Does Dayz Standalone have the worst zombies in any game ?

Its been stated already the zombies are nowhere near finished and are place holder, why the hell do people buy a game that's not finished and then complain and criticize that its not finished. I'm not sure if I am a fanboy or what as it just seems to get thrown around on these forums, but if fanboy means not an impatient moron who's always posting complete BS on the forums than I guess I am. After a little research I managed to find that a separate team have been hired to work on the zombie and animal ai so its pretty clear to me they plan on sorting the zombies out and its just a case of time.

 

 

4 months and they've only managed to make zombies worse. Right now they're janky, suicidal, super humans with x-ray vision, super speed, ESP, the ability to phase shift through solids and instantly reincarnate while maintaining their memory. Amusingly though, they're still not even remotely a threat.

 

The funniest thing though, is that some people in this playerbase STILL try to defend the current implementation. I guess we just need fanboy hard enough and they'll start working as intended, right?

 

also: I like your signature. I wish more people realized that criticism is both cathartic and outright REQUIRED in an alpha/beta test, Blind acceptance will only make the finished product worse.

 

Yes your right criticism is require but do you honestly think that moaning about obvious problems that the devs are well aware of and are planning on fixing helps anything? Fuck, everybody and there mum knows the zombies atm are completely fucked, there wasnt even going to be any zombies at all in the initial release of alpha but they added place holders.

But it's ok, because we have some new hats.

 

You seem to be under the impression that the people who create the content such as hats and items, are the same people who work on zombie ai and path finding. Seriously the hats are not delaying the zombies from being improved. Its obvious to me that the zombies can be fixed because they are much better in the mod so maybe we just need to be patient.

 

 

It is amazing to me the degree to which people cannot manage their expectations or honestly gauge what weight their opinions should carry.  

 

Worst zombies?  No.

 

Worst community?  Very possibly.  

 

Yep, there's nothing wrong with development or priorities imo but this is by far one of the worst communities full of cry babies and asshats.

Worst zombies?  That's hard to say, especially considering I've not dealt with zombies in their "building" stage in any other game...  However, if I HAD to treat what's in game as a finished never going to change implementation, I'd say they are some of the worst.  Regardless though, the topic is kind of pointless...  Zombies are going to change...  The staff knows that the spawning mechanics atm are stupid, they also know that their AI is painfully lackluster as well.  Give it another 5 months and then come back and ask this question.

This is a really unfair comment... These guys are working their butts off almost every day, many of them even come in to work on the weekends and in their free time...

I was playing earlier for the first time in quite a while and it struck me while playing.

 

I immediately though holy crap this games implementation of zombies is horrendous .

 

Just as I said that one of those pesky respawning zombies spawned about 20 m in front of me and without me moving or the zombie looking in my direction it just charged at me.

 

After dispatching it with my axe the zombies constantly came one after another all of them I was able to see spawn in as if teleported by god himself.

 

One has to ask has any game done zombies worse than Dayz ?

There slightly currently worse than the Infestation zombies. At least on there they were tryng to get the original idea of the Romero zombies right to an extent.

 

With these ones they will probably get better but they HAVE to make this there fucking first priority. Not cosmetics or guns but i understand being how im going to get countered by ppl saying. "There are different departments for every area." Yeah? Well fucking give those zombies more variety artwise than.

I get this, but surely there are different teams working on different aspects of the game.

What I don't understand is why they made insta-spawn zombies with ESP when they already knew about the pathing issues.

There was no need to 'test' that.  They already knew what would happen.

So why bother in the first place?

That's what confuses me.

Someone somewhere said "well, we have this huge pathing issue.  Lets go ahead and speed them up, give them ESP, and make them respawn on top of the players and see what happens."

hmmmmmmm I wonder?!

He IS right. These are the worst zombies in any videogame, and not in the good meaning of it.

 

Finally someone has figured out that variety of zombie clothing and face textures are a mission-critical aspect of this game's functionality and integrity.  No greater priority could possible exist in early development...I just don't see why this is so hard for this community to understand

Survive the exact same thing a person would have to survive from in a SHTF scenario.

 

When the infrastructure that you depend on collapses, without rule of law, without grocery stores stocking fresh food and water. The environment itself is what you must survive.

 

Imagine having to survive the environment, scavenge for food, build shelter or a more permanent home using your environment, having to fight off wild animals and at the same time hunt to sustain yourself.

 

At the same time imagine having to do this with the constant threat of players who may or may not be friendly.

 

The zombie mechanic was merely a gimmick that was added for the mod . It does not have to stay especially with how Dayz is transforming.

 

I think if Rocket could do it all over again he would have removed zombies all together and instead focused more on the survival aspects of the game making the environment the constant threat.

 

Not the gimmick of zombies.

@OP The title and slant of you post are flawed and give/make the assumption that the Zeds are the final product.

 

That's just not fair.

 

You may as well say that the vehicles are the worst in a game as they are completely unuseable.

 

If you at least qualified your post with the fact that the Zeds are just placeholders and stated that you were judging them on that prospect alone then that would be fine.

 

Or even if you were blissfully unaware that the zeds were being overhauled then we could just assume ignorance of the situation.

 

Feedback, constructive critique and questioning are all wanted. This, to me, feels like a rant and flamebaiting.

 

Now *if* these were the final Zeds then they would indeed be among the worst.

 

But they are not.
