Ok well, Id like Dayz stand alone (to buy it) and I dont know how. Do I need to own Dayz then upgrade it?

No you don't need the ArmA mod to play standalone, you just buy DayZ on steam. http://store.steampowered.com/app/221100/

To buy the standalone you simply need to purchase it from Steam or the Bohemia store.

 

You do not need the mod or anything else.
