Stashing LOOT

Recommended Posts

Are they planning on implementing some sort of way to hide some guns or some of your loot without worrying about losing it? Maybe a player will steal it but that's alright lol. New to the game by the way.

Yes, they call it "persistent items/containers" -  Basically you drop a backpack somewhere and it stays until you or someone else picks it up.

They play to implement it soon™.

I sure hope that you will not be able to hide to much.

That will significantly increase the advantage of  experienced players/clans. It also removes the survival part in which you start with nothing.

Please let them fix infinite zombies and walking through walls zombier before implementing other stuff.

Yeah, and proper hit detection as well.

I will hide my bag in some Kamyshovo bush and keep a pistol without a mag in it and one round so I can hunt fresh spawn slaughterers with the challenge of one round.

Rocket stated that every item will be persistent, he said the guy making items persistent had this idea, pretty sure it was in the rezzed session.

They do really need to make it - if possible - so that gear only persists while the original player still lives (i.e. the specific life when they dropped the item(s)). Otherwise it would be too easy for new spawns to re-gear (going back to known stash points) and there is more likely to be in-game loot 'inflation' where items are generated by spawning but not removed rapidly enough by player deaths.

Persistent storage is one of the main drivers in getting people off the effing coast. So yes, it is inbound.

People tend to focus on the "bad" aspects of persistent storage rather than the good. The bad aspects, like players returning after death to stashes, can be mitigated easily.

But even then, sort of underscores the flaws in the hive/server/private/public system we've got now.

Agreed. I also think it will create a much more consistent environment as people will naturally migrate to a sever 'where their stash' resides. Server hopping minimizes and you have a 'chance' of a community actually forming - alliances, enemies, etc...

That bit yes...

That bit I say no. If you put your stash somewhere its going to last, trust me, it wont be near a spawn point ;)

Many times in the mod I was reasonably geared before I even got anywhere near my campsite. So sometimes I didn't even go back.....till I wanted to stash something. So I still got the whole survival, start with nothing experience every time :)

Not sure I'd go so far as to say server hopping minimizes. As one can very easily maintain a stash on a low-population server and then transfer all those goodies to a high-population/high-significance server.

But yeah, giving people more stuff to do makes all the sense in the world to me.

Well - everyone with a little bit of brain will stash stuff - even IRW scenario.

Watch you will NEVER find those items again. XD

You better pick places you have been to many times before lol.

It will minimize server hopping, once you have your stash... Youll always circle to it... As well as kos, people wouldnt just shoot you on sight, they stalk you till you lead them to your stash... Persistent storage will lessen pvp, it will however start people hoarding items

On the other side you can have some really interesting moments stalking those freshspawns as they run back to their stash.

I think having the stashed items "deleted" if the player who stashed them dies, wouldn't be quite as fun. Think of all the folks who get the chance to stumble over a deceased players camp / stash to grab all the goodies.

Sure, if it's a smart hiding place or whatever, it may be easy to re-gear after having been killed, but as was said before: If the Player isn't a total noob, it'll be quite a way from any spawn point.

I'd love to make a stash and then post about it on the forum and have people go treasure hunting or geo-caching or whatever. While it still take a while to have enough to do to stay busy and not get to bored with the current state of the game, this might stir things up a little.

If all else fails we can shove stashes up our butts like some kind of druggie so when we die we can find out body and take them out. XD

That sounded terrible. Im jk guys. But seriously ppl will do that crap to smuggle drugs out.

What they need to do is make it so each server has it's own loot and you start fresh when you login to keep people from hoping to loot.

Yeah but that would also keep players moving around all the time not just looting cities but looking for players loot aswell

Well, a trap where you actually fall into a hole would be cool. If you don't have a rope or something to help you climb out, you're done for... Sounds almost like fun.

As for instant death traps, not so much.
