Well my current character is probably 15 or so hours old. spawned in elektro (got a old testament (black) from the church) and have been alive since.

I'm under the suspicion the bug or "troll Easter egg" is specifically related to the book of job due to its historical / religious context.

Not shitting you, everytime I have one, I die in mysterious ways not long after I have it, be it glitch, bandit or character reset.

Grab a Bible from the big church southish of the NWAF or NEAF, those are the ones I grab and I have had good luck.  Well, bad luck, but survivable if barely. ;)

Yeah I had that happen once. Took a bullet to the chest, then shrugged it off like a boss. Checked my pack later on, everything except for the book was fine. Apparently Charles Darwin and I are bros.

Spent 2 1/2 hours - working my way from Cherno, up the NW side of the map, just west of NW airfield and haven't found book of Job yet. I had no idea there were that many different books in game - as I'd never payed close attention. Still on my quest until it's done - no matter how long it takes. Have more to suffer with now - got my LRS, mosin, FNX + 2 mags w suppressor, 3 bags of rice, a pristine red dot, and hunters backpack along the way. (Some was already had but - a lot was in quest of the book). I've opened all piano houses where I've found books prior, and went to the churches as well, so this thing must be pretty rare.

Still it would be pretty f***ed up losing your kid because of belief and then to be "rewarded" with more children.

Dunno how that works for you, but I take my child as one of it's kind, so he can not be just replaced like broken thing.

 

But I guess things were different back in ancient ages, one's life did not carry much weight back then.

I will not bash anybody's faith, but many of these stories are pure tragedy and nothing that would inspire me much.

Well let me start out by explaining the situation.

 

I have a superstition about bibles ingame due to a few past experiences about them being good luck.

I found a blue King James Bible : Book 18 Book of Job. Picked it up and stuck it in my backpack , thought nothing of it.

Played around for about 45minutes. Logged out. Everythings gravy.

 

Logged in the next day. Backpack is completely missing. Wut?

Chalked it up to either "Its alpha" or somehow I was an idiot and dropped it as I was logging out (Yeah right).

So went around and grabbed a new backpack and replaced the missing contents. Rolled around through svelto killed some bandits torturing a bambi. Alls good. Looting one of the bandits bodies I see another Blue King James Bible. So I thought what the hey , and grabbed it again. Stuck in my newish backpack and proceeded on my way. Played for another 20 mins , got bored and logged out.

 

Log in Yesterday.

 

WuuuuuuuT!? My backpacks gone again....

Rattled my brain for about 30minutes figuring out how the hell this was possible.

Came to the conclusion It had to be that blue bible... So I proceeded on a quest to find another. Find one in the study of the piano house in berenzino.

Tried it again. Logged out. Waited 20minutes. Logged back in. What do you know? No fucking backpack.

 

So bewarned. Those blue bibles are cursed. :/

SO THAT IS WHAT IT WAS.

 

Same thing happened to me and i could not wrap my head around it but i remember picking up that big bright blue book as it was a version of the bible, logged in and 3/4 of my stuff had vanished.

It is pretty messed up, but like you said things were very different.  Just look at Joseph.  His brothers sold him into slavery because he was the favorite.  I'm sure every child held a special place in his heart, but he ended up with even more children to treasure.  Also, I think his children were married, so they weren't infantile and were at the point of looking after themselves in addition to the family.

So why are we once again returning to religious discussion and spouting horrible information like people's lives didn't matter in ancient times (Lolwut?) in a thread about a bug / easter egg? Especially if you don't even know what you're talking about. Book of Job isn't about people's lives not mattering it's about a bet between Satan and God that if all Job's (who is a rich and happy man) possessions and family were taken away would he still worship god ... It's also from the old testament which is basically an ancient Michael Bay movie script. There are copies in game why don't you try picking one up and giving it a read; but don't put it in your bag and log out I hear that causes problems.

This has happened to me two times, both times it has happened to be when my 4 slot hoodie had completely been filled with books. My backpack and pants were gone as well as 3 of the 4 books, but that's it, my gun/melee/helmet/gloves/shirt/boots were all still there.
