Your thoughts on the new patch/hotfix?

What are your thoughts on the way things are going with Dayz currently?

 

Do you like the patch and hotfix? Do you think it brought serious issues or resolved major problems? 

 

Discuss below, and try to stay on topic and not argue with each others opinions please. 

 

Here are my thoughts:

Zombies are fun now.. actually worth engaging rather than ignoring

Loot is good, unless its been picked over.. then its like a wasteland

Performance seems on par with before, maybe a little less if anything

New additions as far as towns, and buildings are great

New clothes and weapons are wonderful

Not raining 24/7 is really, really, really fucking good

Melee system is good, really like killing zeds with it

I wish there was more night going on.. cant seem to find night servers as much

I really hope the next major focus is zed collision and loot respawn.. like REAALLY

Players seem more scarce lately.. and friendly. Maybe thats just me? I havent killed anyone in days now.. :(

    Here are my thoughts, knowing that many people will likely argue with me, I would like to apologize in advance to anyone who dis-agrees with my opinion. (Not really.)

 

     Advantages 

- More weapons, creating a better environment for players.

- Proof that Bohemia can fix issues very quickly

- Easier access to food in the form of berries.

- More Hardcore zombies.

- Eat all function *Best part of update in my opinion.

- Checking pulse allows for meeting more friends, and checking if people are dead or alive if they are noobs who can't read.

- Fixed many issues including Long Range Scope reticle (One of my favorite fixes)

 

     Dis-Advantages

- Horrible melee animation, is very difficult to use compared to old one.

- Ambient noises have still not been removed.

- Zombies damage your items too easily.

- Protector cases don't protect your items anymore...

- Has been made too easy to find a gun due to the new police stations inside of small cities such as Kamenka, Kamyshovo, and Elektro.

 

    For the next update

- Fixed collision for players and zombies.

- Quieter eating noises.

- Larger servers 60+

- Loot Respawn to rid of server hoppers.

- Cooking & Hunting.

- 22. Damage Buff.

 

  I hope most of you can agree with my statements, but I doubt it ;) Cheers guys and gals.

See for me:
I enjoy the zombie respawns. It is fucking fantastic to walk through cherno With my friends just blasting zombies while looting.
I don't however, like the hotfix change to the zeds. 
i mean they were fast already, but now they're just insane and it's highly annoying running through a field and agro-ing a zed from miles away. 
 

Other than that i'm in love with this update.

zeds are broken in latest patch, had them agro on me from 500-600m away while I was sniping. Needs to be fixed. Like the faster speed though

i think that is exactly what they had in mind when they coded them.. but yes, they are not proper and need a lot of work

Focusing on the new, faster zombies, I think they're amazing.

 

I think they'll significantly change player tactics, especially when soloing. The crap like running through walls and nearly infinite view distance with next to null hearing is still a problem but the speed I think is a great change. I believe it will increase the number of player encounters outside towns and will cause people to move through looting areas a lot faster. It helps take away that sense of security that you should rarely have in a survival game. I mean, I started tossing guns in the street if I didn't have the ammo/proper attachments which I would never do with slow zombies.

For example, I found a .22 that I planned to use for plinking zombies in order to conserve M4 ammo, I had no magazine and had to rechamber another round after every shot. With the low damage of the .22 (which it should have) it can take as many as 3 shots to kill a zombie (assuming they all hit) and with their new speed and numbers, reloading that often was not an option. I dropped that .22 and its ammo in the street.

Now, in order to conserve resources like ammo and bandages, you have to loot a town a lot faster and be much more observant. Not only that, but using your gun to kill zombies is a respectable option for more than just role playing purposes. I almost never used guns on zombies because they were so easy to kill with melee, but now melee is a much less viable option unless you want to use up a lot of bandages.

 

tldr; Zombies are a threat, move fast and stay aware in order to conserve resources.

Seems reasonable if you're using a Mosin. Not a quiet gun.

I still don't like how weak the .22 Sporter is. It just doesn't feel right. I want it to feel like it does damage, but I just can't justify ever taking it. The new fast zombies are interesting, but I don't think they should have been changed until their pathfinding and ability to slide through walls is fixed. Combine this with mouse acceleration and it can be just damn annoying trying to shoot them when they get right next to you. It's clunky and they just jolt around you in circles, hitting you in weird ways.

 

I DO like that there are more weapons, that there is a lot less lag, desync isn't as common and that I'm not disconnnecting every 5 minutes. The new areas on the map are fantastic and brilliant, and I like that the exisiting towns have new additions such as police stations and medical centers. It's like I'm still discovering new things abou the map all the time.

I like the faster, stronger zeds!

 

I don't like the hit detection! (getting hit from 3 meters away or getting hit while standing behind a zed)

 

Melee is better but still a little awkward

 

Fix the damn phantom noises next update...please

Awesome. Totally Awesome, when they fix the path finding/spawn/alert problems. One thing is certain after this patch - like them or not, the Zeds are a factor now in a lot of decisions.

I cut out all the parts of your OP that I agreed with, which left just a bit- seems to me most of these are individual preference. I don't really mind that zombies can damage items and/or that it was increased recently. Nor do I consider .22 weapons or cooking / hunting high priorities for what I would like to see in the game (again, preference)

 

Lastly I do recognize that the added police stations in the smaller inland (but not deep inland) towns has increased weapon availability, I only see this as a problem in the sense that those weapons could be rifles. If more people were running around with pistols / shotguns I think that would be perfectly fine and increase my fun quotient, but everyone and their mom having a scoped Mosin is just a drag.*

 

 

*of course that last part could spawn a thread de-railing "l33t sniper skillz vs whiny bitch" discussion, let's hope not
