SO i've recently started playing this game, and after dying at least 5 times in a row, i got on a good streak. got good gear had food and stuff and was hiking trying to find my way around. and then the server stops working.

So i logged out and back into another one and mountain backpack cargo pants shoes and other stuff are gone, i'm stand there in my draws and bare footed.
in the middle of nowhere... needless to say that led to me dying again.

 

so is this normal? to accumulate stuff and it just vanishes?

Though character wipes are to be expected.... You should have been on the coast when you spawned. Maybe you were robbed upon logging out?

well its possible that you weren't alone out there and when the server bugged your character stuck around for a while making you easy pickins for some robber types - that happened to me on experimental once, all I was left with was my shirt, pants a little food some ammo and someone else's mosin - I had to go find me some more gear but at least I had something to keep me alive, albeit I was very short on ammo at that point. oh and they left me a damaged fire axe in exchange for the pristine I had been using up till then.

A glitch like this happened to me... I would have thought I was robbed, but my buddy was covering me. I re-logged a few times and then got my gear back.

I was trekking what i thought was north ( whole different issue i keep facing, that cloud direction is a lie) through country along a train track.

i had my mountain pack full of things, and my cargo pants full, when the server did whatever it did. so i exited the server, i entered into another server. when i got back in my character had retreated back down the track a distance and was missing the pack, pants, and shoes. i had my head gear, shirt and weapons.

when you log out, wait in the bushes for 30 or so seconds. i cant tell you the countless times i was about to log out and waited 10 seconds, only to hear one of those binocular-vision zombies running at me. had i logged out before he got to me, it would have killed me. it sounds like this is what happened. character wipes aren't very common. i've only had it happen once to me.

My bro had same thing in last sunday. Server got crash/reset, my team got kicked out, when we back my bro got info thats he is dead and only him. Its rare but its normal alpha bug.

Servers reset every few hours (usually between 2 and 4). You can then go to the menu screen (or history) and reselect the same server or a different one. You will usually spawn where you were about 10 seconds before the server restarted.

In your case, I would have logged out and then logged back in. Chances are your character hadn't been updated to the hive yet.

I remember once I had just found me a pristine long range scope. I stuck it in my pack and began to exit the building. The server restarted at just that moment. When I spawned back in, I did not have the scope and I was outside of the building. I had not yet entered it. So, I went back in and unfortunately there was no long range scope, but ammo in its place. "waaahhh". lol. Oh well.

The best advice I've been given (and it has made my gameplay soooo much more enjoyable) was: Don't get attached to your gear...

Lol, same bug happened to me, even lost almost the same stuff, backpack and shoes anyways. Just a glitch, hopefully it will be ironed out soon.

Yea i'm not attached to it, and i barely even skipped a beat when i got back in the game, just started looking for new stuff but died for lack of food.

I didn't see any1 mention it before, but you know that there are 2 kinds of gametypes regular and hardcore.

try switching between those two types to find out if your character really is lost.

Also had a strange bug. After a server restart my jacket was somehow ruined. I`ve played with mates and I know for sure nobody shot me, nor I was trolled by mates ^^ So the jacket was simply ruined, the stuff inside -  wasn´t. Next day I had 2 character whipes in one night, both lives I was already geared up, no server hopping. Tried everything to maybe get the characters back but nothing helped. Lost about 6 hours of progress (2 whipes + 1 death due to a bug) Must be servers ^^

Sounds to me like the server you were on was deleting characters. Happened to some members of my group once, we all spawned in our previous locations, but some of us had no loot and generic white guys.
