The shy and oh so rare can opener

Recommended Posts

The zombie apocalypse seems to have driven this species to the brink of extinction.

Which is a horrible catastrophe! The beans.... the bacon....tasty bacon... all wasted by the brute force of a fireaxe instead of beeing gently embraced by the docile blade of a can opener.

On a serious note:

What's your succes on finding can openers? I find shitloads of cans, but even when I'm close to fully geared, I usually still lack can openers. Am I stupid and blind or are there others sharing my suffering? the poor poooooor bacon the beans and the tasty yet miserable sardines....  :(

I find them pretty often. And for the lack of one I'll use a screwdriver or bayonet

I find can openers regularly in school houses and jails. Lately I find them A LOT but that's likely luck and server dependent. (As I can't find a mosin anywhere). If you can't find this rare beast - time to work around it - tuna, rice, and cereal time!

Maybe you are one of those Military Loot guys. I find canopeners very often in Civil housings, but never next to a M4-Magazine ;)

Yeah can openers aren't that hard to find and with the abundance of food, loosing 50% is no big deal either. Just eat everything you find and drink from every pond you come across.

I've found quite a few, though they are quite small and easy to miss.

I guess you've just had bad luck.

I guess i should start playing with my glasses on Oo

well it's not really a big deal to waste food since it's rather plentifull, but still...them beans..

On the other hand... murphy's law *points at post above*, there seem to be many people that have trouble finding one particular item :D

They aren't rare. You are a noob so you can't easily spot one out yet.

what a nice welcoming in the forums!

what would you say, if I would've welcomed you like this?

Search in the orange brick- and piano-houses.

Also in the red bars. I often find useful things there, sometimes also openers.

I have a badly damaged one and I'm also looking for a better one for some time now xD

not true at all. first floor office in the jail, desk to the left as you walk in will regularly have an m4 mag AND can opener, together.

Lucky you. Maybe it's because I rarely loot prisons and stuff :D

It's one of many items that clips through walls/floors easily, so I hardly even look for one.

Canned Tuna is my best friend. And apples...

But you only get half a bambi, since the rest of delicious new spawns and their tears fall uselessly to the ground.

YOU, Sir, are NOT a true bambi connoisseur of delicious rage-quit tears.

Get that can opener for the bambis. Eat ALL their tears!

:D

You'd have thought that most, if not all, houses in the country would have a fucking can opener in them, wouldn't you?

I hope that that the introduction of containers like fridges and cupboards (confirmed as in the works) will lead to more realistic loot-distribution. Eventually I'd like to see an abundance of low-level loot items in places like kitchen cupboards, wardrobes, tool sheds, etc. I like the idea of rifling through loads of mostly-useless stuff in order to find that one useful item, like a knife, some string, gaffer-tape, broom-handles, etc. As long as the game can handle so much useable items, it'd be more realistic to have stuff lying everywhere. Let us craft useful survival tools out of every-day crap!
