I enter a server that, in the title, it says no kill on sight, bandits will be hunted down, and it's hosted by heroes, etc. So I'm in Berezino and I'm the only one in Berezino except for one other guy. I happen to come across him. I put my hands in the air because I have no weapon, no gun, nothing at all, I'm no threat to him what-so-ever. I even gave him the chance to rob me because I had my hands up. I had some decent loot as well, a scope for the mosin, a pristine can opener, a hunter backpack, med kit, water purification tablets, canteen, etc etc.He could have robbed me and sent me on my way.

Nope he shot me in the head even though I had my hands up and was no threat to him at all. I love this game's mentality. It's wonderful. At least he had the common courtesy to look at me in the eye when he shot me in the head.

I know this is another one of those rant threads but honestly...What has happened to this game? Explain to me why people do this. Instant gratification of the kill? (even though I was no threat to him at all) I just don't understand. Please enlighten me.

OK I will explain it to you

 

When a new player finds a gun for the first time, finds ammo for it. He feels himself much safer. He still doesn't know how easy it to get shot by someone. Now he has that gun and he wants to test it, shoot around, but zombies are not the most interesting targets. So now he sees you and now the whole magic happens. A player doesn't have to be a newbie for following to happen:

 

Which factors will decide will there be a shot or not?

 

We can talk about the age and so on but it is not really that of decision, we can talk about your situation thou. We don't know the age of the player who killed you, so we can't say he was 11y old like somebody wrote here. 

 

Psychology is awesome:

 

You put your hands up. Right in that moment it makes "click" in his head and it literally says "I am no threat to you, I am your toy". Why? Because he was the one with the gun and he had that safe feeling. You wanted to play it out nice and with respect to others but you made a "toy" out of yourself. Now we can talk about the killers whole life, because it will be important to be able to say why he killed you. BUT he could also handcuff you, force feed you something rotten, from own experience I can say for sure - he simply had nothing to play with you - headshot. Now he can take time to loot you properly. If he would rob you, he would have to be cautious because maybe you are not playing alone & you still could've hit him in the head.

 

I can give you a hint: Bandits do go on servers like these to hunt the peaceful survivors. It's not even about the loot, it's only about killing and making you rage. When I kill somebody I don't even go to his body because I know I simply don't need anything he has. So looting is not rly why players kill (experienced players), it's just about frags. Me personally would not shoot you in the head on a friendly server but I would not even show myself to you. I'm alive since I don't trust anymore

That sounds like a challenge, not a rule that can be enforced within the server rules.

Here's the thing with that, there is a good chance you will ruin bunch of stuff, and, usually, that means the most useful stuff.

 

I believe also that it is a violation of TOS to put limits like that on your server.  Besides, there is no way anyone paying for an SA server can really control any of that anyway atm.  Can't kick or ban anyone at this point.

Well, yesterday i joined some FR friendly server, and met one guy, then another, and everything was ok,we looted together, separated loot, because idk, i was not a slowpoke(as i meet almost always, "something probably died in the forest", and constantly helped(telling that's Zombie behind, killed that Z, patched him) instead of just standing and do not respod.

Anyway just go on contact and never think about your loot, your life cost nothing in dayz and that's a point.
Just start to talk, take your weapons down if they have ranged. And then....idk it's showtime!
Never tell - do not shoot, i am alone, i have 14123 friends around, surprise motherducker!, i am the being of the hounds etc.

haha garry ... look i only play on first person servers, i duno what youre playing, but i can tell you that you are in for a shock if you expect to stay alive without taking care in this game, especially in busy areas.

i dont know what kind of pc games you played before dayz, but this is one of the, if not the, most difficult pc game available in terms of pvp. if you dont have much experience especially.

 

soem people are experienced at this game, and my repeated advice to you, while not trying to talk down to you at all, is, dont be seen, unless you want to risk dying. moving tacticaly becomes the game, and you will become a much better player with experience. if you keep playing, in time you will learn this by yourself anyway

do what I did and just kill everyone. I'm not happy about it and I feel forced to do it. but if you don't some one else will kill you. and a server that states no KOS is probably gonna have more than any other server. I remember cats posting on here that they go to those server to just ruin folks good time. until private hives come and admins have control just murder every single dayz player you see. I used to play i'll treat others as I would like to be treated or maybe if I'm friendly they'll be friendly to the next guy hahahah bullshit I tell you, I was delusional at best. I've become cold and bitter with the player base and murder is my answer may not be the best but it gets me through my dayz. goodluck OP hopefully you find a good server and can play the way you want without becoming a heartless prick like all the rest.
