Etherious 907 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) Chris Torchia, has just tweeted new pictures of a better textured M1911. Quite frankly....I am liking it! :DTwitter Link: https://twitter.com/ctorchia/status/459754856404639744/photo/1 Edited April 25, 2014 by DJ SGTHornet
Katana67 2907 Posted April 25, 2014 I like that it looks roughed up and used. I want to see more of that. Not RUINED like most apocalyptic games seem to think, with Scotch tape and popsicle sticks holding the barrel on... but just, not brand spankin' new.

cuwe 66 Posted April 25, 2014 Agreed.. the more the guns can look "used" the better. not gonna walk into a building and find a NIB gun sitting on the floor. It musta been used and dropped there by the poor unfortunate sucker who couldn't aim well enough and is now being digested somewhere ;)
gibonez 3633 Posted April 25, 2014 That looks really good. Quite fond of the regular most common look of the m1911.

Etherious 907 Posted April 25, 2014 I like itLooks well used but not broken to shittakes a lot to break a gun that's why I always wondered why guns look like crap in some games/movies.Maybe some noob was using them. xD

Etherious 907 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) dayz dual wield confirmed..??!Yes, secretly confirmed man. You can even shoot them sideways like the old .50 cent shooter back in the early 2000s. (Shhh...but that was fake and sarcastic.) xD Edited April 25, 2014 by DJ SGTHornet
amiasfree 262 Posted April 25, 2014 Or Fallout Whats wrong with that? Its supposed to be like over 200 years old or something right?
Etherious 907 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) Whats wrong with that? Its supposed to be like over 200 years old or something right?I'm not too sure, but I think that the Hunting Rifles in Fallout are actually built from gun smiths within the 2200 era. Edit: There is not enough given info but there were Hunting Rifles in the first 100 yrs after the nukes fell, so Amias you correct. ;) Edited April 25, 2014 by DJ SGTHornet

Katana67 2907 Posted April 25, 2014 Whats wrong with that? Its supposed to be like over 200 years old or something right? Merely suggesting that I don't like an aesthetic, the reasoning behind it doesn't necessarily matter to me. I just don't like weapons looking beat to shit. eskamick 20 Posted April 26, 2014 I wonder if they could get someone who actually knows how to fire a handgun to re model that grip...I think a weaver grip is weaksauce but I'll take that over that cup and saucer crap.

Now that you mention it a cool immersion element could be if they animated different style of grips. Weaver, the in game saucer grip, the corny tucked head turtle grip then when you spawn you are assigned a random one with each life. Same could apply to rifles. This way when you see other players it adds a bit of randomness not everyone has the exact same grip and poses. This would ofcourse not affect the shooting in any way. hells high 676 Posted April 26, 2014 (edited) What does having gun firing experience have to do with gun models? *facepalm* They mis-spoke when saying "re-model" instead of "re-animate", by grip they mean how the character is holding the pistol. Texture looks nice, so glad it isn't covered in rust and broken down but still has some wear and character to it. Edited April 26, 2014 by Hells High

Well, I have never shot a M1911 before so I would not know anything about how they should "correct" it's animations.

eskamick 20 Posted April 26, 2014 I've never "animated" anything in a video game so I used the best terms I could think of. My lack of knowledge in that department is probably equal too their lack of firearms knowledge :D P.S. That article is incorrect and a perfect example of how the internets just gets it wrong most of the time.

I had advocated for this a while back, when they first were going to have purposefully included "civilian" weapon stances to make our character look less competent. Bad Good DayZ looks like picture one. I can already here the cries... "it's probably intentional, we are supposed to be untrained survivors" (roll eyes). Also all the handguns appear to use the same skeleton animation right now.
