What is "Fully Geared" to you?

Recommended Posts

Yeah, this. Carrying food whilst you have a Hungry status makes zero sense and you should eat/drink everything you have. Given the amount of energy you can store, you should be eating food as you find it and only hoarding it if you're already stuffed from a previous find, intend to keep it for someone else or want to eat in a more secure location.

Anyway, back on topic. What I consider "fully geared" is typically a full set of pristine clothing (shoes, cargo pants, shirt/top with many pockets), a vest if I've found one, at least two canteens, at least one weapon with ammo, although two is preferable, and a backpack of some description (usually Taloon, but I'm easy). Basically I consider myself geared when I have the basic equipment to protect myself from people, zombies and the elements, although I'm happy enough ambling about and replacing knackered/shit stuff when I find something better.

EDIT: Also, soda cans give you hunger? Pretty sure that's bollocks. Hunger messages are triggered when your energy level gets low, and Soda gives a bit to hydration and a bit to energy (unless this was changed in recent builds). I've certainly had hunger messages briefly disappear after drinking soda.

I meant it satisfies hunger.

Energized, Hydrated, Healing. Has clothing, an improved improvised backpack, and a weapon.

Soda gives you hunger too, canteens don't. Calories bro.

1 canteen + 1 rice = 4 slots versus your 17 slots. The bro's point still stands.

To me, this is geared. I don't like TTsKO stuff personally. It says "I KoS, please kill me" to me. So I usually run this stuff.

I use the SKS because it's by far my favorite rifle. I don't like the M4 because of how shitty is without attachments. And the Mosin is too precision based.

I had a Magnum but I gave it to a buddy in my crew. Haven't found a sidearm to replace it yet. Not that I really need it.

Again, I'm in Electro on a full pop. I don't think eating is my best choice right now. Maybe I'll jump in a low pop and eat up real quick like a flaming homosexual.

You can probably just eat that there dude.  There's probably no one near that shitty building you're in.

BTW, I think the consensus here is that you eat all that food until you are healthy.  Then drink a bunch of water until you are hydrated.  Get a canteen fill that with water.  Carry around 1 or 2 powdered milks and go look for a god damn compass so you can go somewhere else on the map.

Fully geared for me is simple:

Rags

Fireaxe

Can Opener

The Bible

Anything after that is just frills..

but after that my end game gear is:

Pistol/mag/10-20ammo

Canteen

M4/mag/ammo-MP stock+handguard-ACOG/RDS

Ballistic helmets-1 for head+1 for jacket/vest

Hunter Pack

120 rounds for M4 in 2-60 round mags

clothes that blend in to an extent

I never need:

compass

map

cooking gear (even once its implemented)

hunting gear (I may skin and eat animals, but a simple tree fire like from the mods will do for me)

I consider the following to be fully geared:

Head: Ballistic helmet or Camo Booney hat

Vest: UK Assault vest any camo

Shirt: TTSKO Jacket

Pants: TTSKO Pants

Boots: Military boots / Jungle Boots / Combat boots

Gloves: Any working gloves

Glasses: Designer glasses or Aviators

Mask: None (collides with helmet or hat)

Weapon: Mosin / SKS / M4 with all attachments (except bayonets since they're useless...)

Side weapon: Magnum or M1911 or FNX 45

Backpack: Hunting Backpack

Ample of ammo, food, water, medical supplies (medical supplies including at least 1 morphine, some bandages, epi-pen and a saline bag). Basic tools like compass, can opener.

I'm not crazy over gear though. If need be I'll use whatever I get my hand on. Currently since I died last night I'm running around in a hoodie, cargo pants, and a hard hat, using an SKS and Magnum I looted from guys who tried to kill me.

I  dont really have a definition for being "Fully geared" but right now I do not want anything else so I guess you could consider myself fully geared.

I have a blue flat cap, a blue check shirt, improvised backpack, autumn hunter pants, Sporter .22 with 30rd clip & lots of ammo, Amphibia (lacking a clip) compass (not needed but I like to have for realism) food, canteen, rocket aviators, medkit, morphine, splitting axe, and black gloves.

You're also not fully geared until you have "Energized", "Healthy", and "Hyrdrated" status.  Thens you retty for a fight.

It's dumb to carry so much soda when you can have one canteen instead.  You're wasting inventory space.

You are right OP seems kinda nub, there is no point to carry all those cans on you.

Rule of thumb:

Eat everything you find right away, you stay satiated for longer and it keeps inventory clear for medical supplies and ammo. The pic seems like a bambi move on the OP's part.

Now, I think having a weapon with an optic, a few mags, backpack of some sort, maybe some medical supplies... is fully geared, just in terms of effectiveness... anything else just sees diminishing returns.

