because i am no fan of horror

as in  hate to be surprised and will end up kicking my computer with my knee

you know

things like creepy bgm and those other stuff that makes the game more horror-ish

those of you who played 7 days to die would know what im talking about

yeah....

so tell me rocket isn't planning to turn dayz into a horror game?

Someone needs to eat a manwich. What's a game if you can't injure yourself in rl while playing?

Well, there is also scary PVP, and scary AI. Scary AI would probably be hard to do at this point. Does the fear of losing your life/gear in the game create fear? For some, yes, for others, no. Scary for me would be making it pay to play.

I personally would fully enjoy more horrifically-gruesome content added into the game, something that makes me frightened and left shocked and puzzled when I see/hear it. I mean this is a post-apoc horror/zombie survival game, adding in more blood and guts and freakishly odd noises and sights would only be natural, and I am sure bandits are getting pretty tired of the usual handcuff/burlap sack/force feed rotten fruit ruitine,

Ha ha funny you should mention 7dtd. When i first started playing it, that "sshhhhh" noise, sounds exactly like my 3yo son. I even got up to make sure he wasnt playing a trick on me.

God I hate it when people describe DayZ as a horror game  <_<

It's not horror. There's nothing horror about a military survival/mmo whatever you wanna call it. And I don't wanna act all tough, sure DayZ can be scary (at night), and it obviously make you stand on edge. But it's not horror. Just a big NOPE...

for me at least

Military MMO? That's Arma.

Zombies are pretty synonymous with horror, my friend. Just because the mod never fully realized the dream doesn't mean that's not the goal...

This is why the zeds must be done right. Once you have some decent gear and you have decent zeds that can kill you if you make a mistake trying to sneak passed then the horror will work itself out. When you see a chance of you dying by zeds and you're going to lose your gear the heart rate is going to go up.

Dayz is not military survival, "DayZ is a gritty, authentic, open-world survival horror hybrid-MMO game".This doesnt have anything to do with Arma anymore

"military survival/mmo, or whatever you wanna call it" That's what I said. It means that I don't know where to fit DayZ in a certain genre, hence why I said "whatever you wanna call it".  <_<

Also, I really don't think taking the "horrror-road" would be the best endgame for BI. I think everyone can agree that most people play this for PvP & the survival. NOT for the "horror" (which there is little to non of in DayZ). Besides, if they were to do that it would require a huge re-thinking of the entire game. Everyone with a decent knowledge of horror knows that it's very hard to have horror inside a multiplayer game.

You're entitled to your opinion, I wouldn't call it horror either, but it definitely has elements of horror, in the sense that it creates tension, eerie atmosphere, and contains zombies, a typical horror element.

Yes I'm very aware of that. DayZ has a lot of elements in that could make it into a horror game. But they are presented in such a way that the actal horror of it is completely pushed away.

DayZ's a horror game in the sense of, "...shit was that a gunshot?" The unfortunate truth is that 99% of players would rather log off than find out. >.>

Im that 1% who finds them and yells "IM FRIENDLY BIOTCH" Edited by Murlough

The title of the thread irks me, there is already an inherent 'horror' element in the game, the game couldn't exist in its current format without one, it is a by-product of the gameplay that fundamentally exists in a realistic survival MMO.
