Lunach1ck 4 Posted April 18, 2014 I spawned at some port with cranes and a railroad with a small city nearby on a hill. I have no map yet and I'm just entirely lost, please help. I'm trying to find military weapons and gear.
Lunach1ck 4 Posted April 18, 2014 Game lagged me into the water, now I can't get out of the water and my character is swimming super slow.. Help, anyone?
MetapoliC 263 Posted April 18, 2014 You must be in Svetlojarsk. If you go to the west from the coast, you will get to the sunken ship -> Berezino - > Solnechniy -> Kamishivo. Or you simply go north to the airfield. I've spawned in Svetlojarsk yesterday on a hardcore server. You have many buildings which spawn weapons. After searching these houses + apartments I was healthy and I had an SKS with a PU scope + ammo. You will find lots of stuff in that town, if it's not lootet ofcourse
Lunach1ck 4 Posted April 18, 2014 I searched the nearby town and found nothing of use, just a canteen and some food. I have no idea any of these towns or which way is east.. :(

You are sending this poor guy into no-mans land...

I have no idea any of these towns or which way is east.. :(Simply run towards the sun which will always be in SE/S or SW, no matter what time it is you will always end up at the coast / main road and can follow that to a town. I have no idea any of these towns or which way is east.. :(if you are in svetlo you can put the water to your left and follow the coast to the ship at riffy and if you keep going you will end up in berenzino (largish town lots of loot). the water will be to the east and you will be running south. AngelOfDeath (DayZ) 6 Posted April 18, 2014 Just go to dayzdb.com and find a land mark then go from there.
nl 986 Posted April 18, 2014 I'm getting picked apart by zombies trying to figure out where I am, about to give up, I'm beyond lost now. What does it matter where you are? Run along a road, find town, loot for food and drink, weapons and maybe a compass.Make a note of towns' names and we may be able to tell you where you are.
Lunach1ck 4 Posted April 18, 2014 Can't spawn in now, when I spawned in, a zombie was killing me, so I logged out, since my game is super laggy for a few moments when I start the game. Likely going to die, it said I had a broken arm and I'm bleeding.. :(

Rage VG 4033 Posted April 18, 2014 If you don't mind spoiling the whole "Exploration and learning experience" part of it you can use the DayZDB map which will help you identify landmarks, allowing you to check item spawns relative to it. Not recommended as learning it firsthand is part of the fun but that's your choice to make. Same goes for mechanics; the DayZ Wiki should help you understand how the game works but again learning it yourself is part of the fun. Otherwise, knowing your surroundings will come naturally in time so expect to get lost every so often. Just wander around (but don't forget the path you've taken) until you find a place you recognize. Welcome to DayZ.
Gekkonidae 270 Posted April 18, 2014 As someone else mentioned, your best bet is to go to dayzdb.com and look at the map. Once you die a few times you'll start noticing landmarks and become more familiar with where you are. Elle has it right. If the ocean is on your left you should be going south, as the ocean is to the east. If it's to your right, you should be on the coast going north. It takes time, but you'll figure it out. Next thing you know, you'll know exactly where you are as soon as you spawn in about 95% of the time.
sokaku 50 Posted April 18, 2014 Can't spawn in now, when I spawned in, a zombie was killing me, so I logged out, since my game is super laggy for a few moments when I start the game. Likely going to die, it said I had a broken arm and I'm bleeding.. :( Log into a different server, pick one with relatively few players. When you log in the zombies should be gone but there may be more around. If you were bleeding then as soon as you log in, go to your inventory, drag your shirt across to the left side of the inventory, right-click on it and select "tear into rags". Then right click on a rag and select "Use". This will bandage you up to stop bleeding. Until you find a decent weapon like a baseball bat or axe, if you see a zombie just keep running. Soon you will get a feel for how they attack and you can dodge them easily enough while looting, however tear up any shirts or bandanas you come across for rags. Search any large, 2-storey houses you come across, a yellow one with what looks like a glasshouse on the roof is a police station which is a good place to find a gun. Generally you can often find baseball bats and axes in the larger houses. Axe, bat, or hoe are your priority. Once you have one of these the zombies are no issue. Also pick up any knife or screwdriver you spot to open cans. Once you find the ocean you generally want to put it to your back and find a road that is heading inland away from the coast, and follow that road to interior towns which are less likely to have been looted. Have a look for DayZ standalone maps in google and get familiar with some of the locations. When you find a town check the sign against sites like Dayzdb (great map site) which has both English and Russian sign names listed. I recommend heading towards Stary and Vybor which are quite a ways from Svet, but I generally have good luck getting kitted up there. Then you can head north to the NW air base, the tents to the North-West of the air base commonly have tonnes of useful gear. Air bases and such can be found closer to the coast but these tend to be fairly "busy" areas with players.

Next thing you know, you'll know exactly where you are as soon as you spawn in about 95% of the time.haha and about 80% of the time you will be looking for something really high to jump from so you can get your ass back to some place that makes sense :p well ok maybe only 50% of the time. Unless it's a town I was already through on that last life, and I know it was picked clean. Then I do that :)
thelonelyone 103 Posted April 18, 2014 Whatever you do, do not give up. DO NOT GIVE UP. I have a friend who bought DayZ and when he realised that he was lost, he just gave up on the game and ignored all of my tips and advices, and then I realised that he was just looking for military gear and big guns to kill people just like when he played the WarZ.Just... use DayZDB or learn the map by yourself or whatever, but continue playing! Some times you might find yourself with no gear, dying and lost, but that's ok, that's good, you gotta keep trying, don't go in-land to early, stay on the coast. find at least some supplies like a can of food and a bottle of water, get an axe or a wrench, survive. One day you will (If you don't give up), probably, find yourself doing some RP surviving, keeping low and crawling through whole citties with your gun, then, at the end, you climb a hill, sit next to a tree and just look at the view, eating your cans and getting ready for the next adventure. That's what I do. Don't give up, DayZ has SO MUCH to offer. If you need any help or have any questions, just ask here and we will answer. (Also, look out for other survivors, some might be cool, but there are some dicks out there. :D)
