[Question] M4 and ACOG

Recommended Posts

Quick question here, is the ACOG bugged or something? Switched over to an M4 recently. Stationary target on several tests, all parts pristine…and the shot will go up or down and to the right or left. Not just the first shot either, more than one will be way off target. Kind of reminds me how the crosshairs on the LRS were off-center.

I did have the CQB stock whatever its called, not sure if thats the culprit or if its just the ACOG itself.

The cqb stock increases shot dispersion. It increases dexterity but sacrifices long range accuracy. The way to improve the accuracy of an M4 is to equip it with magpul parts (MP handguard and stock)

Also, the acog scope does nothing to affect the accuracy of the weapon system: it merely assists the shooter in target acquisition.

The targets I was refering to were no more than 50 meters away. Sorry, I should have been more clear. Thanks for the reply.

Try to get a different buttstock, the CQB is for up-close only.

Also, hit 'T' to set it the M4 for single-shot.  And maybe hold down the right mouse button to 'focus' for a second or two when you are shooting.

Currently the M4 has enormous bullet spread. As people already stated, at the moment only magpul parts seem to help.....

But with magpul parts it's more than accurate enough. M4 + magpul parts = most accurate weapon in game

Don't forget to add a bipod. I'm pretty sure you don't even have to deploy the bipod, but I'm not 100% on that

With a bipod and ACOG I have made some surprisingly long shots on other players.  I dont remember what stock I had, and I did deploy the bipod.

I second this. M4 + ACOG + bipod + prone = fairly accurate at longer range (200 or more meters)

Even with the dot scopes its accurate

ohh ya and the 'focus' B)

Nope, mosin is still more accurate...  If both have bipods they have near perfect accuracy though.

FYI, last time I tested the m4a1 with MP stuff and crouched I got about 8moa, which is between 3 and 4 times less accurate than a real word mil spec m4a1

CQB will murder your accuracy, in return you can shoulder and aim the weapon slightly faster. I dont think the trade-off is worth it at the moment.

The thing that pisses me off about the M4 is that even it's single shot accuracy is garbage.

At 50 yards, healthy, rested, pristine parts, single firing a round at a zombie should not miss.  Very frustrating.

WIth a CQB. Yes.

You shouldn't miss even with a can of beans for a stock.   Even 200m is spitting distance for a rifle.

The M4 with the proper furniture, no bipod, and any of the sighting options seems to perform close enough to OK that you could just blame it on the wind and call it a day.

Game design/ballance.

Though I agree it is a bit much for a small boost in your ability to shoulder the weapon.

However I wouldnt get to used to how weapons are right now as they are going to most likely be doing a balance pass or two. They will be adding environmental factors to effect bullets like wind ect.

Moving control away from the player via random dispersion is never good for game design/balance...  The best solution is always to move mechanics towards rewarding player skill, not dice rolls.  Sway, wind, and recoil should be the deciding factors if you miss or hit a target...  IMO the CQB stock (wish it was not the crappy Troy Battle Axe) should allow for the weapon to be shouldered slightly faster, while also reducing the period of time it takes to steady your weapon, very modestly reducing recoil, and slightly increasing sway.  In contrast the precision stock (magpul) should be slower to shoulder, and take a little bit longer to steady however sway (steady state as well) should be noticeably less.  Accuracy, in terms of your actual aim point should be identical regardless of attachments though.

I have no issues picking people off up to almost 400m. The bullet spread is fine when the MP parts are equipped.

MP > stock > CQB
