Faster way to get military geared up?

Recommended Posts

Yah but knowledge is power.

Once you know where things are in this game, including military bases, then why would you not go and loot them?

Some people like leveling, others enjoy the endgame.

I'm not saying high-target loot spots shouldn't be something to shoot for. Obviously places of value are an important part of the looting aspect.

My main concern is that you can go somewhere like Balota or the NWAF and get essentially everything you'll need. I'm not saying they need to start removing buildings/tents from there, but simply lower the overall loot spawnrates at said locations or at least give a higher chance to spawn junk/broken stuff.

it's to camp an ATC and kill server hoppers on a low population server.

And i kill ATC campers killing server hoppers :) - around around we go ... :D

Go West to the NWAF.. then head South looting all the military bases and Zelenogorsk before you hit Balota.

You are now done looting and fully geared. Find something to do.

:)

If you read the OP post fully he is looking a quicker way to get geared up - that way you say is about 3X times longer ;)

Plenty of that already, even at Balota.

@OP: There is no need to be in military gear. Loot a random town off the coastline and you will likely have everthing you need to play with your friends.

There is no need for pristine camo clothes and pristine fully-kitted M4 to play. Raincoat and shotgun/blazer/... work, too, and you get them in 10 min when lucky, 20 when not. The difference between camo and green is negligible anyway. And you still die from 1 hit. So... why waste time on getting everything and then die in a second?

Adapt your playing style for less time comsuming gearing. That's what I did and the game became 10 times more fun.

Depends on what you aim for thats correct. A trip to balota can be rewarding but as you said timeconsuming. Sometimes it pays off to wander berezino / solny for a while and you surely find a firefight...just wait it out then loot away ;)

this is how i played on experimental!  but my stable chars all wont die!   unless i Play completely unaware of my surroundings or try to meet up with steam friends on high Population Areas!

with the new buildings (Police stations, medicals) you really dont Need to go to an airfield for a gun!

there is sks, mosin, blaze and shotguns everyhwere! and the "ammo houses" , as i call them, mostly spawn some ammo! really no Need to head Inland, unless you flee from someone or wanna chill some alone!

Can't wait for the game being in beta and stuff get balanced.

Then, I believe, weapons (atleast mil grade) will be a lot harder to come by, same with ammo.

Then finding SKS or even damned shotty with few shots, will be something!

I haven't anything else to add.

Don't be mean lol.

Yeah OP with the new spawns my knowledge of unlooted areas has gone out the window, but as someone said before, I'd imagine staroye to be completely untouched. Failing that, staroye isn't too far from novy and stary, and they have police stations, piano houses, arch houses etc galore.

also I should point out that rifles now spawn in the red/greeen double story buildings with the white doors. Found an SKS or two in those, very useful as even on looted towns people ignore those houses.

As a hero, you only need some basic gear for yourself, some useful stuff like can openers, food, drink, a sack+rope to give freshspawns, and some balls to fight bandits with. You don't need full milgear, a secondary weapon, ballistic helmet and gasmask, and if anything those items identify you as a bandit rather than a hero. Not that appearance really makes a difference to the end result.

Like Irish said, the run to NWAF is definitely worth it if you're looking to make the most efficient trip. From any spawn location, it's no more than a half hour to NWAF. Sometimes I'll run there for the crème de la crème stuff, other times I just spawn in Berezino or Svetlojarsk and make do with what I can find. It depends on my mood. =)

I've made a little list showing you the places you'll have the most luck looting particular weapons and attachments. Keep in mind some of these weapons/attachments spawn in locations I haven't mentioned; this list is for the most common spawns:

WEAPONS

  • Mosin/SKS/B95 - Police Stations, Schools, TEC Office Buildings. The Mosin and B95 are now spawning quite often at Military Bases
  • M4A1 - Airstrips/fields, Military Bases, Military Camps (SWAF, NWAF)
  • FNX45, M1911, CR75, Magnum .357 - Military Bases, Fire Stations, Schools, TEC Office Buildings

ATTACHMENTS

  • Long Range Scope, ACOG, M68, RV1, BUIS, FNP45 MRD, Suppressor (Pistol), Suppressor 556 (M4A1), MP/RIS Handguard, MP/CQB Buttstock,  - Airstrips/fields, Military Bases, Military Camps (SWAF, NWAF)
  • PU Scope, Mosin M44 Compensator, ATLAS Bipod, Pistol Flashlight, Weapon Flashlight - Airstrips/fields, Military Bases, Military Camps (SWAF, NWAF), Pubs, Taverns, Schools, Storage Units (Chapaevsk, Chernaya Polana, etc.), TEC Office Buildings

I think that's pretty much everything. Let me know if I missed something.

A straight No! to the above. Ive had several time already been shot by M4/SKS/Mosin round at various distance (albeit quite far sometimes) and only went unconscious - a check of my gear on being back to life (after 1-2 minutes) and the evidence is there, Assault vest, Pristine clothes will help you survived some amount of damage - being healthy is another big factor for this.

Figure out where you have spawned, move to bigger city, loot unfavorable buildings as a way to not attract unwanted attention.

Find SKS, good clothes, good chest item, find protector cases, and find ammo.

You're now good to go for running in and out of an airfield. Continue fast 10 minute loot runs in and out til you got best gear.

Of course, this is assuming you are alone, and playing in a 40 pop.

I know how to get all the good gear, but I usually only wear a black UK vest, black clothes, red radar cap, and respirator.

I'm a medic.

Mosin: an awesome new loot spawn is there since last patch (seen 3 so far!):

1. Grab some food and drink

2. Don't bother with any of the coastal cities

3. Bolt straight for Stary/Kabanino/NWAF/Vybor/Pustoshka/Zelenogorsk

4. ????

5. Become the lord of your land

Sort of a bummer.

The thing with the NW airfield is I always get lost going there, I'm a guy who likes to follow the road lol. I wish there was a video tutorial showing a way to get there. I get to olsha then I get lost lol

Since the .44 update I've found several maps within the game. They've obvisouly made them spawn more frequently because I had not found a single map in the previous two months of playing. Anyway, if you're not a purist and don't mind "cheating" you can always use the dayzdb.com map.

I have found loads of maps in cars/front hallways of houses and on chairs since patch.  I don't use them though as I prefer the maps app I have on my phone.

What? How does this thread have ANYTHING to do with me not being a hero? I'm not a bandit, I don't kill anyone i see unless they are a threat to me. I help fresh spawns and others , I even offer to escort them.

what i mean is that you claim to be a "hero" but you dotn even understand the game yourself yet, or you woulnt be making this topic. explore the game, get to know it, then worry about being a "hero" to other players

edit, i find the self proclaimed hero status to be a bit stupid, and reading yoru post sayign "im a hero, can you please tell me how to get military gear" just made me laugh.

im, not trying to attack you or be offensive either, its just funny
