So I'm in the United States Military and I'm out on deployment right now and my only lifeline to DayZ is this forum, so I'm missing out on this patch. I'd love some user reviews, opinions on the new content, new guns, and improvements made to the performance and such. Also, I love to hear stories; about getting mobbed, about finding other players in hordes and the like.

First, thank you for your service. 

 

Second, you are not really missing too much brother.. as not many can even get into the game to try this patch out. But tomorrow, a fux.. I mean fix is supposed to be inbound.

 

As for how this game is going, its got a long road ahead of it.. a lot of promise that it will be quite different than the mods. Not sure how exactly that will pan out in the end, but hopefully its good. 

 

Also, lastly.. You should know this patch has thrown the forum a little off. I would not expect too many positive responses from your OP thread here.. I hope I am incorrect, but I would not exactly count on it tonight. 

 

Stay safe out there, where ever you are.. Head down, eyes up type stuff. ;)

   Good luck out in deployment mate. Anyway, my opinion of the new patch??? It's great! I love the new patch, even though many people complain. Adding new guns and features is awesome, and I feel that making the zombies very difficult is a very good thing. My friends have died a lot from the new patch, including when I shot my friend in the head... Anyway though, it's really a good patch in my opinion, but everyone thinks otherwise. Again, best of luck to you and your troop. Cheers.

   Hehe...... He is a noob to the game, he just got it yesterday. I heard that the Amphibia was a 1 shot KO to the head no matter what they had on their head. He was lagging really bad, and I decided to shoot his face to "Knock him out". Turns out the Amphibia is a 1 shot kill to the head... Unless you're wearing head protection... He died..

Bullets to the head don't work out too well.

 

I've enjoy the patch as well, but there is a bad issue people are very upset about but hopefully it gets worked out soon.  I also enjoy the zombie difficulty increase.  I don't why they took away zombies abilities to make you bleed when regenerating blood was so easy anyways.  So I'm glad that's back in force.

Sadly waiting for the hotfix before there are any 40+ servers again. Network issues keep the player pop low.

   Yeah, I can tell you a story. We had a really great time on a 35 player server on sniper hill near Elektro. It started off with me and my 2 buddies, two of us had mosins with pristine Long range scopes, and one of us had an M4 with mostly pristine parts. I had a mosin with a long range scope. My sniper buddy went prone and we started to look into Elektro. When all of a sudden, we heard a gunshot, we turned our scopes towards where we thought it came from, and I judged right, my other friend didn't see them. We saw three guys with shotguns, we knew they didn't have much loot, but they did kill a bambi, so I wanted to kill them. I unfortuanately forgot to zero my scope, so I had the zeroing set at 600 meters from when I was covering my friends at NEAF. I didn't notice this until after they slipped away, I fired around 8 shots before they got into cover,  so everyone on the server probably knew where we were. A few moments later we heard footsteps near us, so me and my sniper bud fell back a bit, pulling out our Pistols. CJ "M4 dude" Fired a couple shots, and took down the guy we heard. He strangely had an orange backpack and a shotgun, just like the guys I shot at... It was strange because only one came up... We changed positions after that, we moved closer to the far side of sniper hill away from Elektro, at this time I had fixed my zeroing. We saw a guy with an M4 shooting at people in Elektro, so I took the shot and saw him fall. I then moved again, as I didn't want to get shot in the back. I was just scouting out Elektro when all of a sudden I heard a ton of M4 shots near me and my friends were screaming on skype "Shit, shit, we're being shot at, dammit!!!" My friends then say "I'm dead", so I'm the only one left. I then took out my FNX hoping to sneak up on the dude that was looting my friend's bodies. I walked around for a while, mostly rolling, then I heard some footsteps, then a shot from a mosin. It was the same guy that shot my friends, gas-mask with a red beret and olive tac-shirt. I came up behind him and cuffed him. I then messed with him for a while, because I was mad that he shot my friends. After taking his weapons, and keeping and/or hiding them in bushes, I then went over to him, shot him in the legs to break them, then I unlocked his cuffs. I let him crawl around down to Elektro...    Pre-patch. This happened almost two weeks ago, I recorded it though, so I just watched it yesterday. I sadly deleted the video clearing up my desktop today, though :(

Okay, so this happened on the experimental server that had essentially the same patch at the time, that just came out on stable.

 

Full server. I spawn in fresh just NE of Elektro. I take a path through Elektro, Cherno, and Balota airstrip. Right through the middle of town, on the main roads, and right smack down the center of the airtstrip in Balota. Not a single fuck is given.. I dont even hear or see signs of players. I end up all the way out at the far Grocery store on the edge of the SW coast. I decide to start engaging zeds to see how dangerous this new spawning is. I have no melee weapons yet.. LOL. I should have known better to go fisticuffs with zombies right after they added in respawning. I swear I lasted about 27 rounds with that bastard. His friends kept joining in, essentially jumping me. In the end those sons of bitches overwhelmed me. I went down swinging and cursing though.. I can only hope someone heard me. 

 

So I spawn back in and decide to go see if the towns are dead again.. Immediately this time I hear shots upon entering Elektro. So, I decide to do what I do best. I take my clothes off, I pick up a large cooking pot and put it in my players hands as if its a weapon or Im making soup. I head straight towards the gunshots. See the bandit pickin bambis off with his M4. It looks like he has gone full postal and is just raging on anyone he sees. So I head towards another player to see what his deal is. I offer him some of my delicious soup in my best Russian accent. He asks me to kill him, but I explain my soup is not poisoned and as he can see I am naked and only can offer my soup. We chat, and I make him laugh a few times. I proceed to tell him that Im going to go visit the bandit over there killing people, maybe I can get him to come kill him. He crawls after me for a bit as I head off to this bandit guy.

 

I approach him directly and am able to just walk right up behind him while he is killing 2 guys running down the road. I offer my soup to him in a loud, very surprising Russian accent. He spins around so fast I think he shit himself.. then he just stares. Looks me up and down like, "Wtf are you doin'?" .. I keep telling him about my delicious soup and that he should really try it out for himself. I also tell him that a poor fellow needs a round or 2 to the head just down the road.. his legs are broken. The bandit just turns around slowly, and proceeds to finish off the 2 guys he had wounded and were bandaging  on the road still. Then just ignores me.. the nerve of the man! So I go back to my suicidal friend. Help him die via zeds, and get a bat from another guy who heard I wanted to go visit this bandit again. 

 

I go back to the bandit.. I cannot believe he is in the same spot, somehow still has rounds to fire off every 2-5 seconds.. I say, "hey my friend, I have brought back my soup for you!" ..and quite predictably he ignores me. I then beat him to death with that bat. Mercilessly. Spinning in circles, him firing off rounds until it emptied.. me saying over and over, "YOU SHOULD HAVE TRIED MY SOUP!" 

 

I then escorted a bambi nearby to his body and told to him to loot his gear and make a run for the hills with it all. He did, I watched him leave on top of the firestation and then leaped to my death :)
