"Frankie" Hero mentality

Recommended Posts

There is only a cold blooded minority that does that.

Have you played the game? it's a shitfight of KoS.

Everyone seems to be aimed at following the "Frankie" mentality of never shooting on sight. Which to me sounds absolutely ridiculous to me.

Being a hero isn't going around waiting to be shot.

Opinions?

It is a mis-characterization of how Frankie Plays the game to say he never KOS' or suggests that players should never KOS.  Frankie absolutely does shoot some players on sight in his vids which means your premise if false.  As an example, he KOS when he counter snipes - which he does quite often even though the sniper isn't shooting at him.

What I think Frankie would say (and more or less does say in his commentaries) is that KOS being the only response to any situation is boring, noobish, and a lowly way to play.   Instead, Frankie's approach is to asses the situation and other players' behavior and make your decision based on the information you have.  For Frankie it is "better" and more entertaining to hold players up without killing them when possible (the benevolent bandit), but this isn't always possible as just about any of his vids demonstrates.

who is frankie ? :(   ( am i old ? )

Yes you are...

hes a hiliariously funny guy, who inspired me and many others to TRY day Z . hes a good player, great sense of humour, and is amongst mine and many other's favourite youtube gamers. Frankie is a legend.

He is very rare, I would say 10% of players or lower, will try to communicate before shooting. He is a hero in a sea of dirty bandits.

Well if he KoSed it wouldn't be anything than any other youtube video you can find of DayZ regardless of mod or not. And i can film all i want and show off as a hero and KoS under a different name when the camera is off.

Is Frankie bad at dayz? Just me that think he's kinda good?

I might be terrible, but to me it seems like he is good at spotting and shooting.. He doesn't just shoot everyone either..

What kind of person he is, I have no idea, havn't seen much more than his SA movies.

I think he's a good player...especially as he seems to be playing without hacks since he got called out.

I used to enjoy watching Frankie's videos. Then I learned how to play the game and realised he's just not that good. Sure he's experienced and is certainly not bad at the game but I feel he relies on 3PP way too much for everything that and the lack of experience of his "victims".

I don't mind that he edits his stuff to make him look good, that's fair enough, but people should understand what we see is only a tiny fraction of the game he plays. Although I do get a little annoyed with the fanboi stuff regarding him. I'm not a hater, I realise he can't control other people's opinions (and in many cases fawning) and if he makes money from being "famous" in computer games then fair play to him, well done, however he does seem to enjoy adding that sort of stuff into the videos which irks me somewhat.

I love Frankie, he is the reason I play dayz, but he does KoS a lot but makes an excuse for it.  Like... "Oh this guy is running down the exact path I was going to take.  I'm going to have to take him out.  Not like I could go around or anything." BAM BAM BAM. "Hes down".  Kind of makes me laugh.

Right! Take all my beans.

*edit* to the people who think that everyone is bad pretending to be good... "those who are unable to perceive good are the biggest threat to good itself"...

Not sure why this avatar is making you all so angry. I think its  social conditioning and an overeaction to it more than genuine displeasure at the content of it.

Would you be so against it if it were

Josef stalin?

Attila the hun?

Idi amin?

Ghenkis Khan?

Pol pot?

Vlad the impaler?

I understand of course that Adolf is one of most recent bad guys but really he was a very clever man and wrote some very interesting books.

In case your wondering I lost 3 family members to the regime and I hold no grudges.

as a german i am well educated about hitler. what interesting book did he write? And please dont say "mein kampf" because this book is totally ridiculous and reflects the insanity of hitler himself.

Cleverness and insanity are not far apart. As you said you understand that Hitler is one of the most recent bad guys. Then surely you can understand that there are still a lot of feelings connected to that. Its just inappropiate and offending. I wonder if you would tolerate a proud Oilpainting of a Guy named Osama as avatar.

Everyone....

By that you mean no one, or what? Because last I checked only "no one" was giving a fuck about not shooting anything in sight.

Who da fuck gives one about Frankie anyway? He should be dickslapped for as long as SA is in alpha just for bringing up the "Bambi" term...and his annoying voice...and using cheats to not get killed while he was making his stupid storyline videos.

