What I predict DayZ will achieve by the end of the year.

Pretty sure part of the actual bit that they've mentioned is that the survivors in dayz are immune to the infection, which is why they are still alive.

Yes Zeds need to be harder and in EVERY zombie film one bite and ur fucked. Why is Rocket being such a pussy about this?

Yeah I agree come on Rocket.

the reason i think you should have a timer is it gives a sense of urgency to your last hours.they are already working on a suicide option, so you would be able to pull your trigger if happened and u didnt want to wait. However the small time to turn would give a chance to dump your items etc. Also if you got near another survivor it would be dangerous them playing with you 'till the end'

but whether there is a delay or not. please add it. Its the only we're ever going to fear zombies, is if we get too close they infect us. Otherwise its always going to be a case of running past the zombies, playful melee, and only scared of bleeding, which always requires bandage, its too easy to just bleed

We need bleed + Infection + major problems to make zombies scary

even with the clipping through walls and faster than sprint, their Still too easy

Well they need to drop that and re-write their story. its making the game into deathmatch.

while your system is probably in part to blame, I recently got a really nice sysetm and it still stutters in cities. its the current build man.

Yeah. I was thinking of upgrading to a computer that would run a game like DayZ Standalone smoothly at like 40-80 fps. How much would that cost ?

NO NO NO! LOL

No dumping your items - if you die your items should die with you. With your items dying there's no need for a timer . A guy above you said we're immune to the infection but that's just a cop out and you're right, when you can just run passed zeds and keep running around them they're a joke.

Sometimes in the mod I'd get 30 zombies on my ass and play the Benny Hill theme tune though my mic as I ran into Cherno. The amount of players that ran off the road and hid when they saw me coming was hilarious. Just to spice things up I'd run backwards, or chase one zombie and then after a while it looked like I was chasing them chasing me.

In other words they were a complete joke and when you weren't having fun with them, they were just irritating fucks stopping you from picking up gear (which most times you'd just take a couple of hits just to pick up a can of beans - wtf?).

Zeds are what will make a zombie apoc game. If one game get's the zeds right then all the others will just be shite in comparison. I'm playing a zombie apoc game, not a survival/hunting/crafting game.

Yeah. I was thinking of upgrading to a computer that would run a game like DayZ Standalone smoothly at like 40-80 fps. How much would that cost ?

What direction did you think it was going to go?

I was thinking it would go the direction of the MOD... you know the thing that was so popular that it made this happen.....  I wanted a polished, less exploitable, optimized, version of the MOD.

But the reality is most of the best features of the MOD came to being AFTER Rocket left to do SA so I guess it as wrong to assume SA would have gone that way.

Well for a start which mod are you talking about - there were several and as far as I see it, having played DayZ about a month after the mod came out, it's sticking exactly too it just giving us more things. How do you think the SA is drifting away from the mod?

Well I started with the vanilla MOD around the same time you did and moved to a few others ending with Epoch.

When I say the MOD I mean all of the MODs taken in totality, not just the first MOD Rocket created which he actually left pretty early on and wasnt ever the most popular of all the MODS by the way.

Its not so much that I think they have drifted away from the MOD because the reality is SA is an empty shell of a game with very little content in its current state, its that I don't agree with their development resource allocation.  I would rater see them spending their sprint points developing the best features from all of the MODs rather than reinventing the wheel on what I see as bullshit.

To me the fact they they seem to be focusing on these small ticket petty features tells me they know they are incapable of gettignthe big ticket features to work OR they never intended on adding them in which case I would see it as drifting away from the mods

Or they're working on other things like the big stuff but that's going to take ages and in the meantime they can also work on smaller things to tweak those. If they didn't think they could make the game, why buy another software house and outsource a team for the hunting?

I don't see anything particularly brilliant the newer mods did. DayZ original is what brought everyone to DayZ. Building indestructible bases and having an economy system isn't what a zombie apocalypse is all about. Isn't that pretty much all Epoch has to offer over the original, bases and trade? I only ever played it a few times and every time I did, hackers ruined the whole thing so went back to BMRF vanilla.

Oh it's another one of these posts where uneducated people come in to show everyone what they don't know about DayZ and Game Development.

