Cigarettes ?

Recommended Posts

I think it would be really bad ass if the devs could add cigarettes to this game, i immediately think of metal gear solid snake eater with snake, you were able to increase your accuracy by smoking a cigarette (calming you down) and i think it would be a really cool addition to dayz. Now i dont think it should give you any bonuses or anything as that will not fit into the theme of this game but it would be a really cool cosmetic item to add to the game.

Imagine you meet a fresh spawn on the coast and you have a cigarette in your mouth and he asks 'dude could i have one of those so you give him one and start chatting, one thing leads to another and you end up in bed... you get the drift.  :D

Or you break an arm and if you smoke a cigarette when you hold your breath it will help with your aim a little, the list goes on with possibilities but i think this is something that should really be considered at some point, what do you guys think ???

Should be at the bottom of list, but would be cool lol. Even the paper the tobacco is in for flammable material for fires or something.

That does not mean it should be added or does anything for the game.

Aids is real thus it should be in dayz cause you know its real.

No accuracy perks, that is silly... just cosmetics and atmosphere thank you very much.

No need to get hostile, i know where you are coming from but i think what was trying to say is that as this is meant to be a simulation and lots of people smoke in real life it would not be against what the game is going for.

Not being hostile at all.

I am just saying that just because something exists in real life does not mean it would be a good contribution to the game.

Cigarettes might be useful if they are incorporated into the crafting somehow.

I am sure they can be used as a makeshift detonation device for some explosives detonating when the cigarette burns out.

That's a rather strong example to make, but you do have a point. But, still, I think it would be kinda of interesting to see it. It WOULD be realistic, as they would exist and probably be a lower priority (though still a priority for many), and would therefore be fairly likely to be found. Not really sure what (if any) benefit you'd obtain from using them, but the interaction alone would be kinda neat. Of course, I agree that it would (and should) probably take a lower priority in development, but still an interesting idea.

That would also be pretty epic. Not gonna lie.

That isn't how nicotine works, at least with someone who isn't addicted to it.

Nicotine calms Snake down because he is addicted to it, thusly, he needs a "fix" unless he goes into withdrawals. If he didn't smoke, he would get more and more jittery. Take a look at any cigarette addict in real life. If refused a smoke for an appreciable length of time, they get jittery as a motherfucker.

Nicotine and Caffiene have ROUGHLY the same effects on the human body, both being stimulants. A stimulant will not "calm you down", but perk you up, which is why it is a bad idea to mix a stimulant and a deppressant, like coffee and alcohol, or energy drinks and alcohol.

PSA ALERT Bad idea, you could die if you do this too much.

Dude this is a game, everything you said made no sense at all, all i said in my post was that smoking clamed snake down and it does, not only smokers but non smokers.

Read it and weep.

Hm. Not what I would have expected at all. Props for the actual peer-reviewed source, which is the only source that counts in the science world

Thanks dude, bit of a lucky find if i am honest. I know what you were saying anyway but i think the cigs will only be cosmetic anyway.

I was thinking this the other day, I'd like to see them added as well down the line.

Hell they can even make you cough for all I care.
