Moving Objects outside Inventory

Recommended Posts

I know that it's a very small thing to be concerned about, but I like to set up traps in high-pop areas. Usually by putting a high-value item in a fairly open area and hoping for the best, but it's hard to make those items high-visibility. Now I'm in the military and I barely have time to read this forum and the dev blog, let alone trying to figure out wtf reddit is and all that other crap, so has anyone heard anything along these lines? I would love to be able to strategically set guns or ammo in a place I could camp. Or even for future RPing purposes, setting up some sort of shop? What about when you get tents and all that? What if I wanted to place a mine down in a very specific spot, instead of kinda just dropping it from the inventory and hoping for a good effect? I'd like to hear thoughts and complaints on the idea.

When physics are implemented, I'd like the option when I'm holding an item to place it on where I am pointing the cursor. My character would then attempt to place the item on whatever I'm looking at (table, ground, stranger's face)

Experimental - gas lamp - evening or night server very visible, in fact its awesome looking - I was tempted several times to set it on the ground in a high traffic area and sit down inviting all I see to join me for drink, beans and conversation - probably be shot but im going to do it now that im on my fourth beer charge! 8D

The current physics build they're working on involves the character tossing the item up, and having it fall in front of you. I would rather see a casual "place on desk" option, in which the character calmly sets the item on the desk rather than chucking it.

But.. I always toss things at the table when I'm done with it.. Am I doing it wrong?

At one point he mentioned they wanted to do a a skyrim/oblivion(bethseda) style pick up of objects so you could move and place things as you wanted ( was a while ago so not sure if its still planned though )

Thats exactly what I'm saying. The skyrim reference is very valid, but honestly I'd like to see the object in the players hand as well, with the ability to manipulate the angle of rest that you set it at.

they need to put a limit if they do this, Would be really awkward to see someone running around with a floating car motor in front of them. <_<