Why is everyone with the letter H as the first letter of their name giving me beans today?? lol :)

I Predict Sergey Titov takes charge and turn the game into right direction.                                                                                                                                                                                                   Then you can buy hats and bats & cheating will be reduced to nearly zero.

Dean will make new games in his studio for mobile phones.

well. its funny.

my previous build was based on a dula-core office machine off the shelf with a ATI HD5770 + AMD Athlon II X2 215. stock clocks, and it got 15-20 fps occasionaly drops to 10 in cities. "Playable" but meh.

I now have I7 3770, 2x nvidia GTX 780 SLI, 12GB corsair DDR3 ram. i still Get stutters.i average a stable 80-90FPS in the SA with most settings cranked up. but the texture pop and frame hangs in cities still happen. using hardware mointoring tools i never come close to peaking my CPU, GPUs, or VRAM. its just poor optimization with the current build.

If your rig does what you want right now, i would suggest you wait a bit and see. if SA is pretty much your only reason for needing an upgrade it will likely get better once thier done bug fixing and can focus more on performance optimizations.

What I predict DayZ will achieve by the end of the year....

That the majority of the people that spent $30 on an alpha game are still gonna be bitching about what they don't like/want in the game even if it goes to beta. The devs have already realized that they are not going to be able to please everyone in content, speed, bug fixes or any of the things we post in here to vent about.I just plan on playing it as long as I can because there is nothing else out there like it and I have been hooked on it since the first time I played the original mod.So maybe we'll get a more optimistic and positive community by the end of the year.I certainly hope so.

It wont die because of H1Z1, I'm not going to take anything away from H1 because I haven't played it (recent stream looked pretty good though) but I think there will be major differences between the two that will cater to different people. Dayz I think will be much deeper and more hardcore with detailed health and disease systems and stamina compared to H1Z1 which they said in stream probably wont have limb damage and looks like you just heal with med kits like typical games.

Also the style and settings are pretty different for example some like myself prefer the russian setting over yet another american setting.

Breaking point and 2017 are just mods which will have there limits, and can not be compared to creating a game from scratch.

Personally ill give both games ago but I already prefer Dayz, Theres still a LOT of time for improvement and content.

On a side note the RV engine is extremely impressive and anyone who says otherwise is talking utter shit. Sure it has its issues as does the Forgelight engine both are impressive though and have there own strengths.

Oh and I cannot fucking wait for The forest.

what limits? please explain...as there doesnt seem to be any or any potential limits.

as for h1z1, i dont think its a different game. They are trying to get in onthe zombie survival genre...same shit diff dev.

happens to be an interesting engine that can support hundreds of players per server, larger maps and everything the mod did+ on release...

time will tell of course.

breaking point -

more weapons

4 maps

1 new custom built from ground up map for bp

arma 3 ballistics, zoom, etc = amazing

vehicles

heli crash dynamic

crashed c130

realistic pvp

faction systems with perks (love it or hate it)

i can keep going here....

considering SA is using a variant of the RV engine, and arma 3 is using rv4 engine, how can you say there are any limits?? they are using essentially the same engine ... am i right?

That is because instead of simply modifying like they did in the mod, they are actually remaking/adding whole parts of it.

This!

I love how people rush devs, then bitch when its buggy or not "perfect".

"Take your time, but hurry up!"

I rather wait for quality. Its...in...alpha for a reason. They forced no one to participate. We chose to spend $29.99 for early access. Not to mention the disclaimer where we click "I understand" before playing.

pa·tience

ˈpāSHəns

noun

1.

the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.

I seriously do not understand what all the complaining is about.  I can literally walk into any damn house I desire, and pick up a can of beans and throw it against the wall, throw it out the door, even throw it into a pond. That kind of innovation only happens once in a great while in gaming. I just keep buying copies, trying to get them to 3 million - hopefully we can get someone else to catch my thrown can then.  All you complainers ask for way too much.

Oh, and I have a different beanie for color for every day of the week, beat that Rust, H1Z1, 7 Days to Die, and every other "zombie" sim!

By the end of the year, I am making an assumption based off the slow poke ass rate dayz is going.

What I think will get implemented by the end of the year:

-Bikes

-Animals to hunt

- Two or 3 new weapons

- A new shirt

- 1 new attachment

I think I can say that's a safe assumption on the SLOW RATE this is going.

Have your hopes up guys!!

He is a wizard. Must be legit.
