Hmm, I don't know. People seem to think that these guns would be plentiful. I doubt there'd be many of these currently in russia in a WORKING condition

Do you have a power press and the molds to manufacture those parts? If yes go ahead and drop some for me too while you're at it.

 

I doubt there are still many around like a lot of older guns. Many should be scrapped by now, what you find are left overs and weapons stashed away in some depots.

There are easier "zip" guns one could make from scraps, so the idea has merit, but not an actual Liberator.

 

FYI DO NOT post any links or schematics here on how to make zip guns :)

It would be cool, but only about 1000000 were made. Theres a company making copies, but they sell for 300 dollars. Id rather buy a Ruger .308

No, it doesnt. The barrel is so short, the cartridge doesnt have enough room to burn all the powder to push it to maximun potential. 25 feet would be a sniper shot. Point blank range is the purpose the gun was built on.

These things have the structural integrity of an oil can and they were probably melted down to make them after the war.

Think of the setting as a "what if" scenario...they are not your undead zeds but people infected with a rabies type virus so it's quite plausible unlike other things they thought up for DayZ.

Nope. The barrel is 4 inches long, smoothbore, and at 0.450 inches diameter, the bore is not oversized. It will travel many hundreds of feet. Hundreds of yards in fact.

Somehow I don't think this would  be common... at all. There must be what like a few hundred at most left in working condition in the world.

Why does everyone think these small low powered guns are more common then "military" guns? I know more people with "military" handguns and marksman rifles then ones that own an Amphibia S (I know no one with that gun). Hell I even know people that own .50 cal anti material rifles.

That's not a very good excuse for them to break it. While the liberator would be interesting gameplay wise, it makes no sense.

These guns are complete and utter shit, and were designed that way. After 50 rounds they LITERALLY fell apart. They have no finish as they were MADE to rust away after a decade. Any that are still around aren't functional or only able to fire a few rounds before breaking at most.

Oh and, there isn't even any evidence of them being dropped to my knowledge. Most were sunk into the Ocean after the war.

 

And to those arguing about how this world isn't real - It's supposed to be a realistic world hit by an apocalypse, not a Fallout/HL type random guns everywhere becuase they are coolz type.

 

Also - why?

It takes around eight .45's to drop a guy - do you think a guy is going to let you stand infront of him and spend two minutes shooting at him from 5m? And yeah - it would take five minutes becuase of the reloading mechanism, which needed the operator to use a stick to push out the spent round and often to secure a new one. This is mainly becuase they're purpose was to be fired once and thrown away.

Mosins maybe, but not guns that have absolutely no use except as museum pieces. 

 

Your better off with your fists, or making your own gun.

Pliers + Hammer + Bullet= Slightly better than a liberator pistol.

 

The Liberator pistols were meant to be dropped to the French, so they pocket it, sneak up behind a German, shoot him in the back at close range (I would assume they don't have a knife), and take his gun, then shoot more Germans with that gun.  I thought they actually did drop them in France, but looks like others have done more research than I on the subject.

 

The well armed already kill the unarmed in this game enough simply because 'he could punch me and knock me out'.  Now 'he could have had a pistol on him' comes into play.
