Respect the Soldier that Wears a UN Helmet!

Recommended Posts

I was stationed to guard the military buildings in NEAF.

I am wearing an all black tactical shirt and pants, a press vest, m4 with a few attachments and a shiny UN Helmet.

I am looking all cool with my pristine blue rock shoes that complements the rest of the blue things in my body.

I wore my dark aviators and felt the good day is all ahead of me.

Normally, I just hide in the woods but today I just want to be seen but as a good guy who "keeps the peace" like the message my helmet is broadcasting to the world.

I just finished my security check on the west dormitory and now running to the direction of the back of the hangars.

It has been a habit of mine to keep something in front of me as I move forward to conceal myself from anyone who could be looking forward at me.

The hangar shielded me this time and the moment I reached it, something brushed on my side.

Thanks to my training, instead of being ambushed,  I stood toe to toe with an unknown soldier in a full TTKSO uniform with a complementing Boonie Hat and Gas Mask, wielding an unknown weapon.

I circled and screamed FRIENDLY!!!!

I was just three to five paces away from him. I want to raise my hand for friendship but he raised something different.

Deadly different.

And his response is.... BANG!

I felt the bullet smash against my body armor. It felt like a ton of bricks hitting me at the same time.

I was perfectly healthy, with my stomach full of a morning's breakfast of soda and sardines but when that shot hit, I felt a thunder of pain then a sudden numbness.

My vision lost its color and the human with the mask in front of me suddenly become just one of the surroundings.

My joy of meeting him was suddenly doused with a meaningless feeling.

He clearly doesn't respect the organization I belonged to so I circled again and pumped him an entire Magazine.

He tried to dodge them and was a bit successful but playing tag with 60 pieces of 5.56mm full metal jacket rounds eventually caught up, ripping him.

I hear him scream then fell on his face on the ground in a whimper.

In a split second I scanned the area... my soldier instincts assumed that he has a buddy that could ambush me if I get tempted to check the identity of the deceased so I ran to the mouth of the hangars while simultaneously looking right and left, back and front and took cover.

Hearing no footsteps of anyone following me, I checked my body... no blood or open wounds... maybe a few broken ribs and as my adrenaline subsides, I feel the pain returning but I tried my best to suck it up and be prepared for anything.

And to my astonishment... the server timed out.

I don't know if my enemy got back what he lost this day after our accidental relationship but whoever he is...

I am sorry. Really.

I wish we could have met in better circumstances.

If it will make you feel better, you are my first confirmed kill.

And thanks for the Press Vest for Saving my Life to live another day.

Im sure especially in places like America where the UN is not needed ppl view them as just ppl in elaborate bandit outfits. I got my blue shit on to but i know better than to expose myself like that without firing back. Normally by the time u say friendly your dead. Its good to get the drop on some one that cant see you and call out. If they dont respond or act hostile than its a good bet they just want to KOS.

I would respect a UN soldier except for the fact that most of the time I roleplay as someone who has accepted the fact that zombies are now the dominant species of the planet so I do everything in my power to get on their good side like feeding humans with broken legs to them.

So basically as someone trying to help humans you are my arch enemy. That outfit's the shit though GJ.

I wandered the coast with a UN helmet, a pack full of food, and a hidden sidearm for protection, handing out food and drink as part of the UN Disaster Relief. After the 3rd player I met tried to knock me out (and was dealt with in proper fashion) I dropped the helmet and returned inland to regear for survival. :/

i know im just being an ass. my dad did a ton of missions with the UN during his service, so i actually respect the colors.

just pointing out that the bright blue is a hell of a target in the sea of grey and green and brown.

what would be cool is a full un peackeeper outfit

There pretty close with that on the current clothing build plus we have the press and stab vest that look like the UN jacket.

You must be proud of your dad!

My military instructor once did UN missions too, specifically in East Timor.

The cowl doesn't make the monk.

And why would you respect the guy with the guns?

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for bean, I can tell you I don't have it. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let me go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you. (AND I JUST LOOT YOUR CAN OPENER AND PISS ON IT AND DUNNO WHY I AM GONNA DO THAT IT'S SOUNDS LIKE ANYWAY)

And why would you respect the guy with the guns?

I have been to a few direct contact situations since the mod and usually when I speak first, they get my good intentions. I am usually in the advantage because of the discipline I developed in the principles of cover and concealment plus security protocol. They knew I could have popped them sooner but as soon as I question them about where they are from or where do they live, our humanity rise to the surface.

I am a strong believer that there is something good in every human being, just be given the chance.

I given it some thought on why am I seem to be so lucky whenever I meet other survivors even if occasional shoot outs happen with some nervous types and now I think I have the answer.

We attract the people we set our minds to. It's called "The Law of Attraction".

So if you believe every person you meet is a KOSer, you will meet them all the time.

Just today I met 3 people in different scenarios and our social exchanges are foot steps, stalking, observing or just remaining still as we wait for the other to expose himself until we just quietly slip away or say we are friendly and don't shoot and leave.

It is on the life and death situations we can feel the deepest respect with the other's capabilities and being able to practice them all the time is a gift.

yeah my dad was in east timor too!

he said they gave him a little blue helmet, a "protective" vest and a briefcase full of doucments.

he then ran and ran and ran and ran and ducked and ran and ran and ran and ducked...

those ROE's are crazy. they get to shoot at the UNPC guys freestyle and they've gotta take it for the most part

The last thing I would want is the UN showing up after a Zed out break. They are gonna come and take all your guns and weapons. They come with big trucks and expect you to live in a refugee camp where water is more rare than that beloved can of bean in Dayz. Then from there to be left without guards after 6months to then be over ran by Zeds and everyone dies and flees a second time.

That' sway I putt spaces in between each sentence to make it much easier to read. It wasn't that long! Trust me.
