Character Reset Thoughts

Recommended Posts

Purchased DayZ alpha on release day.
Made about a dozen suggestion which some were taken into effect.
Time passes.
Character reset happened.
Complained about it to a friend and was frustrated but nevertheless, it was expected.
*present day*
Spent a whole week gearing up three accounts with lots of valuable items.
Made over two dozen suggestions.
Happy with all this loot and recruited three new members for distribution.
Purchased four more copies for friends and mates.
Died twice on same account.
Purchased another account to gear up and make room for the upcoming patch which brings in cooking and camping stuff.
Reported over thirty bugs
*thinks of the future*
Had a thought of Dean Hall saying *Thank you all for all the valuable and great contributions to our game and now, unfortunately, I will have to hit the character reset button, again*
Pondered why I spent all that money, time gearing so many characters and effort to assist in making it a better game when i'd get screwed over at the end with no incentive, nil, squat to look forward to at all.
Uninstalls DayZ.
Writes a letter of complaint to Dean Hall's parents.
Installs H1Z1.

Why do you own several accounts? Are you doing something fishy?

Game won't mold for your convenience. Go play something else. I'm glad you don't get refunded, because you have been warned not to buy it.

Hmm. I own DayZ since December 18th, and had character reset only on the first week. Then I noticed if I came back to the menu before changing servers, I didn't get these resets. Since then, it never, ever happened to me again.

It's in Alpha stage, so this software is bound to have bugs. But finding workarounds to continue enjoying the experience while still testing it is my thing. Love it.

Character created on January 23rd. Had a misadventure on the Refy shipwreck. Died. Respawned and tried to get back to my body. Body wasn't there so started fresh.

Character still alive to day, after 80 days. Total time played in the Stand Alone : 208 hours

You bought several copies of the game to gear up more than one character? Okay, your money and stuff, you make your own choices.

But complaining about resets? I think these things should happen more often so people would draw their attention from making gearing up as a main goal and started playing the game finally.

Why would you need to buy multiple accounts? You just sound mad that you probably either 1. Did get reset too many times. or 2. You were blatantly cheating and kept getting banned. (Super deserved it)

I don't understand, I haven't got a reset yet, and gear takes me no more than 1 hour on a high pop. I don't see why you are so upset and what reset are you talking about? There was only one as far as I am aware off which was a long time ago.

What is the topic exactly? I think people are right now pretty spot-on since the main theme seems to be whining.
