Faster way to get military geared up?

Recommended Posts

So basically I'm a hero, When I spawn at solnichniy or factory I just head south for over 1 hour to belota to get geared and then 1 hour back to solnichniy to meet up with my team. Now i've been killed or reset some how many times by bandits and server issues. Overall I've ran to belota over 12 times, so yes I've spent over 24 hours just running. Is there a faster way to get gear from solnichniy or berinzo (the spawns)? I hate running so much specially without vehicals.

I gear up in about 20 minutes if I am lucky and the town I am in has not been looted.  I used to be all about this military gear, full blown G.I. Joe..but I would spend so much time doing that, I was missing out on the game itself.

I now just need a rifle (blaze is my preference) and some ammo, and I am ready to play the game. I have learned that you do not need all of the "end game" items, I guess you could say. I do not even wear any type of helmet. Just a cowboy hat, my rifle, and my wits.  After I get those, everything else is just a wonderful experience, with some cool ones while looking for those items as well.

Where do you get your mosin or sks? The police stations? I havn't had much luck there anymore. I HATE and emphasize HATE this new update that came out, its night time all THE TIME now and zombies are much faster even though they were supposed to be slower. and I think camo makes all the difference though.

Yea, I am not a fan of it either, played for maybe 1 hour since it came out...They are aware of the Zombie problems, and I do not think they are going to change the Day/Night cycles, nor the spawn timers anytime soon.

Back to your question... First off I do not get Mosin's or SKS's, Blaze Rifle is where it is at, but I will use one of those until I find a Blaze 95.  Police Stations,  Schools, and Piano Houses, and maybe even more places spawn Mosin's and SKS's.

So basically I'm a hero, When I spawn at solnichniy or factory I just head...

Go West to the NWAF.. then head South looting all the military bases and Zelenogorsk before you hit Balota.

You are now done looting and fully geared. Find something to do.

I find my Mosin/SKS in:

Schools

Corner Two-story Pubs

Police Dept.

Tech Buildings

Piano Buildings

The Two-story Buildings w/ Blue-metal shutter on the front

Long Barns

Rifty

Also if your going after Military gear to blend/camo in, just go with a blend of Green/Olive/Brown toned gear, or if you/your squad play mostly in Urban settings, go with Grey/Black/Blue toned gear.

Stop caring about gear is the best solution: get an SKS or Mosin, get a few rounds of ammo, should be easy enough to find that around town and then PLAY THE GAME, if you survive long enough, you'll get nicer gear as you go along anyway, there's no reason to turn DayZ into a mad dash for "full gear".

1. Find something that goes bang or makes a 'thunk' sound when it strikes a solid object.

2. Go to Berezino police station area.

3. Wait. Full military gear will approach you shortly.

For me, milgear =/= best gear

Every milgear has a civilia counterpart to it.

Also, milgear often refers to being a bandit xD

But yeah, yeah, grab your fancy-pancy.mil-gear. Imma shoot you like bandit.

xD

Step 1. Find military cosplayer

Step 2. Punch head

Step 3. ???

Step 4. Laugh at him for good measure

Step 5. Take gear

Step 6. You just saved countless newspawns by disarming a military cosplayer!

Not from Solnichniy if you count his described round trip vs. my single trip.. trust me.

I have well over 1,000 hours playing this map, Chernarus. The OP trip would be around 25km, and my route is under 20km. If you include making it back to Sol. then my route is approx. 32km and he would be fully geared so that extra 30-60 mins would be worth it I would presume

why the rush? drift from place to place, amking use of what you can. let your game evovle on its own accord instead of trying to min-max your way up the precieved ladder (which doesnt exist btw. A freshie who stubmeled upon a Blaze or SKS will cut you down as quick as some elite military gun junky if he gets the drop on you!

I usually go for roadtrip to NW Airfield with my friends to get dem lootz :) BTW it is funny how nowadays people think that NW is full weetod funland where they can sprint anywhere. I never go anywhere in DayZ without being ready for firefight so I have seen many people in NWAF going all over the place and thinking that nobody goes there. So my tip of the day is to be careful at NWAF and it gets worst if you are at low populated server, because of serverhopping.

The military bases above kamenka then zelenogorsk and the radio tower above it give a lot of loot and are often untouched. If you are up for the risk there is yet another mil base south East of NWAF. My N1 loot route.

The thing with the NW airfield is I always get lost going there, I'm a guy who likes to follow the road lol. I wish there was a video tutorial showing a way to get there. I get to olsha then I get lost lol

Yah because that doesn't get boring after the second or 3rd time.

Lets face it, once one has a gun and ammo, the threat factor of this game from PvE becomes pretty damn nil.

People act like there's so much to do in this game and it has some kind of serious learning curve, there isnt.

mhhh millgear.

I tend to do it like this:

Spawn fresh:  craft rags, find water, find food. ( dont get discouraged by open buildings, People are terrible at looting )

Grab everything that might be usefull in the future like the burlap-sack, rope, sticks, ect.  Maybe M4 mags if they lay around. hacksaw for if i find a shotty. also fnx mags and all kinds of speedloaders.

As for clothing i dont have a Preference at start. Anything that holds alot of items is fine. I tend to downgrade to civilian clothing on the way later.

I allways try to get as many protector cases as i can. I place the fnx in them because that thing breaks faster than legs after a 1m "fall".

Idealy i end up with the hunting backpack ( lately prefer the crafted backpack but just for the feel from having something i made myself. )

Again, people dont need to go to balota straight away, most disregard the huge amouth of firearms and gear one can find above cherno inbetween the huge housing appartments. ( PLUS balota is only a Stones throw away if you really Need to visit that place. )

but...fastest way to gear up is to kill someone geared.

+10 - Exactly my thinking now as well. I actually stay away from all that military gear. I do however like a Mosin/LRS combo and so Balota visit is usually on the card, not had to do it that often anyway but it does take about 2h - way and back.

Gear wise, like the post above, its mostly civilian (black if possible) and improvised backpack - holds just enough for my needs. An assault vest might complete the lot if possible too for added protection.

I usually stick with an SKS on irons till I find a LRS now, I almost never go to airfields though and when I do, it's to camp an ATC and kill server hoppers on a low population server.

Instead I prefer to get my LRS from someones corpse, even better it saves me finding a mosin, bipod and compensator. It's really not hard to catch snipers when they behave so predictably, which most of them in dayZ do.

I know this is an honest question, but I also honestly think that you should never easily be able to have all the gear you want, at least not easily. DayZ isn't supposed to be an easy game, getting all of the stuff you want in a lifetime should be something you have to work for, not just a mad dash to Balota/NWAF/Loot-Spot-Of-Choice and then you're done.

But to answer, I find that police stations are consistently spawning SKS rifles as well as pistols, for whatever reason (I've never had this much luck with them.)

Staroye is a pretty good location to head for, it's got quite a few useful spots and is almost always untouched.

Yah but knowledge is power.

Once you know where things are in this game, including military bases, then why would you not go and loot them?

Some people like leveling, others enjoy the endgame.
