Misuse of the term 'Bandit'

Recommended Posts

Whenever I'm playing with my friends, when we get shot at, my friends always call the hostiles 'bandits'.

Why?

They aren't trying to rob us, mug us, or steal from us. They're trying to kill us...

It just comes off as an overused and misused term. I don't think anyone is a bandit for shooting at us, they are only a bandit if they try to rob us instead of killing us first.

Your right, they dont rob or steal, just kill.

Lets just call the 'Killers' even though 'Bandits' is easier to say.

-they kill first and don't ask any questions later.

I agree. Usually bandits try to keep you alive so they can get undamaged loot, then set you free or execute you. I think raiders is a good term for them, leviski. The few people I have robbed with my buddies, we set free with something they need for their trouble (assuming they were cooperative). If somebody is extremely rude though...bandits can still kill or kneecap them lol.

I like the servers which advertise PvE, Friendly, No Bandits, it makes me giggle.  Bandits would be a blessing for them to have, because I am not a bandit, I am a murderer.  I do not want your stuff, I just want to shoot you in the face!! >;)

...and I use to be so good... but I fell in with the wrong crowd....

Are we really trying to classify the types of bandits in this game?

Sorry but i think i'll stick to my "If they shoot at me, they are a mother fu**ing bandit" mentality. I'm not going to sit and ponder

"Oh well maybe they're just scared...or maybe they're trying to rob me and just want to scare me into cover to trap me...or wait...no that makes no sense. Well they aren't trying to rob me, and usually bandits try to rob me..." *DEAD*

Any person with ill intentions is a bandit to me. Trying to make "subcategories" of the do-badders in this game is futile, IMO

Murderers kill for sport and probably KOS,any loot is just icing on the cake.

Bandit at least interacts with you might rob you, hurt,or kill you. At least they tried to interact even if it was to harm you.

Survivor is neutral generally but may take advantage when presented especially for beans.

Freshspawn is a player who knows how to play but is recently died.

Bambi is a new player to the game.

Hero is a player tries to help others and hunt bandits.

Yeah, I don't see why so many get caught up in the meaning of 'bandit'. I mean, an 'irl' bandit would most likely KoS to rob people anyways.

I always call them marauders... I dont like murders as I tend to think of murder as a personal thing. Marauders try to kill you just because you are there... nothing personal about it.

look at it this way, when someone shoots at you, the question is, was it in a positive, negative, or a neutral way?

positive - did they kill a zombie near you or someone with ill intent towards you = ( hero)

neutral - a warning shot? = (survivor)

negative - at you to kill you? = (bandit)

I made a similar point years ago when the mod got popular. We need a new name for them....

"Cunts" works well too.

Why not just KOS'ers?

People who, upon spotting you, immediatly open fire or engage in an otherwise hostile manner, usually without communication or any other purpose than to kill you.

´´Raider´´ makes it sound (in my opinion) like they atleast kill you to get your stuff, which may be right sometimes, but not always.

´´Bandits´´ in my opinion is an umbrella term for pretty much every ill-doer except for KOS'ers. But ´´Bandits´´ are also used by many for KOS'ers, therefore the confusion (I guess).

I also hate the term 'bambi'.

Also, I am just saying that there are better terms to use then overused ones.
