Deathlove 2286 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) http://guns.wikia.com/wiki/Thompson_submachine_gun Although these are pretty ubber rare now a days i guess. It fired the .45 ACP rounds that quite a few of our guns in DAYZ use today. Not sure how rare the actual ACP American version would be though in Russia. There is also this one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PPSh-41 Fires 7.62x25 rounds. Idk what do you guys think? Plus there both made out of allot of wood to like most Russian weapons lol. liquidsnake 275 Posted May 1, 2014 The PPSh-41 should probably in a museum and the Tommy gun is nowhere to be found in Russia. And yes I know it's not Russia, but it borders Russia to the north and the area itself is a lot like Russia, so I'll call it Russia.

Would be nice to see the ammunition used for more than just the pistols currently.
Bambi Population Control 90 Posted May 1, 2014 Where & why the hell should guns like that be in Chernarus, dammit I thought this was DayZ not GTA V.

Both are Czech-made, and Chernarus is based off the Czech Republic
gibonez 3633 Posted May 1, 2014 Why would ww2 guns be found in eastern europe in 2014 + ?
makomachine 263 Posted May 1, 2014 Maybe not a Tommy gun - but a Beretta CX4 in .45 might be possible. I know they distribute to the Czech Republic - and I own one, so that would be cool. Kind of an obscure gun but would be nice in close quarters and for my own nostalgia anyway. :)

I just think there needs to be some Functional weapons besides the pistols that us the .45 ACP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beretta_Cx4_Storm This ones from Italy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Lisle_carbine UK http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halc%C3%B3n_M-1943 Argentina http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_%26_Koch_UMP Germany *Actually i think this ones pretty much on its way to being in game.* http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KRISS_Vector USA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M50_Reising I could see this one being more realistic for civilian kind of use. nl 986 Posted May 1, 2014 I'd much rather see some of the guns less known by the general public than the weapons we all know very well from ANY OTHER game with weapons in it.

Also i really have not seen the American Kriss Vector being used to much in many movies and games. It looks like a really really odd gun. gibonez 3633 Posted May 1, 2014 The same reason why were using Mosins for sniping i guess? XD Oh and don't forget SKS lol. Mosins and sks were made in the MILLIONS upon millions. The thompson was discontinued in the middle of the war because it was too hard and expensive to make,

O3ObMe to i was just giving some examples of guns that use the .45 ACP that are NOT pistols. They had better get the accuracy right on the CX4 if they were to implement it - one if the few guns I can hit coke bottle size targets with in rapid fire inside 40 yards. ;)

A collector's piece would be reasonable, but where to find it in a place like Chernarus? Not in a military base, or a police station, it makes as little sense as finding SKS' and Mosins there. I would agree to have them if they required more maintenance than the average modern gun and were REALLY unique and eventually underpowered against modern weapons if not maintained properly. The more variety the less board you will get trying to hunt down the rare weapons latter on when the game is more complete.
nl 986 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) Again I think the focus is too much on weapons. I would not mind if we just had a handful of varieties and very little ammo to be found. A long range bolt rifle, a semi-auto rifle, some pistols and revolvers, a hunting shotgun and a .22 hunting rifle and a (cross-) bow should (could) cover all needed functions in the game. (Powerful) Scopes should be very rare. IMO the guns are tools for survival, not a main goal in themselves. I couldn't care less about an engraved 1911 or all the attachments for the M4. My wish for this game is to go for realism and survival mechanics, NOT massive shoot-outs. Edited May 1, 2014 by SAK

So pump out as many cool guns as you can than tone them down in spawn rate once beta/release pops up. You forgot there also making ANOTHER more grittier 1911 variant as well lol. agouti 105 Posted May 1, 2014 Because rebels often have strange guns. Listen to what the veterans find among rebel caches. Why would there be a gun from world war II in 2014? The same reason in the US we have guns from WWII. But the legality of owenership in a poor fictional soviet satellite state is questionable? And there are rebels? All the more reason for them to exist! They'd value them more than americans. The thompson would be iffy but not unbelievable. This really all depends on where Chernarus is located. In certain middle eastern countries, the "tee-bore" aka the .30 cal Tokarev round is really all the rage. There guns like the Ppsh and the PPS-42, and even the PPD-40 would make perfect sense. (They're not legal to own there anymore, and even semi-auto versions were recently banned in some places, which mimic the shape and function of these old smgs). The caliber is liked, there are rebels, they want long-arms, it all pans out. "This belongs in a museum blah blah blah. If the gun still works as intended and you have ammo for it, you're going to use it. I'll be frank, I was referring to Pakistan, and how you can find bizarre things.

Im not good with explaining things in long drawn out sentence structures as to why they should be in the game. We are playing a game after all I think part of the fun is not JUST surviving but the variety in gun power and melee we find as well when we go out into the fictional world of Dayz. So as many others have said in past threads i dont think we should be dismissing every gun because it dosn't 100% fit the region. Katana67 2907 Posted May 2, 2014 Agreed! Would love to see both eventually. There was a Thompson in one of the pics I had of the gun shop in Prague. More weapons! Less discrimination!
