zeroy 240 Posted May 6, 2014 The game for the most part right is "kill or get killed" - so yes, if you KoS you will survive longer *in theory*
Mos1ey 6301 Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) Survival of the fittest. That doesn't mean you have to kill everyone. If you can properly control a situation then you should easily be able to survive without killing everyone. Of course some people pretty much force your hand, but the vast majority can be spared. Of course some people pretty much force your hand, but the vast majority can be spared.Valid point, but at this point in the game's progress (in my experience), EVERYONE is a valid threat. If you leave them be, without leting them know you are even around, you run the risk of them finding you on their own- and I know what the odds of survival are there. If you *do* identify yourself and demand compliance, the only ones who are going to comply are the true noobs- the ones who just started playing. A seasoned player is most likely going to find some wiggle room in the situation to fight back and prevent their own robbery/ disarming. I prefer not to give anyone at all any wiggle room or chance for escape. Death to everyone I see, is my only assured means of living til the next encounter.

You do whatever you have to do to cover your ass.Sometimes you have to kill or be killed, sometimes you can be neutral, communicate and, walk away...sometimes you have to kill on sight because you know no good to you will come of it.Always defend yourself, whether you run and fight another day,go to the grave on a standoff or talk things through and head on your merry way...... Not if you don't try to rob or disarm them. ;) I usually just say "hello", we swap some items if anyone needs anything, and then we go our separate ways. If you can control a situation without being condescending you'd be surprised how many people are willing to co-operate.

Its the countless number testosterone filled KOS COD KIDs that just ruin everyone's experience. So you have not hit puberty you have given up and you are now adding to the number of players that ruin the game. So if i was you i would stick to the way you used to play and head to the hardcore servers where most people care to save ammo, food etc. If more people don't fall into the trap the game will slowly begin to get better again. real meatshield 424 Posted May 6, 2014 Not if you don't try to rob or disarm them. ;) I never try to rob anyone. That requires way more effort and stress than I am willing to put into the game right now :) Disarming is a must, though. I wouldn't want to take their weapon- I already have my own- but I would not allow them to vacate the area with means to do to me, what I would surely do to them if roles were reversed. They can come back for their weapon after I am clear of the area but I have no faith in leaving a man armed and allowing him to leave my line of sight, just to flank and kill me. Cynical outlook? Sure. But it has kept me alive long enough ;)
Deathlove 2286 Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) You can still be friendly OP. Just not with EVERYONE you freaking see. You have to be stealthier and pick and choose your confrontations. Besides being a killer wont save you from a hacker. One shot through a wall and all the hard work is down the drain. Best to try and make the most of it and not be a regular KOSer Edited May 6, 2014 by Deathlove

Sinphaltimus 262 Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) I find my best interactions with other players are typically those that occur off the beaten path. I've teamed up with complete strangers on more than one occasion and have had plenty of fun. I've also been betrayed and killed by a few after playing nicely together. It's a tough call but I tend to remain flexible. This allows me to get the most out of the game. I might spend an entire session KoS'ing then with a particular encounter be completely friendly just because of how it presents itself. I've been a douche too, all depends on my nerves at the time. Enjoy KoS'ing, nothing wrong with it, but keep your options open if you want to experience all that DayZ has to offer. Powell (DayZ) 734 Posted May 6, 2014 I'd say 3/4 times I run into someone, I get shot instantly and die. It wears you down but I have more resolve than that
NagsterTheGangster 388 Posted May 6, 2014 I have found my mic to be a more useful item then any weapon in the game. Have talked myself out of more gunfights then ive even been in lol

Resupplying my medical equipment on a 5 person server, and I am walking down the street in Elektro. From behind me, I hear "PUT YOUR FUCKING HANDS IN THE AIR!" So, I comply. Drop my SKS, and happily greet said player with a cheery "hello! What can I help you with?" We have a chat, he gives me ammo for my SKS, we exchange jackets (we wanted eachother's), and his buddy shows me up and gives me enough food and water to get me to the NWAF and back. I wave them off, and they go on their merry way. I did my thing, and got the supplies I needed to help out a bit. Give people a chance; sometimes the risk is worth it.

n1kko 326 Posted May 6, 2014 I don't KoS, but some force my hand. I have been playing on the same character... theoretically.... for 4 days. I have only died once from other players, and the other times I rubber banned back to the tops of buildings and fallen to my death, or I've died by the infamous glitching through floors. Kill count doesn't make you a good player, it just means you know how to point and shoot, nor is how much you kill anywhere close to related to how long you live.Life: 4 daysKills: 1People detained, robbed, and let go:
soulfirez 901 Posted May 6, 2014 I gave KoS a go for 2 days figured id see what the great thing was.. I still dont know because it seemed pretty boring to me then i only managed to get 11 kills in 2 days 2 hours each day.. I still get more thrill stalking a player and declaring myself and then seeing what happens next so much fun vs i know what happens next with KoS see shoot maybe it takes 2 bullets or 3 or 4 depending on my aim.. I like PvP So if i declare myself and they jump to cover and a shoot out happens great its more fun than cllick your dead if they chat mayne trade happens not pulling that trigger(clicking left mouse) just adds more possibilities to the game. Will you die more maybe( still my average life is more than 10 hours of play easily ) and you have alot of fun tense exciting times. There is no k/d score in dayz maybe stop playing like there is one??