In the future, I hope that with item condition, wet/damp conditions, weapon maintenance, a balanced hunger/thirst system, temperature, cooking, hunting, etc. that we'll see a faster turnover of individual loot so that one is constantly having to re-stock their inventory to be "fully geared" all of the time. Rather than now, you just get the loot and you're good pretty much until you die.

Maybe OP is role-playing being a refrigerator?

Full military gear in pristine condition. 2 maxed out ammo cans for your primary and secondary weps. 3/4 of empty space is for primary wep. 25% for handgun. Fireaxe I've used both sks and mosin. I have mosin now. Full attachments. Full attachments for FN my secondary. 2 double tied mags For m4 Or 4 stripper clips for sks. Only one spare pistol mag cuz honestly when are you going to need 4 backups? That's wasting ton of space IMO. 2 canteens, right now I have 3 bags of rice. Rice is best food ATM so I only eat oranges and bananas when running around usually. If I get hungry I munch some rice. Can opener and handcuffs and keys. All of the above in pristine is fully geared to me. If not then you still have some lootin to do. Ooh med kid with Iv start and 1 saline bag for blood if needed. 1 epi pen an 1 morphine for broken leg. Sticks and rags take up more inv than morph. Epi is also better than defib right now.

Fully geared is when you are at the point in your DayZ life in which raiding an airfield would be utterly pointless. The point when, if need be, you had to kill somebody but don't bother checking his gear for you have everything you can possibly want or need. The point where, no matter what you do, everything bears greater risks than any reward.

why the f#ck is everyone looking like a bandit? Don't walk around dressed like that and then complain in the forum about getting KOS!

What constitutes a bandit to you? I looked at a lot of these posts and by my standards, a lot of these people were dressed the exact opposite. KoS happens to New Spawns. Does jeans and a T-Shirt look like a Bandit to you?

Carrying too much gear is pointless. I'm carrying too much and I have a quarter of  what you have.

Mosin+compensator+bipod. Scopes are nice but not required.

Brown Hoodie, Green Cargos, Courier Bag.

Some food/meds/can opener/sewing kit/pistol+3 mags.

Lucky beige baseball cap.

Note to all the people I have killed.

Now this is what i call fully geared. Not some random ttsko crap you get from 20minutes of server hopping.

-Note Pristine press vest & Leather jacket. LRS mosin with enough ammo to never need to look for more. TTSKO pants since they provide the most protection currently ingame. Mosin painted black for silly reason yesterday of wanting to go with color scheme of the riders jacket.  4 Yellow boxes for immense inventory space. A full medkit inside one of them. Blood bags, Morphine,Saline and 6 rags.

-Pristine suppressor for the fnx visible in one of the yellow boxes. Enough food & water to last a week solo in the forest.

I used to pack a fully kitted out M4 But gave it away after the patch with zombies as shooting them is pointless. Cant be arsed to run with 2 main weapons anymore.

I consider myself pretty much fully geared when I have an axe, a gun and a backpack half full of food and ammo, it also helps if I have found a well and am healthy. Anything extra is just fluff and gearing up fully is just a waste of time brought on by OCD.

for me fully geared = basically an axe, and a canteen. I long for the day that survival is fully im plemented, and tents, then i will be jollying myself off to the north rummaging bushes for berries and hunting animals for meats. as mainly i have to solo (most my friends had bad experiences in mod so prob wont even buy this awesome game :'(  ) i have no need for orientation equipment especially maps now you cant use them to set any form of way point for your heads up (nice its realistic, pointless in terms of how rare map has become and how little gain it offers since conversion into standalone) at best a compass to ensure can guarantee direction once in the woods/ fields. i like to wear mainly really stupid combinations of clothing so when i do eventually meet players that seem friendly enough to direct chat a when they see me they dont think hmmm ill kill this guy cos he looks legit bandit, instead they think OMG this guy calls himself ninjah and wears a bright red helmet with a yellow raincoat and a huge lime gree rucksack and canvas 3/4 lengths WHAT A LEGEND.

i like to hide in the trees in mid map and survive off of the land in the mod, untill that day is around in sa i just wander around aimlessly trying to give advice to bambis i meet and showing them how to pick berries, as i feel these things are what is true dayz role play

the day i am fully geared with lots of milly gear and ammo and such is the day after a guy said he was "friendly" right before he got his mate to miss me a fuck tonne with his gun skills and eventually kill me while i try to retaliate with something stupid like a ruined screwdriver in my spawn clothes.... then sir i go bandit style and need all the top tier gear so i feel i helped a bambi when i get shot being an awful bandit (bandits should not solo, it doesnt make sense and no one can watch your back when you need them to
