Hetstaine 10852 Posted March 26, 2014 Did a coastal run with my reg char to see how friendly those little freshies are. Number 1. Didn't want any offered food or drink, insisted on chasing me with her hoe and swiping at me whenever i slowed down to talk. Lead injected. Number 2. Pretended to be friendly then also played the 'attack the geared guy' game. Lead injected. Number 3. Asked for food or water then took a swing at me as i knelt down. His broken legs were most enjoyable. Lead injection followed by painfully slow zed takedown. Number 4. At last, someone who was quite happy to receive some freebies and have a quick chat. Unfortunately just as i was handing him my axe we were both lead injected, my fault for handing out shit in the middle of the road. Number 5. New pawn, this one combat logged when they saw me. Number 6. Fair call, was semi geared by now, m4 with ten rounds and an axe, old mate had a few shots at me with his .22 near Balota, left most of his gear, took his peaches as booty. Those new spawns got some gusto, they must like the beach a lot.

The_Monk 320 Posted March 26, 2014 Tried to initiate "Operation Arm the Peasants" tonight again. Instead the only fresh spawns I bumped into asked me to murder them so they could get elektro spawns.
Hetstaine 10852 Posted March 26, 2014 Yeah i had a couple i met who asked to be killed..unlucky. I left them to find zeds and take the slow way to Elektro.

BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted March 26, 2014 If I was a newspawn and saw you on the coast I would probably try and clobber you as well. Food and drink can be found anywhere, but your backpack, axe and gun would be a nice instant care package to get first thing as a newspawn. And you are not wearing a helmet.

I actually dropped all my crap for a fresh spawn that flipped me off and sat down, waiting to get shot by me (lsr'd mosin, sawed off, pistol with mags, full mil gear etc). Then I proceeded to run around naked in electro until I fell down some stairs in the firehouse and broke my legs. Is it really worth dying over and over in an attempt to knock out a friendly geared char when half the time they would drop decent crap for you anyways?

YOLO - it's a game - human logic tends to get dropped when they double click the exe file. I wish that at least half of the player community were roleplaying the survivor aspect in a believable matter and not just apocalyptic soldiers.

Drunken Knife 17 Posted March 26, 2014 The people that complain about KoS as newspawns attack their killer in 9 of 10 cases. And most of those people actually come back fully geared and kill the freshspawns, because it is their way of playing.I would say one thing i heard a while ago:"Your ingame character isn't just a random character. You give him some sort of live, a background story and so on. There is only one thing you have to accept. If your ingame character's personality changes, you yourself will change too." (Don't understand me wrong. If you are a bandit/murderer ingame, you aren't one in the real world.)

(Don't understand me wrong. If you are a bandit/murderer ingame, you aren't one in the real world.) I literally try everything in Regular. I play as a hero, a bandit, a traveling carepackage who gives away everything until Im left with skivies, a murdering psychopath that kills anything with 2 legs, an even bigger psychopath that will shoot the legs out from under you, and watch you beg for death, but usually an empathetic character that realizes being treated like a shit by a dickhead is terrible, so I usually offer a location and an exchange to my recent victims "Hey, I know I just murdered you for fun, but I will secure this building if you want to meet me here." So I guess what you say is true. I play every way possible, but I usually end up being a softie and trying to help, kinda like those Sour Patch Kids commercial. I know I acted like a sociopath, but I feel feelings, unless I drink to unfeel. I should say "used to" above. Now I just play. I don't care about KoS'ers or dying, so I freely communicate with people and offer trades or free stuff if I have too much. I think part of the problem is people take things so personal these days, that it's hard to accept the inevitability of death in this game, and they take out their rage on little spawnlings on the beach. But for revenge for attacking me or my clanmates, I will torture you for as long as you stay logged in.

I came all the way from Ballota just to get him his morphine. Just when i wanted to enter elektro from the east (i secured the sniper hill first), he told me that he was dead. I went for this idiot that killed an unarmed player with an axe (!). Found him just at the moment he picked up a gun (don't ask me which one, i don't know any more). Somehow managed to knock him out, Ruin his gun and taking all his ammo he had with him. Also removed the firefighter axe to make sure he doesn't get any stupid ideas. After that i shot him in the legs and left. Probably died the same death my friend died. Or he has been eaten by zombies. There is only one kind of bandit/survivor i can't stand. Shoot-on-Sight-unarmed player-killing Bandits. Do what you want with geared people, but leave the bambis out of that fight. Nobody is perfect. Your overall actions in this game count, at least for me.
Gekkonidae 270 Posted March 26, 2014 Hilarious post. Good work. I would have been number 4. When i'm a new spawn, as long as you don't try to shoot me, I'll take any freebies you're willing to hand out, and in turn, defend you so long as we're still hanging out. I'm appreciative like that. Number 3 was good ol' fashioned torturous entertainment haha. That's what the little bastard deserved, i'm sure.
