Why do .22 mags spawn exclusively in military loot pools

Recommended Posts

Topic header says it all really, but what's the point of placing .22 (or any civilian weapon, for that matter) magazines inside military bases? Nobody is going to run all the way to Balota or NE/NW airfields just to find a 10 round sportster magazine and there'd be no reason for a military barracks to contain one in the first place.

The current spawn locations mean that not only are these weapons going unused, but also are forcing players using civilian equipment to venture into military locations to make their civilian weapons useful, defeating the purpose of having civilian caliber weapons in the first place.

It would make more sense to spawn the magazines for these weapons in civilian and industrial loot pools, so you'd have a low chance of finding one in houses and barns, places like that.

False, they spawn in other locations.

Have some evidence to back that up? I've never once seen one spawn outside police stations, airfields and military bases, nor has anyone I know.

I think you're mistaken. The weapons certainly spawn in non-military locations, however the magazines seem to only spawn in the military loot pools.

Even so, the mags should be more common.

Have some evidence to back that up?

Hello there

We could ask you the same thing :)

If this is true, it does need addressing IMHO for the reasons above.

During the Alpha do expect the balance and locations of lootspanws to vary wildly whilst they are worked on and tweaked, but kudos tot you for bringing it up.

If you are 100pc certain this is occurring have you thought about entering it into the bugtracker? Thats where it belongs although its of a lower priority.

You could, but you'd be asking me to prove that something doesn't exist, which is impossible and ultimately would boil down to the same argument that atheists and theists have been having for centuries. I could spend weeks and could check every building on every server and that still wouldn't prove conclusively that they NEVER spawned in those locations and anyway, it would far simpler for someone to post a screenshot disproving my claims if they happen to discover a magazine in a civilian loot pool.

The best I could possibly do would be provide testimony to their absence based on my observations, which I have just done and by doing that, I consider my duty as a member of this community complete. I've provided my feedback and hopefully someone will take notice of it and take a look at the loot code and make sure it's functioning correctly, hopefully adding .22 magazines to civilian spawns assuming they find my assertion to be correct, which I have every reason to believe they will.

As for reporting it as a bug, that was my original plan however I wasn't entirely sure that it was a bug, It could simply be that the development team intended these magazines to only spawn in military locations. Obviously, would be unrealistic but if that was the teams plan then the loot pools are functioning as intended and aren't bugged at all. So, I figured it better to suggest that they add magazines for these weapons in civilian pools rather than assume it to be a bug.

Edit: I Just remembered that the Amphibia S magazines also spawn in fire stations, however I tend to think of those as low end military loot spawns, similar to the police stations. I've never seen them spawn in factories, barns, houses, shops or anywhere you'd expect to find civilian caliber firearms or magazines, which is strange because it's not uncommon to find shotgun, magnum and blaze95 snap/speed loaders in civilian houses, or boxes of .22 ammo for that matter. Ideally I'd like to see the 10 round sporter and Amphibia magazines spawning in higher value civilian houses, the type that often spawn ammo already such as the piano house.

They should add regular non-suppressed ruger .22s, and make the mags super common.

What I did not realise is that you questioned Magazines (10Rnd or 30 Rnd) and not rounds, so I stand corrected at this time as I have not found either in residential loot spawns

Loose rounds are common.

Svetlojarsk.

In pub .22 box

Garage/shed type building .22 box

Piano house .22 rounds.

My excuses.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

So, is the general consensus that this is a bug or a design choice? I'm quite happy to report this as a bug, if that's what you guys believe it to be.

It would appear to be a design choice.
I will get Accolyte to take a look.

Much obliged.

Edit: I'd like to suggest adding the 10 round sporter magazine to the same locations as the shotgun and blaze snap loaders and the Amphibia S magazine to the same locations as the 357 magnum speed loader.

I don't think anyone would complain about that.

I suppose this would make sense. I'll bug the right people about this and we'll see what happens.

Thanks for letting me know Boneman  ;)

Will use the sporter every day and think of you fondly if this happens.

As it is I only find mags when I already have a decked out mosin/sks/M4 and never get to use the little monster gun.
