tatchell (DayZ) 73 Posted April 12, 2014 (edited) Hey guys. Just saw this photo in the news from Ukraine. I really like the look of their gear. Whenever I see photos of their protests I reckon that on DayZ Chernarussians would pretty much have access to all the same stuff, so ideally we should kinda look like these guys...So first off, the guy on the right has an awesome hunting jacket, something we could really do with to go along with those lovely pants. This has probably been mentioned before but the search bar didnt bring up any direct discussion of this. Also the guy on the left has lot's of already in-game clothing minus that pretty nice riot helmet. Not sure if I did read somewhere else on the forum about getting more police and fire service gear? And those riot shields also would be an awesome addition if possible (but probably quite useless). So yeah, anyone else wana see this kind of stuff? Can anyone confirm if this kind of stuff is perhaps on the way? Apologies if all these have been raised before :P Edited April 12, 2014 by tatchell

pillock 850 Posted April 12, 2014 Those shields might be useless against high-powered rifles, but pretty effective in for melee combat. It requires extra animations, and you couldn't use it with a two-handed weapon as effectively. But it'd be great if it's possible. As with many other things, it cries out for a mechanic to penalise movement speed and dexterity of players carrying lots of heavy or awkward-sized gear. Feels like exploiting whenever someone does it. If anything, rolling should be made the loudest movement you can do (considering you're not really disturbing your backpack whilst crouching/standing). But yeah, there need to be a lot more side effects to carrying a shedton of gear.

Wrap my items with rags and they wont make much noise when I roll. Put bandage between those boxes so they don't bang into each other etc.. I agree with you but not if the items are placed well.
Survivor_Ted 269 Posted April 12, 2014 (edited) Wow, that guy on the right looks like a player from DayZ, if you think about it. Respirator, Flatcap, Tactical jacket and he's seemingly holding some sort of rifle/shotgun. ^^ Edited April 12, 2014 by Survivor_Ted

I'd go further - if you've got one of those great big mountain backpacks full of stuff, you can't roll over at all - just lean. Remember if you know how to be stealth you will insolate your items in your backpack so they don't make noise.. Wrap my items with rags and they wont make much noise when I roll. Put bandage between those boxes so they don't bang into each other etc.. I agree with you but not if the items are placed well. That's a great idea - it needs quite a change to the way inventory space works, but it would be a big improvement.
DirtyWings 51 Posted April 12, 2014 The riot shields would also be great melee defence.

JiJi (DayZ) 223 Posted April 12, 2014 @tatchellAbout the picture, you are focusing on these 2 persons. Why not on the 50 else, wearing common clothes?Keeping this camouflage/riot/military Vs civilian clothes loot ratio, and it should be fine.
HomerJay27 69 Posted April 6, 2015 A riot vest like this would be nice too
8bit_Survivor 93 Posted April 6, 2015 I'd like to see some riot gear. I'm sure the cops would've been utilizing it near the end. Imagine blocking a door with your riot shield after the zombies break through. Allowing your friends to barricade the next room or escape!
sgtpotatoes@gmail.com 30 Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) I've been pushing a ticket on the Feedback Tracker for more hunting clothes for a little while now. (0019761, shameless plug. Mostly about how we can stop military loot's monopoly on top-tier gear.) We could really use some civilian camouflage. star-lord252 83 Posted April 7, 2015 Riot gear sounds nice especially since the zombies are a lot tougher now.
