Bolota scouting

Recommended Posts

In the past I have avoided Bolota because I play lone wolf most of the time. As such I have little experience at operating safely in that area.

My question is this, can anyone recommend a decent entry pattern/overwatch position to get an idea of what I am headed into? So far I have not found an insertion method that leaves me feeling comfortable. Maybe there aren't any truly safe methods but I thought I would try asking.

I appreciate any feedback!

Dunno about you, but I've never died in Balota. I usually went with a buddy and looked at all of the buildings.

I guess I am just asking if anyone has found a good spot to view the area from.

I don't have a buddy. :(

Balota is a tough spot tactically.. the only reasonable entry point is beachside, but this leaves you highly exposed to anyone who happens to be traveling along the water on the coast. This does however give you enough cover and distance to not be seen by Apartment Building snipers and those waiting in ambush at the airfield.

Approach from the beach, head directly into the tent area using the trees as cover from the airfield and large buildings in the distance. Clear the tent area, move along the wall staying in cover, clear barracks carefully keeping snipers in mind, then clear the jail, ATC, North Forests and finally check the Apartment Rooftops and upper floors. If you can do all of that before a server restart and without dying you will feel totally drained from the adrenaline rush you ride the entire time. I highly recommend it :)

id say you can enjoy the challenge of working it out for youself fuerri, its good to have to think about movement and cover, studying an area, as you will improve your own knowledge and experience, wether you make mistakes or not.

balota can be a tough area though yeah,

I'll have to try that. I was trying to insert from the opposite side behind the hangars and jail. I felt completely vulnerable and ended up not moving forward on that. I'll give your method a try. I am doing this on experimental so it's a completely full server at all times so I am being extra careful.

thanks!

This one time when I was playing the dayz mod and had 3 satchel charges,I was in a modded server that had 2 barracks in blota as well.

Any ways I put these chages down in the tower and the 2 barrkes and if anyone tryed to stop me as I looted I would blow the entire base.

Well this one smart ass walked up to me and said to get down and drop my gun,he took my gun and told me to run down the run way and at the count of 5 he would shoot me.

I ran away as he stood between the 2 barrkacks as he counted 4 over his shitty mic I blew the charges.

He was sent flying as the entire bace exploded.(I was just out of the range).

He took my gun,I took his life.

Who needs to scout when u got bombs?

Just watch out for snipers up the hills behind the ATC, along the tree line between the runway and concrete wall, and the odd times you'll hear bullets land with no audible source. In this case, they're more than likely shooting at you from the rooftops of the apartments in Chapaevsk (the really tall buildings north of the airstrip).

Epic Meatpie!.. Those satchel charges were so much fun.

We used to clear out hoarder camps that had between 20-50 vehicles/tents all over the map with them. But one time I was on and recognized a clan that had a tendency to land near the NWAF in the same spot with their heli.. So shortly after a restart I placed my lone satchel in their landing spot and trekked off to get in some firefights at the NWAF. About 1 hour into our battles, we hear a heli fly by and its fairly obvious the aforementioned clan read about the action in sidechat and decided to come on up for some fun. I start sprinting towards the heli landing area because I had no idea what range the satchel charge has for detonation.. Im running, they're landing.. I hear the blades start to wind down so I take the chance Im close enough.. I click "detonate satchel charge" and BOOM! 5 deaths show up on the sidechat.. the loot was like 20 heli crashes combined.. it was insane. We left a ton behind after loading up our Ural and SUV.

We laughed about that one for a long time. :P

I'd look for sniper positions first, starting from the hill up north that has a clear view on most of structures on the west part of airfield. If you start approaching from the beach without looking there, you'll be at mercy of a sniper. Have a look at the treeline south of airstrip as well, they can overview everything but barracks from there.

Ontop of the Commie blocks north east of balota if you have a LRS or Binoculars.

It's also a good place to hunt snipers for a LRS of your own, if you're looking for one.

are the binoculars working? I couldn't seem to get them to work. I do have a set. No long range scope yet.

Hit "B" I believe.. check your control settings for the button its mapped to.

Equip Bino. Raise Bino. Tap "B"..

Ive never used them in SA.. but this is my guess based off of the mods and just general guessing in general. ;)

They're kinda buggy. You need to drag them into your hands or hotkey it and press M2. The animation isn't very good and you have to stand up to use them.

Depends on my gear.  If I have anything with a decent scope/zoom, I will approach from the west, in the fields.  I keep an eye on sniper hill, and if that's clear, I approach.  Sniper hill is tricky though, because everyone knows about it.  There are anti-sniper hill snipers, and anti-anti-sniper hill snipers.

But honestly, last time I ran through Balota on a server with 3 people online (including me), I just saw "YOU ARE DEAD" all of a sudden without hearing a single shot.  Eff Balota. Loot the tents as fast as you can on an empty server and bail.

Move along side tents.

tent to tent, take your time. don't sprint around look through the little tent windows before moving to the next. if a Zed has his back turned to you. Leave him there so he gives away anyone else who stumbles past him.

If you have to run from someone.. head for the covered low bunker (not hte one with a ladder) towards the east side of the tents... have killed prob 6-8 bandits in there they just come running in and you can hide in the inside corner.

Are the binoculars only on experimental? I've been playing on stable every day and I haven't found a pair...

They were experimental only, but Rocket is rolling out .44 to stable soon.

Yep, I know that now. Thanks for replying, though ;). I hope they can fix their bugs in a hotfix (The binocular's bugs) soon.