In short: Don't try to be like some self absorbed Youtube prick!

I've been trying the 'don't KOS' since I got the game and have over 150 hours in it. I'd say it works about 1 in 5 times - the rest are just ending up on the wrong end of the transaction. I can't wait until Zeds are the required focus for survival to right this equation. Until then, I'm reconsidering my philosophy and looking forward to 3/11 for a proper FPS.

Just let people be heros if they want to. Frankie is the reason the whole playerbase isn't just bandits. He showed how you can have fun without shooting on sight.

^ did he? Or maybe just maybe people are capable of playing how they want to, without some narcissistic youtube boy telling us how.

There's proof that Frankie hacked, and that's all the information you need to determine what kind of person he is.

Hero, bandit, KOS.. Doesn't matter. He hacked.

His editing and video production skills are there, but his content is full of hacks, set up scenarios, and fanboiz slurping on his E-peen.

Don't get me wrong.. Frankies videos are the reason I started playing DayZ, but since I've gone back and watched a few of his older episodes with a lot more knowledge of the game, I've gone from a fan to a critic.

Of course mein kampf. It is very interesting. There are people in the big wide world who didnt learn as much as you.. Respect thier desire to learn of the mind of the man who murdered thier kin.

On a side note. This is after all a game where we hack infected's in the head with fire axes and blow people away with shotguns. I put it to you that as a German your a little oversensitive about your nations past.

Stying on topic I just watched a Frankie video on ''the last of us'' he was quite good. not sure what the anti frankie club is based upon?

Is he really? Really? I don't think you can somehow suggest anything of the sort.

I've given you my beans, but it's with a caveat. I think you are being a touch harsh unless you can provide that evidence. Everything I have seen has been circumstantial. However your last sentence I totally agree with and it's why my beans are with you. I liked his videos and they certainly enhanced my early DayZ gameplay, but I do recommend people go back and view them as they are perhaps just a little too staged in some parts. As I said in my previous post, I have no issue with that, it's like asking bands to only release albums that have been recorded in one take and that's never going to happen. You have to accept he tailors his videos but then that is the point, he wants to create a narrative, it's story telling.

I don't mind the narrative. I don't mind "smart" editing.. But there's a fine line between editing, and completely faking what happened.

People are attracted to what's REAL.. What's TRUE.. There are many instances in Frankies videos that are clearly "scripted".. It's a little off putting to hear him acting through scripted material, but it's another all together to realize that there are certain scenarios which were completely set up.

For example, there's an episode where he "steals" a helicopter, then he flies away, and the helicopters engine cuts out. At this point in the video, he has 7 murders, but he's still a survivor.

The heli starts floating downwards like it's going to crash, then the video cuts, and he wakes up on a shoreline, on a different server, using a different skin, on a different life.. he now has 1 murder, is still a survivor somehow, and there's a heli-crash next to him, and he announces that he survived the heli-crash.

A few questions about this:

1. How was he still a survivor after having 7 murders? Last I checked, 7 murders would definitely get you a bandit skin. Hacks can allow you to change your humanity.

2. Where did the helicopter crash come from? It was a different server, different life.. He didn't crash and wake up on the shore, so that had to be a different helicopter crash. Did he spawn in the helicopter and crash it, for the footage? Spawning in vehicles is a well known hack.

3. Helicopter engines don't just randomly cut out. He faked this.

In a recent video in Standalone, he met up with "Morgan Freeman", and in one of the scenes, he is talking into a Walkie-Talkie.. He says he found the Walkie-Talkie in Berezino, but I know for a fact that there is only 1 place which spawns Walkie-Talkies.. and that's in Firestations. He had to have...

1. Got the walkie talkie from a fire station in NWAF, Balota, Cherno, or Elektro, and then lied about where he got it from.

2. Taken the Walkie Talkie off of a dead body.

3. Hacked in the walkie talkie.

There's no footage of him actually finding it, or how he came across it.. The only thing we know for sure is that he had one, and he said he got it from Berezino.
