Just a warning... I know everyone is crying about connection lost issues (myself included ;) ) but if you're having these issues at all, stop trying to log in until a fix is in place. I tried 6 times yesterday before giving up and went to try again today to see if it was a fluke and lo and behold, my character was fresh on the coast.

And then it still booted me 2 minutes later with a zombie defiling my virgin body.

So I advise patience for a hotfix lest you want to lose all your stuff.

It still might happen, but not trying could save you a lot of frustration.

Now to finish reinstalling and see if that works because I have nothing better to do :)

Reinstalling will not fix a server side issue..

There's a post about it on the tweeters.

Tomorrow morning GMT we will know the message that is causing the UDP problems. Then we will fix that.

Yeah I don't expect it will, but it's my day off and my only plan for the day was to play so... Lacking the ability to do that I'll just exhaust other options.

Its a bug in the game it self, with the UDP packets:

 

 

 

The lag issue with 0.42 relates to size of UDP packets exceeding what can be handled. We are isolating which message causing this to fix it

Restarting DayZ a few times fixed this for me. It's not a permanent fix obviously, but it might stop it from happening until you stop and then start playing again.

I noticed that the first time I played after the patch it was constant lost sessions and trying to rejoin and then incurring the log in timer. Then I noticed that the second time I played I had no issues whatsoever other than the horrible lag that accompanies all the players that do get the lost session thus a mass boot from the server.

 

Seems possible to play. I advise a lot of patience on logging in. It seems like it's not doing shit but it is. let it sit on the please wait or waiting for host screens for a good while before backing out to try again. This seemed to be my issue. I was so used to the game loading really fast that I thought something was wrong on log in but the server response is just really slow.

Reinstall just finished and as expected, still getting kicked so just waiting for a fix to go in place.

And I logged in to a zombie beating me to death too and bleeding all over the place. Good stuff ;)

Edit: playing around trying different servers, and now the server list doesn't seem to be populating? My favorites and history all show up, but the normal internet tab shows nothing

Had the same issues with the regular servers but didn't have a problem at all with Hardcore.

i can only play on one certain providers servers without any problems (DGUK)

 

after some testing, i noticed that other servers simply don't work for me after the new patch (massive desync/lag before session lost), but those servers work every single time.

Dev updates suggest they have the server lag problem cornered and expect to have a fix tomorrow.

Just wondering - we (5 players) had like 16 gaming hours since .42 hit stable without any really bad problems.

After joining the first 5 minutes there is a slight lag, sometimes not possible to interact but after that - all good. No desync, no lag, no session lost - weird.

Not telling i don't believe yer - just wondering why 70% can play and others 'r screwed.

Lost my character's to... many ladders, semi-substantial walls, poor depth perception, poor memory, running where I shouldn't be, being where I shouldn't be, shooting where it attracts attention, axed in the back, punched in the face. trusting people, falling off a roof, eaten by zombies.  Things that haven't claimed any of my characters, starvation, dehydration and force fed toxic materials blood transfusion gone wrong.

 

Dev team are on it I'll let them do their thing, sure I was a touch upset that it didn't work out but I have more things in my life then DayZ.

Oh yeah, I managed to log on for another 2 minutes... Enough time to stop bleeding, get to the factory and pick up a red hard hat and a pitchfork, and find/eat some tuna. Totally baller now! :)
