svenbreakfast 231 Posted March 31, 2014 Chernarus is beautiful. Endless forests, sweeping vistas, vast lush fields, quint villages- all that shit. Back in the mod all it took was that dark ambient score to turn this into an ideal location for a cycling vacation into a sinister if bucolic hellscape. I miss that option for travelling and such. If I was raiding an airfield I could turn it off, but it really added to the bleak atmosphere to log in and hear that score. There must be something to music, because they keep putting it in movies. For me the score always ratcheted up the immersion, rather than detracting from it. It set the vibe, which otherwise is very agricultural. If you're going to take the time to drop mass graves in places, I can't imagine the you have a blind spot when it comes to the entire aural dimension when it comes to setting the stage. Anyway- give us the option to turn on that good old DayZ music. I'm sick of having to have my music player in the background, and not being able to turn it off easily when shit starts going down. Also days survived. It adds intangible qualities to each life, and brings into focus the survival element, which I believe is the charter purpose of the game.
gannon46 788 Posted March 31, 2014 yeah namalask had some creepy as atmospheric music as well added a lot of immersion. both the day survived counter and the music would be bad ass.
thelonelyone 103 Posted March 31, 2014 Talking about Namalsk, I found it's Soundtrack. Namalsk was by far my favourite DayZ Mod map. I would really like to see Music on DayZ SA
AnyoneInCherno? 187 Posted March 31, 2014 The music can sometimes literally make the game. I doubt this would be the case with DayZ, but music would be nice. To be honest, i wouldn't exactly want all creepy music. I'd want it to be melancholy and sad as you walk alone.
thedogfoodyayho 295 Posted April 1, 2014 Music in the mod made it creepy as fuck, especially when you first start.I still remember my first day. Crawing around on the coast in some port, pitch dark, to dark to get off it but to scared to drop my Makarov for a flashlight. I could see a heli flying off the coast with it's light on and a boat moving in the water. The music scaring the shit out of me.Secound day i discovered balota airfield. Through the rain, I could see the Bodies and though they were actaul players who had been killed by Zeds. Then i discovered the Military camp. Just as i ran up, the music pitched and a Zed popped out, and i died after trying to kill it with Chest shots. The dreary music addong to the experience. Then all the weeks after. Looting cherno with crossbows, crawling through the streets, running from a hatchet-wielding maniac, my first AK, my first tent...Now its just to bleak. Spawn. Run. Grab m4. Shoot. Die. The mod had a better Apocalyptic atmosphere to say the least, right down to the bleak Lighting. The SA lacks that.
svenbreakfast 231 Posted April 1, 2014 I remember when I first logged on, and couldn't really put my finger on why shit felt so tense when it was just me and some railroad tracks. Looking back I think the music had a lot to do with that. I just really miss logging in, hearing the sound of the "days survived" ticking out, and then that minimalist ambient would roll in.
