcore gameplay. I'm not going to bother until you learn to understand that other people have opinions. DayZ should NEVER have a singular playstyle. Once that happens, it's essentially beat out by 99% of the games on Roblox or something. This is what makes it fun. Not unforgiving difficulty. Immersion, and the ability to choose your own style. I admit, the mod was awesome, but I still love the SA. Am I not allowed to classify myself as a DayZ fan until I play ballbusting difficulty?

I'll buy you a copy of Dark Souls. Then, will you stop trying to merge the best part of DayZ; its variety of playstyles into a gray mess of cliché?

I got that far.  Sorry but they just aren't a danger at all.  They're bugged out pieces of malarky.  I would hardly call the mod more difficult.  Eating and drinking are miles easier, no opening cans of food on the mod.

Bad graphics, lol.  You must be one of those people that think ArmA 3 looks better in the same engine.  Bravo sir.
