Large mall needs to be added!

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about how cool it would be to have a large size mall in the map somewhere. I'd like to see it implemented because it would bring a great loot and pvp location.

Setting is a rural post-Warsaw Pact country, not California.

Not only that...placing a mall in that kind of region would be a bad decision on the investment/financial side, f.e. would anyone build a mall in the outback or more like in the outskirts or center of Sydney?? They are "strategically" placed even in America, they don't just go "this is a good place since there is no mall in the area yet and those 10 people and 2000 cows living 50 miles around here could need one". If there was a city like 10 times as large as Elektro it would be resonable because then it would be frequented more often.

The division. I will probably play that game way over DayZ because it's in a huge town. Everything will look better, and play better, not to mention. I like DayZ, but it's going to get stomped

You guys are a bunch of tree huggers. Look at cherno apartments, that's a city that could house 400k people np, that to me is enough to have one mall. Guys let's count the amount of apartment buildings in cherno alone. Your argument simply doesn't fit the reality of what's currently in game. I live in a city with 200k people and we have a mall.

Malls are more of an American/Western thing anyways. I mean, culturally. We have big stores and malls while other countries still have their smaller towns and markets. Although I do agree that a large market would be great, especially in Chernogorsk. For a capital city, I'd like Cherno to be heavily expanded.

I'm really looking for an indoor combat style building to raid. Currently ingame there are no buildings that are good for that. A mall with big hall ways high ceilings back coradoors would be wicked.

Agree with Ryan, although it wouldn't be a mall but rather a slightly bigger version of red star shops. It could have more sectioned off areas, a clothing store, food court, maybe even a hardware shop, place to find axes, nails, hammers, etc. Not realistic finding hammers in army barracks or kitchens. In real life, if you wanted to find a certain item, you wouldn't look randomly, even in an apocalypse if you needed an axe you would loot a hardware store or a shed in backyard, not a kitchen or a police station.

It isn't the capital city

It's based on real life, so here is what is there "in real life".

HOWEVER

in real life the whole region also has more buildings, more apartments, more roads, more infrastructure, more population. Not just a bit more, exponentially more.

Huge mall complexes don't belong on the map, don't care if they were in "Dawn of the Dead". Grocery stores and supermarkets are fine.

I thought it was. Or at least in Arma 2.

Its the 'capital' of South Zagoria, which is the region of Chernarus in which DayZ is set.

So it was the capital of something, I guess. Either way it deserves to be bigger.

A mall hmmmm no.. It just doesn't fit in.

A big market would be pretty much possible to make. Such markets are very common in Russia:

I want a sort of shopping centre mixed with this.

There could be some permanent shops, eateries and also market stalls.

Permanent shops could include hunting and fishing stores, maybe a bookshop?

Stalls could be a real mix food, junk, pirated movies.

I think it would be an interesting place, stick it somewhere central like Stary Sobor or maybe in one of the new towns.

Make a couple markets, but make them relatively unique to those 2/3 places with different shops and a few shops appearing elsewhere but still on the very light side.

We don't need them to be stuck all over the place like police stations.

Edit: also farm supply stores, for all the farmland there ain't a single place for a farmer to drive so they can get a couple bags of fertiliser or some seeds.

What about large dark halled hospitals, crawling with infected, but all the health goodies are there

Okay, so the Devs add a huge multi-level mall with escalators, infected hordes and mayb even a Jamba Juice stall.

Now imagine what would happen if even 10 players were inside at the same time - desync and lag spike Hell.

It would be a slideshow for anyone without a high-end computer.

Still want a mall?

Quick pull your head out of your ass, every argument is nu&void, I have a great computer and I play on locally hosted servers so the lag isn't bad. Being in a large building with lots of people doesn't do much. Desync come into play when you have 4 players in a vehicle going full speed down the road. Also desync isn't stopping the devs from adding cars so what's your point? Edited by xRyan99

Yes...they always have stacks of Saigas, M4s and AKs in the shelves...some crossbows would be nice. They don't usually display firearms in the open like overseas and they are not takeout either.

I must be the only one who doesn't notice a difference between woods and cities. And I don't even have an uber pimped computer.

I run AMD, DayZ seems to hate AMD.

I've seen people with problems with their AMDs and Arma 3, so I think it's an engine problem.

I have a GeForce something on what pretty much is a work computer, and I can run DayZ and Arma comfortably (30-40FPS when mildly busy) on high. Oh well. Maybe it's optimized better.

Anyways, we should probably /OT.

Where I live there is usually a long gun rack behind the counter, usually with just shotguns and rifles.

I would imagine in the events of a zombie apocalypse most of the guns would be taken from these places, but I think it should be an alright place to find pistol mags, loose ammo and boxes.

They should also have a few gun attachments there, but I think any more than 1/2 guns there is too many.
