What is "Fully Geared" to you?

Recommended Posts

Fully geared means to me having warm and dry clothes, food, something to drink, preferably a canteen, a can opener, something to pew pew, something to bash, preferably an axe, ammo to wreck gas stations and a nice hat. Oh, and do not forget the press vest. Had my previous pristine one for at least 6 months.

I can't see a bayonet on your Mosin.

That thing is ugly and useless. I wont put it on there until i can stab things with it.

Your argument is valid, but you have to agree that it is not fully kitted then. Unfortunately they removed the bipod.

I mean, I can concede the point. Still though, that thing is just a liability.

I think you are fully geared if your main gear (clothes, weapons, attachments) is at a maximum which means replacing any piece would result in lower performance. So in fact there is not a single "fully geared" but rather a number that consists of combinations of "top tier" items:

Current "top tier" items would be:

  • Smersh Vest+Backpack
  • TTsKO Jacket
  • Gorka Jacket
  • Down Jacket
  • Gas Mask
  • Balaclava
  • Ballistic Helmet
  • Pilot/Tanker Helmet
  • Boonie Hat
  • Wellies
  • Military Boots
  • Hunting Backpack
  • Mountain Backpack
  • Gorka Pants
  • AKM with PSO-1 Scope, Plastic Buttstock, Drum Magazine and either
    • Handguard Rail with Bipod
    • Plastic Handguard
  • Mosin with Longrange Scope and Compensator
  • M4 with ACOG Scope, Suppressor, coupled STANAG Magazine and either
    • Handguard RIS, Buttstock MP and Bipod
    • Handguard MP, Buttstock MP
    • Handguard MP, Buttstock CQB
  • Machete
  • Firefighter Axe
  • Improvised Fishing Rod
  • Farming Hoe

Why the scopes? Because someone thought it was a good idea to give them negative dispersion modifiers.

It's my favorite melee weapon. Takes up no space (attached to mosin), no draw animation and very easy aiming for zombie-face stabbing headshots.

I consider myself 'fully geared' when i have clothing that i wanted, and my preference is still a tan tactical shirt, and beige cargo pants. I find that this combination provides a good level of cover when in the wild or in cities.

Do binoculars still exist?

My essentials for being 'fully geared':

Hunting backpack

A decent primary weapon (M4, Moisin or SKS)

A decent scope

Tan Tactical shirt (or decent camo)

Beige cargo trousers (or decent camo)

At least 50-60 rounds for my weapon (more if an M4)

A decent side weapon with at least 3 clips (preferably an FNX)

A morphine pen

Some painkillers

A few bandages

A canteen (preferably two)

Some tinned food and some rice

Yeah binoculars do exist and are very fine.

I disagree on one point. Smersh vest isn't "top tier" it's "mythical tier"

I normally deem myself fully geared when I can breath a sigh of relief and don't feel I'm frantically missing something. The short list of what I need to feel fully geared is:

  1. Backpack
  2. Something to open cans
  3. Ax (fire or splitting)
  4. Matches
  5. Gun with at least one box of ammo
  6. Jacket with at least 4 slots
  7. Pants with 6 slots
  8. Couple cans of food (after I'm already energized, hydrated, and healthy)
  9. Bandages or rags

At this point I relax a bit because I've got the bare minimum to survive and also minimally defend myself. Anything else is gravy and above and beyond what I consider "fully geared", luxuries even. It's at this level of gear where I feel comfortable going on extended missions to any part of the map to look for said luxuries.

Where's your compass?  Not fully geared until compass, can opener, and canteen.

canteens are useless, drink at a pond/well in almost every town (except like 5), compass is useless unless you dont know the map, and can opener is the only useful thing you listed

Good backpack with axe.

Everything else is a bonus.

Same for me. Everything else is just additional, I'm good at making do.
