Alrite folks,

there is some threads in the suggestion corner of the forum and most people in here are pretty dedicated and come up with pretty good ideas.

While every idea on it's own might be an awesome idea, not ever single one of  'em might really fit into what DayZ is meant to be or meant to become (either by the point of view of the community or the devs themselves).

Gaming-styles and preferences might differ a bit or a lot within the community and I guess there is quite a variety of reasons how and why people play this game.

I'd like to know what the approx ratio of PVPers/ PVEer/ survival players is within the community in regards how people play the game at the moment and the direction they'd like to see the game develop to...

So I wonder:

1) how you play the game at the moment

2) what would the perfect gaming experience for you look like

I'd appreciate any kind of suggestions, but try to generalize and not to go too much into detail, maybe ideas will develop here which then can get posted in detail in the right section).

I'm an avid FPS gamer and totally love to PVP, but I've bought this game for the survival aspect which imho needs some improvement.

The game -as its sandbox-  should offer opportunities for every prefered gaming style but I guess it's not easy to find a way everyone will totally be happy with.

I'd love to see the focus on the survival and the social aspect (aka teamplay) making it much harder (not impossible, but harder, especially when you wanna get the good stuff) for people to survive lonewolfing (as in: more Zeds, more enviromental threats in general, be it weather, zeds, diseases) and some requirements to team up to get to the good stuff, as some meds, weapons, tools would only be available in areas that are crowded with all kind of threats (traps, Zeds, diseases, climatic adversities and so on).

I'd love to see areas that are hard to reach and would require some planning upfront before being able to get there, like a hard to reach military base somewhere in the mountains that would require appropriate clothing and a thought-through "line up" as in roles, you would maybe needs 3-4 military personal to protect the group from zeds, wild animals and other players, some mules that carry food and water for the group, maybe 1 or 2 medics that have all the stuff they need to be ready to render first aid for whatever situation and danger the group might come across and maybe 1 or 2 engineers that carry heavy tools to be able to open safes and such.

The rewards you could get there either could be rare clothing, spraycans/ camo (pure aethetical rewards) or maybe 100% chance of finding pristine weapons and attachements (while military bases would only spawn worn ones for example).

Basically like a raid in an MMORPG but still sandbox and not some kind of dungeon.

People would have to team up, plan ahead how to get there (maybe tehre s a way through some canyon which is quite short but crowded with hordes of zeds and wild animals and there's ways that are longer and with less Zeds/ animals and hence take more time and food to get there + the risk of getting there too late) and would have to think what kind of equipment and how much food they gonna take with 'em.

PvP should be possible all over the place and people still should be able to survive when they decide to lonewolf or haven't found a group yet, but the focus imho should be on survival with a bit of PVE content to keep people entertained, to give them some challenges that require some planning, organization and teamplay if they feel like doing so.

/edit:

multiple answers are possible, if none of the above covers your needs feel free to post in the comment section

What is it with you and Polls ?

I'm not sure if it would be possible to make something more complicated.

Oh well, carry on.

I just find it way easier to see "real" numbers than read through lots of pages where you might want to answer to people but there's so many topics discussed at once that you basically lose track to easily.

Also, like that other dude already stated: we germans love staticstics <3

I think the game is progressing nicely. It's bare bones right now, but the feel of the game is great. Survival does need to be harder, and I think should be your main focus while playing - for it to be a genuine challenge just to keep your character from succumbing to cold, wet, hunger, thirst, tiredness, sickness and injury.

If we get a good grounding in those things, then the rest of it sits happily on top. The player interaction, gunfighting, crafting, building camps, character/gear customisation, etc: they're the optional bits that make up the sandbox and give us ways to form objectives for ourselves. But the survival bits are the basis of it all - and it should be as difficult to succeed in that as they can possibly make it, while maintaining a level of intuitiveness.

I play just to test at the moment.

Since the game is incomplete,i usually log for like an hour or 2,

see what's up and then log out.

I'm fully geared,so there are not much to do.

I see that you use PVE/PVP and survival to describe the content.

If you refer to PVE as the zombies, that's incorect.

Because they contribute to the survival aspect of the game.

PVE without quests is not possible.

What i would like to see first,is to be bombarded with zombies and run after you from Cherno to Elektro like the did in the mod, also i miss crawling my way into the cities to avoid them,i want every zombie's speed increased (just a tad slower than the player),being vigilant and responisve able to spot a player from distance.secondly reduce the water

sources and the purification tablets to a point where you are waiting for the next rain.

Reduce canned goods significantly making them almost non-existant and rare, relly instead on

hunting/berries/fishing and "mushrooms honey and fruits from trees" if implemented.

Make raw food close to nothing (nutritional value-wise),have a good cooking system with a lot of recipies, and force players to cook.

Make the temperatures at night so low, that without fire and shelter, our survivors turn to icycles in a matter of minutues.

I guess everyone got a different definition of PVE, but in my definition, PVE doesn't necessarily have to include quests, as it simlply means player vs. environment.

I personally would count Zeds as PVE, together with weather and animals, while the survival aspect would be include more character related things like food and hydration, having meds ready, finding the right items, even though PVE and survival is linked to each other the same way PVP and survival is, but PVE is more related to the given setting/ environment while survival is more related to your personal choices/ actions/ decisions and gamingstyle.

Personally enjoy survival but like PVP. I focus on both survival and pvp items. I play alone on Mid-pop servers so I both have a chance to find items and possibly get to interact with people (for better or worse lol) Usually mid to high pop servers with around 12 ex-clan mates when i'm bored (so we can rampage all over the server). I think that surviving is a bit too easy at the moment and should be harder. I also think that team play should be encouraged just a little more (though, I think that will come later with structure barricading/building and storage), and I like a nice balance of PVE, PVE and survival.Keeps you busy.

this is the best OC thread i've seen so far, beans to OP

i voted other for the last one:

i wan't pve and pvp and suvival to stay relatively the same, with a focus on pve and teamwork/cooperative expansion but the main thing i'd want would be a more difficult solo-pve or group-pve/pvp due to environment and zeds.

It's not a sandbox game. Minecraft is a sandbox game.

I enjoy all aspects of the game. I don't focus just on one, because when you do that you get bored really quick. I would like to see PvE (referring to all inclusive aspects of player vs. environment) more challenging as in a way its too easy.

As for PvP, I just want some of the focus of that toned down. There should be more incentive on positive player interaction.

I just think that in a real survival situation a group would always have the upper hand.

I'm also pretty sure in a real survival situation groups would not take the risk of losing even a single member of their group, of course there would be a lot of saber-rattling in a lot of stand-off situations but people would back off to save their comrades (and themselves) and wouldn't risk a shoot-out, unless really necessary.

I'm not even sure if there is a possible fix for this, the goal should be to make people care for their characters more, but how?

My "Other" for the first section is I also like to test new thing's implemented and try to break them where I can then file a bug report or upvote a current one.

Second "other" was that I play the experimental servers for the above reason

Otherwise, I tend to play most when new patches are added and it drops off when I feel I've accomplished everything, lately I've been staying on the coast and have been surviving well, so that portion of the game need's a little work imo.  Things like berry bushes being able to picked infinitely should be reworked, with them "dropping" 1-3 times with an increased drop rate then the player need's to move to a new bush.

Your first question lacks an option for "my focus is encountering new players, be them friendly or not, though i attempt to make things as interesting as possible"

True that, I completely forgot the testing-thingy.

I personally can't wait for the next update, things hopefully will be more interesting again.

Did you have more friendly or more not-so-friendly encounters?
