So how do you loot?

Recommended Posts

I am still relatively new to this game but I was curious as to how you go about looting. I have learned quickly what to do and not do when going into town for loot and here are my ideas from playing with newer players than myself. 1. Always know how many empty slots you have available. I have seen too many people rush into a building find something then spend precious moments trying to decide what to drop in order to pick stuff up. 2. Now what your looking for and how many slots you will need to get it. Not all the time you will no what you will run across but having a good idea and preparing yourself for maybe running into it is key. 3. Always double click the item. Dragging and dropping the item is time consuming and while you are in menu someone could be coming to kill you. (Trust me I know) 4. Always be alert and aware of your surroundings. Organizing inventory while in a military hot zone is stupid and you should always be moving quickly and knowing what or who is around you. So these are what I think you should do.... what do u guys think?

I run into NE airfield and do the detroit slider up to an armed man. I knock him out, and shoot him in the face.
I take everything he had.
looting done, 20 minutes~

I bumble around the few places I know have axes or some sort of weapon and then see where it goes from there. I might survive to gear up and find some friendlies to team up with - but more often then not I get shot when I least expect it. My favorite is grouping with a bunch of random fresh spawns and zerging the nearest geared up person with bare fists!

Still need to try that... The whole running up to someone geared up and knocking them out... I'm sure they feel like shit when they wake up and have nothing

I just run, loot and say hello if I see someone. I'm more cautious in military bases and I make sure I won't be looting with someone at the same time. I still never shoot first until I'm certain that I'm getting killed.

If I see something that I want but my inventory is full I don't think much what I drop. Most of the time it's drinks or food ans I'll likely find it again later if I really need it. Sometimes i sacrifice items for a cooler character.

It is a very rare thing for me to grab loot off of anyone dead or alive, especially now that most of the gear gets ruined if you are in a firefight.I tend to go into most places very quickly and get out very quickly.Leave your inventory shuffling for later in a safer spot if possible. As fresh spawn water first, food secondary, then I tend to grab any & all ammo, bandages or clothing for bandages and, something to protect myself.Any type of pack I can get my hands on then I work from there.

1. Shoot geared guy in legs/head

2. Take stuff

3. Loot high value buildings en route to places

Done.

I run straight to Elektro, then on to Novy/Stary, then to the military base at Veresnik, then to the NWAF. It takes about an hour, but is the safest way to loot.  Berenzino/NEAF is an absolute nightmare.

Yeah I haven't played much high pop servers just trying to get used to the controls. Just tried one today and man I traveled all around the coast because I felt ready to meet people and interact... negatively or positively. No one! Not even in elecktro. Came by the airfield still didn't see anyone. Thought the coast was supposed to be the most populated but I could just have about looted everything on the way down and would have been good. Didn't even take a pop shot from a sniper... guess the new spawn points really make the south coast a lot easier to loot from.

I didn't even know about the military barracks in the woods to the south west until I seen a video of it. I always just stopped at the airfield and tent city across the street and no farther west. I'll have to check that out

My ideal run is Elektro - Cherno - Balota - Zelenogorsk - Vybor - NWAF

Sometimes I stop by the base between Balota and Zelenogorsk and sometimes I go to NEAF from NWAF.

If I spawn in Berezino, it's Berezino - Svetloyarsk - Cherno Polana - NEAF - (NWAF)

Lmao killing your own kind my friend lol

That's the fun of it. DayZ has only two modes, in my opinion:

1) Berezino (or NEAF) warfare with a bunch of freshies and hackers with infinite ammo.

2) Camping one spot for days and killing people who serverhop airfields.

I represent the "outsiders" and "lone wolves" here. This is how we do...

Spawn. Run inland. Loot small town. Move on to the next. Repeat.

The Orlovets, Factory, Polana, Gorka circuit is fun. Then you got the area including and around Green Mountain that's fun. Or the area to the north and west of the NWAF is cool.

Bottom line: avoid PvP arenas and Military locations.

Spawn on the east coast.

Run to the west.

Reap the untouched Zeleno, Pustoshka, Veresnik, Vybor, NWAF corridor.

Live the rest of my life.

I don't loot. I already have everything and when you don't die, you don't lose your stuff.

Worked for me pretty well so far.

5. If you're going to loot someone you just killed, make sure he's actually dead.  I can't remember if it was Goldy or Layne, but one of them got one-punched on stream a few days ago.  The attacker, however, failed to realize that his target was only unconscious, and would be waking up fairly soon.  Which leads to the next tip:

6. If you are going to loot an unconscious person, disarm him first.  Continuing from the incident above, the attacker began looting the body, but ignored the gun.  His target then woke up, gun still in his hands, and promptly shot the looter in the face.

move west, maybe a bit of sprinting away if spawn town is looted, depends, when healthy and armed start being more careful, by time i get west im spending more time watching than moving usually, can observe towns like vybor and their surroundings  for ages before moving into them.

m4'd up with good army kit, usually just move to outer houses of a town when only needing food, and move in hills or trees, sometimes its exciting to move fully through a town to loot it but that can feel like a stupid idea in retrospect sometimes when im back on the beach haha, its great to loot with another player, when one can cover doors or areas from close or far, creates a kind of mission structure in game

usually get off the coast ASAP and check a few buildings along the way.. stop in a tiny village and fuel up.. then take my time carefully finding gear.. takes about an hour if I'm lazy and then I'm set for life (however short of a time that might be lol)

Just being curious. Do you actually "play" the game?
