I think that crows should circle around dead bodies. They should land on the body and peck at it, slowly ruining all of it's gear. This will prevent people from dying, then just going back and getting all of their stuff. Also, it will help other people to find bodies.

 

Now, this shouldn't be instant after death like the flies in the mod. For example, one crow might circle after 5 minutes of the body being dead, then more and more will come. After 30 minutes, say, the gear will be ruined and strewn about the ground as if crows had gotten to it.

Interesting idea, but if you wanted to add the gear aspect, they shouldn't be able to ruin things like guns, bullets, compasses, or other objects that the birds would likely just scratch.

 

It would also be cool if the birds could fly away with the smaller foodstuffs, but that's something that most likely isn't possible.

Whats the end the game mechanic going to be for dead bodies? Currently it is 10 minutes and then it despawns unless someone is in very close proximity, is that staying the same or is going to become persistent until server restart?

 

I like the idea, I like the idea a lot but it all depends on the answers to the above questions. It would cool tracking a crow to a dead body.
